I thought he has most reasonable price of $45 (incl certificate) among STAR certified stations. One thing to note though if you have to retest, there is a $15 additional charge. I saw some others smog centers offer the retest if failed for free, but they also tend to charge more initially. If you have a good car that you expect to pass, this place is a certainly a good deal. He was very nice to me. I failed my first test and he did not charge me the certificate fees and less than $15 for the re-test since it failed again, although he knew that I cannot come back to him after two consecutive fails (as per rules). read more

Kevin does a fantastic job for the customer. Quick, efficient, and polite. This place is STAR certified Test and repair station. Certificate price and test are reasonable. I want to address some complaints from ppl who have a bad situation when they called. I notice his phone is directly next to the test machine which is next to a RUNNING car inside a garage. My point...ITS LOUD! I barely noticed a call ringing and he had to turn off my car to answer it. By the time he said hello, they hung up. I believe this is one of those "Star Stations" that sometimes your renewal requires. The guy quoted me $70 total, (including the certificate) for a 1999 auto. read more

Excellent service, Kevin Wong's test center is as good as it gets. I took my car here for my first smog check in California and he walked me through the process. He came across as knowledgable and honest, and his prices are competitive (I paid $69.96 for test and cert). I spent months trying to get anyone to work on my old vehicle and get it through a smog check. It failed seven times in a row. Nobody in Milpitas would touch it except Kevin, who took it on and fixed and smogged it in a couple of days. He also replaced parts including plugs and plug wires, one of which was worn and which I didn't know about. He kept all the old parts to show me what he'd replaced and why. He was able to give me useful information about the internal condition of the engine, too. He gave me a fair estimate before starting and charged me a more than fair price for doing the job. He came across as knowledgeable and friendly and could easily have turned the vehicle away like everyone else did. Outstanding. read more

I called around and Milpitas Smog Check was competitive in pricing. I was quoted $40 for a smog test plus $10 for the certificate for a total of $50. The mechanic appeared friendly and cordial. During the test, I saw the mechanic using a long type screw driver in the engine. Don't know why but I thought it was an odd tool, nothing that would be used for checking the timing. After the test, it failed due to ignition timing though emissions passed. Had to take it to another mechanic to adjust the timing for $65. I discovered later that Milpitas Smog Check's customary free re-test wasn't included. On the original receipt, the free re-test was crossed out and handwritten was $30+cert for a re-test. I was never told for a $40 smog test, it would NOT include the one free re-test. Weeks later, right before visiting again for the re-test, I called to simply confirm if the smog test included one free re-test, and he said yes. I was perplexed. When I came in for the re-test, I asked why I was charged a re-test. And he said for a $40 smog test, it didn't include the free re-test. So my total cost or bottom-line was... $40 smog test, $10 certificate, $30 re-test ($5 discount) $65 ignition timing adjustment $140 TOTAL In conclusion, I didn't like how the charges unfolded, particularly the customer service of not explaining I received a discounted price excluding the free re-test. Overall, it causes suspicion. Unfortunately, I will never conduct my business there again. And I will not recommend the place to family or friends. read more

While Milpitas Smog Check gets the job done -- so does every other smog check place. They're licensed, monitored and inspected by the State of California. It then all comes down to price. My problem with Milpitas Smog Check is that the pricing is "fluid". I originally took one vehicle to get it smogged here when I had phoned and been offered a good price. Yesterday I took another vehicle in without phoning, and the price offered was $50 PLUS fees. While I stood there considering the offer, I noticed that his present customer's paperwork was on the counter. He was being charged $29.95. I guess I looked more expensive. I walked. read more

Highly recommended. My Acura had a difficult to diagnose "monitor not complete" problem. Several mechanics including an Acura dealer were not eager to work on the car. This shop fixed it and at a reasonable price. read more

i have to agree with the last 3 post that the owner kevin is a nice guy. but PLEASE do some research before paying $69.95 for the service. His service paper (your receipt) says the cost is $99.00. He crosses out the $99 and writes $59.00 making you believe you are getting a great deal and the total you will be paying is $59, but when you hand him your credit card, he will charege you 69.95 because he added the fee's for the license and tax. very deceiving. Go across the street (literally across the street) to A1 smog and pay a total of $40.20 for everything. no hidden fee's. you do the math and make your decision. REMEMBER: that these are "test only" stations and will not work on your car for you. a good question to ask is, why are some shops charging WAY more than others for the same service. read more

Kevin has always treated me and my cars well. My employer also uses him for all 3 of our work vans. One time, my car didn't pass and Kevin worked his hardest to get it to pass. It still didn't, but he made an educated guess at what the issue was and it fixed the problem. It passed with flying colors the next time. I always recommend Milpitas Smog. read more

Never ever go for Smog Check in this shop. My wife went tor Smog Check yesterday, Kevin Wong charged her $46.75 and he told that he is giving her discount. But I did smog check in a Santa Clara based shop on 06/05/2017 for our 2nd car and they charged $34.95 which is their standard rate. This person is reaping his customers. read more

I owned a Honda Civic 1992, took it to Jiffy lube smog test center got my car inside to run the smog test, Men the personnel just took their sweet little time over an hour just waiting for the guy to wrap up and finish the test and finally it came to conclusion and I was called, he told me that my car failed. they were charging me to fix it the following discrepancies Gas Cap $20, Timing $ 60 retest $ 39. so I left and bough the Cap for $ 9.00 and I started to search for another smog test shop good reasonable price smog test shop and this one came up and I called make an appointment, took my car and meet Kevin the owner of the shop he charge me $ 50 for the smog and $ 10 for the certificate if my car pass. (failed). so Kevin help me out and told me to work on the timing how to adjust and what to do. Took it back today 05.20.2013 for the retest which is free you can't beat that, run another test after 15 min he asked me to fill up the form for my certificate because my car just pass the smog. Stopped by here after work today to have my car smogged. The test was $70. I was immediately helped, and the test was very fast (10 minutes or so). Be aware, they do not take checks (not a problem for me), but do take cash and credit. Friendly, clean, and fast, with a quiet waiting area. They submit the smog test electronically to the DMV, too. read more
