Warm and cozy restaurant. We were greeted immediately (even though we didn't have a reservation), and shown to our table. I really can't say enough about the friendly staff. We each tried something different to share. The hot crab dip was excellent. My partner had the lobster ravioli which was so rich and delicious ( he had leftovers) I had the stuffed shrimp...I had no leftovers, but was quite full. We both had dessert ( funny how we both found room for dessert, we rarely have dessert). Cream brulee was excellent (I'm very picky about desserts). I really like the landmark & so does my Dad. Has a private club feel to it. Beautiful interior, always very busy at least whenever we go for dinner. It's an old place but the walls are beautifully painted & looks first class in the dining room. Bar room is old-school awesome, fake fire in there, sports on the tele but we never get to sit there. It's the dream!! My parents were friendly with the top waitress back in the day and it translated to top notch service esp. with the drinks! She's gone now & I have liked the wait staff but not the same for my old man ha. Get the twin tournedos, 2 petite filet with potatoes on top & some crumbled bleu. Consistently good & stick with what works. Last time I did the comfort food pot roast which was ok but some fat in there & I got tired of all the carrots. I need the health but I was really bloated after. Stick with the tournedos! It's expensive maybe someday I'll get the check! Service was good prices were acceptable. My food was good, although could've been a bit warmer. My girlfriend had scallops as part of her dish and they had the smell of ammonia which either meant that they were spoiled or they were overcooked. Our waiter took them back and Gave us five dollars off that dish. When you're driving cross country, you never know what to expect when it comes to restaurants in places you've never been to before. We ended our days travel in Jamestown, NY and after checking into our hotel we started our search for food. Lucky for us, we found the Landmark. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff warm and friendly, but the food was the most wonderful surprise. Everything we ordered came out perfectly prepared and exceeded our expectations. The highlight was their Salmon, one of the best dishes I have ever had. Their Onion soup was also delish! If we ever get back to Jamestown, we will definitely be going back to the Landmark! I am sad to report that my friend and I may have dined on a bad night for the restaurant. The service was excellent, and each course was brought out in a timely fashion, but the food itself was a huge disappointment. We started with the French Onion Soup. Other than the melted cheese on top, the soup was essentially flavorless. It tasted like a can of Campbell's soup. We then ordered stuffed banana peppers. The peppers were slimy and somehow cold on the inside. The sausage filling was tasteless and bland. We ordered pot roast for our main meal. This course had more flavor to it. It was pretty good! However, my friend almost ingested what seemed to be a stem from what could have been herbs (we really do not know). I will not say that I will not be returning to The Landmark, as I think it warrants another try. This experience, unfortunately, was OK at best. read more

This is a fine dining experience with good food, however receiving your meal can be somewhat slow due to it being busy often. Despite the wait, the staff are all very friendly and hospitable and the added time makes this place more appropriate for special occasions or catching up with friends. It is the brother of the restaurant 'Watermark', which instead of its sister, specializes in land meats such as steaks, pork chops, rack of lamb, rather than seafoods. For appetizers, we shared the mussels, coconut shrimp, and the scallops. The mussels were good and came in a nice tomato sauce. The coconut shrimp was crisp on the outside and had a nice sweetness to it. This was probably my favorite out of the appetizers. The scallops were fine, although I did not care for the seasoning that much. For entree, I ordered the half rack of lamb. It came with mustard sauce and sweet pea risotto. I really enjoyed this dish. The exterior was crispy and delicious like fried bacon, and the interior was well cooked and juicy. I thought the mustard sauce complimented the meat well and the sweet pea risotto had a creamy contrast. For dessert, I snagged a few bites of the warm butter cake and the creme brûlée. Both delicious!The creme brûlée melts in your mouth like butter and the butter cake has this soft gooey inside with a sweet chewy exterior drizzled with raspberry sauce and accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My husband and I have had great dinners at The Landmark. In June we had an unfortunate experience with purchasing a gift card as a gift only to find out they would be closing for renovations. I was assured the card could be used at the Watermark. Long story short...no that was not the case and the people had already eaten their dinner. Rather embarrassing!!! Cold at first, when they had reheated them, it was still heat pockets in cold food. Then when I finally tasted one and cut them apart, I realized it was about 2 lbs of what tasted like Italian sausage, and some banana peppers and sauce. I threw it out the second we left. Filet mignon was fatty as if that makes any sense. Lobster bisque was the only thing that was good, but take that with a grain of salt because that was also cold. HUGE waste of money. I can say this place is one of best around they have great customer service and just a happy place all around. There's a lot of places like this but we also have a few that need some brushing up skills to come up like these places have. She was not only warm, but she was super attentive and wanted to be sure everyone was happy with their experience. The food was all quite good again. Had stuffed peppers. First the bad. Pricey. Definitely a special occasion place. However, while the food is top tier gourmand, do not be fooled. The portions are truck stop. Huge! The blackened salmon, mussels and other seafood offerings are best in the city. The steaks are always large, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. And o know it sounds lame but definitely try the pork chop. My goodness is it good!! The sides are like something out of La Fouquette on the Champ Elysees. In little old Jamestown no less. First time in the area and found this gem through Yelp, what a great place to dine. The staff was so pleasant to all, we had infant with us and the wonderful waitress Nichole brought her mashed and cut veggies, on the house. The recommendations from Nichole were excellent. The building that the Landmark is in has been in Jamestown a long time and was occupied previously by a series of "fancier" restaurants most notably called the Ironstone. The Landmark has been the latest installment and has been around for a couple years now, also operated alongside by Watermark in Mayville, NY. The ambiance is great inside though the location kinda sucks. Parking is a little strange at the corner because of the city's less-than-spectacular infrastructure layout. The food at the Landmark is decent. It is managed by a couple local restaurateurs with a fairly successful track record but a bad habit of repeating menu items under different names. You'll likely get the same or a similar dish as many of their other past projects/locations with different names and pricing depending on location and perceived "exclusiveness". If you're looking to impress someone or celebrating something special, this would be a nice option for you. As a weekly visit or group outing, I'd suggest something else unless to save your wallet some stress. read more
