I have very fond memories of Miller's Grove which was and still is commonly referred to as Shorty's. It was here that I first sat down at a bar and had a drink. The year was 1960 and I was 16 years old (forget it...the statute of limitations has passed) and you could drink in New York State at 18, plus back then nobody really cared. Now, underage drinking is such a big deal, as in the filing of the charges of "contributing to the delinquency of a minor," that it's all actually frightening. Times have changed but their menu heading is so true when it say "Your grandfather and perhaps your great grandfather dined with us too." Miller's Grove or what we called Shorty's was a real dive bar back in the 60's. But today, gone are the drunks, the smoking, the mouthy boisterous crowds and the loud noises. Today it's a really very nice bar and charming restaurant with a comfortable country décor serving excellent food. My partner ordered the lamb which looked delicious and indeed must have been as he didn't even give me a bite of it. For me I had their Prime Rib Special done Oscar Style. The meat came perfectly seasoned, was done rare as ordered, and had a good lump crab and cream sauce with asparagus. For a place, what I call "out in the middle of nowhere", you'd be amazed too at how GREAT it is! The staff I would assume would be fantastic and they are. Have eaten here for years, but the prices have exploded to the point of the ridiculous! $34 for a about a 12 oz strip steak (menu says it's 16 oz) that I can get another local restaurant for $18. My wife had eggplant which was $17. Our friend had spaghetti which was woefully undercooked with a bitter, tasteless sauce and a meatball that tasted like it had been sitting around for a week! After paying a "suggested" tip on the waitresses cell phone of 20%, we dropped over $80! Not going back for long, long time!! read more

Always love having dinner at Miller's!! But make sure to get your reservation in if your planning on going on the weekends, as this place more and more is packed full later in the evenings! The Nic-l going under blew this place up in my opinion. They always take great care of us when we go there! Fish fry was a pre cooked skin on product. In an area where fish fry on friday is king, it was awful and quite expensive. Spaghetti and meat ball were ok. The meatball was very large but lacking in flavor. The sauce was good. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff was great. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Talk about good black Angus filet mignon my husband loved it and I was stealing bites. Pan seared scallops were out of this world. Good salad and price. Fast service too. Spaghetti sauce good and garlicy huge meatball. read more

Very disappointing experience! Four of us had dinner at the outside dining area. The table was extremely small. I was afraid my food would end up in my lap because my plate was halfway off the table. Two of us ordered the chicken parmesan on a bed of spaghetti. It came without the spaghetti and the chicken was cold! We sent it back and it did come out hot the second time, but still no spaghetti! Finally received it after requesting again. One of us ordered a very pricey Salmon and baked potato dinner . The Salmon was good, but no baked potato arrived even after asking a few times. Another person in our group ordered a very expensive strip steak medium rare. It was hard to chew and definitely not worth $26. For a total of $110 for 4 people, we will NOT be going back anytime soon! read more

In the area for work and a local recommended Miller's Grove. Selected the Angus Filet off the daily menu, asking for it to be medium cooked. Nice warm pink center, right? Over cooked and flavorless. Filet is supposed to be very tender, but this was tough...or the knife not sharp. So disappointing. I'm not confrontational, so didn't say anything. I'm sure they would have fixed the situation had I mentioned it, as the host and bartender were very nice. read more

This place is an area icon. Really good food, varied menu, priced fairly and the portions are ENORMOUS! Char grilled red snapper with chipotle panko coating was cooked just right- crunchy on the outside, moist and tender inside. With a side of spaghetti(enough for a dinner by itself!) and a fresh tossed salad, half of the fish was dinner the next day. Other yummy entrees: the house meatballs, (as big as your head! I would have given 5 stars but the first time I was there the waitress totally ignored our table - from beginning to end. Since then I've had great service and I LOVE their Salmon w/ Hollandaise. Their house dressing seems to be a basic, old fashioned V & O and it takes me back to simpler times. We had heard great things and decided to take a trip back. We were there years ago and were not pleased. 3 of us ordered the filet and 1 ordered the spaghetti. The waitress said they cooked on the rare side so we all ordered ours medium. Well you guessed it - all were well done. The waitress asked how our steaks were and I pointed out they were all overdone. Said she was sorry and on her way. She come back a little later and again asked how our steaks were. That put me over the edge - I told her I was totally disappointed. She offered to bring me another steak and she did - A little better but still on the med-well side. We were at Miller's Grove aka "Shorty's" last weekend, May 20th. Eighteen of us showed up at 5 p.m. We were seated and told we would have to leave by 6:30 p.m. because someone had reservations in the area of the restaurant in which we were seated. Anyway, I wish I would have gotten the name of the young girl who waited on us. She was terrific. She took drink orders quickly and delivered drinks soon thereafter; the salads came out fast, and the food was not too far behind. I wish my small spaghetti would have been better prepared. It was not totally, totally cooked, but I did not complain and ate it. I guess to sum this experience up I'd say the service from this girl was fantastic and the food so-so at best. As I was leaving the restaurant at 6:20 p. m., I told the young girl she did a "fantastic job." Would I go back to Shorty's? I doubt it, unless I was with the outdoor club people again. read more

This is our favorite restaurant. The food is great, staff wonderful, and just a fun place to have dinner. I think they have the best steaks in town, and their snapper is WONDERFUL... They are very customer service orientated, we try to eat there a few times a month. I would not change a thing!!!!! read more
