I have been bringing my Class A Fleetwood Bounder RV and my Lexus also my wife's Ford Fusion down to Kevin Wong for many years now for smog renewals and i can say i have always been in and out in under 30 minutes. Fact i was just there yesterday August the 13th 2026 with the Lexus and was in and out in under 30 minutes. Last few times I've been in for a smog check i see he has his son working with him now also doing smog checks. He is also very good at his Job and was the one that did the smog on my Lexus in under 30 Minutes. And i think they have a great price for their xlnt smog jobs they do. Quick, efficient, and polite service--I came on a Friday a bit before lunch, and they were able to take my Prius immediately. Kevin was really friendly and worked quickly. There is a seating area for waiting for your car to finish being smog checked etc. and it is separated into a couple of smaller rooms, which could be useful if there was someone being noisy etc., but otherwise it was good. By the time I finished the paperwork, he was half done with the car, so it didn't take too long at all. Definitely coming back here next time I need to get my car smog checked! read more

I have a "Out of State" 40 yr old Vehicle, and needed a Smog Certification. Another shop didn't know how to deal with a Old Car with a non-stock motor. So I tried Milpitas Smog. They were able to figure out the Carb stuff and got it to pass after a few fixes.. Took about 30 mins... Didn't get a chance to make a reservation prior to pulling up on the shop on a Tuesday at lunch time. He was able to test my car while I completed paperwork. Price wasn't too bad, $70 included the smog test and certification. Only waited for about 15 minutes for him to finish. He did everything himself and was very nice to me. I really wanted to make sure I wrote a review that was fair so I waited a couple of days to cool off. So here are reasons on why I only gave Kevin 1 star: 1. Lied about the neighboring Smog Check Station pricing -I came after another Smog Check place down the street closed but does smog checks for $40. I know right! $40! So, because its closed I came over to Kevin because he was still open. I asked him about the other place offering $40, he said no, "that guy won't do it for $40". So, now I'm thinking the other place is a crook. He said he would do it for $55 something. As he is doing my smog check I check the other place on yelp and guess what, he does only charge $40. I asked Kevin about that, and no reply. -I appreciate him giving me a discount, but wish he didn't lie or interacted that way 2. Comments about the Mini -He starts making random comments about my Mini Cooper; "you need a new engine, they breakdown a lot, you bought for 3k, you overpaid, etc" -What he doesn't realize is that I have had a lot of Mini Coopers and worked on a lot of them for fun. He definitely didn't know what he was talking about. After challenging his comments, his reply was sheepish. -After my Mini didn't pass, he said I need a new a engine, which I brought my Mini to a mechanic to verify (because I thought maybe he's right) and after paying it to be diagnosed ($130), the Mechanic commented that the car is in great shape 3. Failed the second time for issues that aren't even true -the first time I failed, I understood because my check engine light came on and had the mechanic fixed it. -the second time he failed it because he kept flooring it at least 6 or 7 times. Smoke came out the 7th time and failed it right then and there even though on the computer it had passed. On the paper, he wrote smoke came out after 3 tries of pressing on the gas. I would be not happy, but okay if he wrote that smoke came out after 6 or 7 tries. But it just seems strange that he would make stuff up and be silent when I asked him about that. 4. I took the car to another place to test the smog and was genuinely curious. It passed and was told your car is in great shape! I don't know about this place. read more

Need a smog check and you are in the Milpitas area? It is a no frills sort of place. The waiting area is a small room with a few magazines to browse through. There's no Starbucks coffee or Directv for your viewing pleasure. Kevin was nice, speaks Cantonese and we were in and out within 25 minutes. It is a STAR certified station if it means anything to you. Cost is $70, so not the cheapest around. read more

Won't be coming here again. Technician connects the obd scanner, the connector under your steering wheel, to the car and says that he cant get a signal. Funny because the RPM and gas gauge move when you step on the pedal. Then tries to say that I modded the engines computer or electrical equipment and that it broke his machine LOL. After he says this, you can see that his connector is all beat up and that some of the metal flinges were bent from probably putting it in the wrong way. Next he tells me to wait for him to smog another guy and see what happens. It turns out that the other guys car isnt sending in a signal either. He tells me then to come back in the afternoon but I instead went straight to 1638 S. Main St where my car was sending a signal just FINE. My car passed at this other location and it was cheaper then the price this place was quoting me. This review would probably be a whole lot different if he just maintained his machine. My friend told me to come here for a smog after she passed hers here. She told me a guy named Kevin helped her and that he's really good. So I drive up and holler at him for help and he's so nice! A small Asian guy who is super enthusiastic and friendly. His Chinese accent sounds so generic like he's from a cartoon ha. Anyways he's super helpful. He even informed me about how some of my connector wires were misplaced and that he moved it back into place and didn't want me to think he was doing anything funky. (at least that's what I thought he said cuz I have no idea about cars and could barely understand his accent lol). He even made conversation about my piercings and told me what to do to renew my registration. Altogether I paid 70 bucks for a smog test with free retest. It was 60 bucks with 10 bucks in fees. I'm sure I couldve gotten one smog test for 40 bucks somewhere else but I didnt want it to fail and pay more to have it retested. Anyways I don't care i passed and I didn't have to fix anything hallelujah hollaback. read more

I had to pass the smog test with a star certified station. After viewing the good reviews on yelp, I thought I would go with this one because it was the closest from my location. My car's check engine light was on, and I have not noticed it. After 30 mins he tells me it failed the test because of that , and that I needed to go check that at the dealership as he could not help with the issue. He charged me $55 , even though he knew that it would fail even before using his instruments. After that he tells me that it's only $15 if I come back for the retest within a month. I asked him to not charge me the full price because the check engine light was already on before being tested and he should have let me know in advance, but he refused to do me any favor. I did not want to argue more on the subject and paid the full amount and left. For the retest (or a new test, I should say) I went to a Star station in Sunnyvale after 2 months as I had to do the repair. I paid $38 for this one. So my overall experience with this Milpitas Smog Check station is really bad. I feel that I've been ripped off! read more

I first went here in 2006 to smog my Honda Prelude which was having some issues. Kevin Wong is the owner and will do the best he can to help you fix issues that your car may have in order to pass the smog check. With the help from his advice, I was able to pass the smog check. Some places will charge you quite a bit of $$$ to work on your car and will tell you that they need to check this and that and will not offer advice until they actually start working on the car. Kevin is an awesome guy my dad bought a used ford F450 and they told him that he would have to get it smogged Kevin took the time to show my dad the BAR regualtions for diesels and showed him that any diesel over 14000 GVWR was smogged exempt. he saved my dad time and money.
