The check engine light came on and I noticed reduced power in my Ram diesel pickup. After being…read moretold the diagnostic would be $150 I dropped the truck off at Grumpy's Diesel Service in Cantonment, FL. I was told it needed a new turbocharger and the cost would be $8,400 plus the possibility of an additional $2500 if a nox sensor had indeed failed also. Although I was mentally prepared for the 8 grand, I was not prepared for the news that it would take three weeks to repair. When I asked why so long I was told it would be a week to get the parts then two weeks to do the job. When I pressed as to why it would take two weeks to do a twelve hour job she replied they can't just work on my truck. They would work on mine a while then work on other vehicles for a while. I declined repairs and was shocked when the $150 diagnostic was actually $176.84. They padded the bill with $10 of "shop supplies" (aren't supplies a part of doing business?) and $4.50 HM fee plus sales tax. I drove the truck 325 miles to the Ram dealer in Chiefland, FL (where I'd had maintenance done previously) with no isssues other than it didn't have enough power to get out of its own way. I dropped it off at 8am on a Monday morning and later that day they called and said an actuator had failed, the turbo was fine. After informing the service advisor I needed to get back to my rv in Pensacola due to family medical issues he said they could overnight the part for an additional $200. Even so i was pleasantly surprised when the dealership called at 11am the next morning and said the truck was ready. Cost? $3800. I was "home" shortly after dark with a properly functioning truck. I will never set foot in Grumpy's Diesel Service again even if my truck stops running at their doorstep and I recommend you seek repairs elsewhere also.

I phoned NWF Mobile RV and they were prompt in providing a next day appointment. Showed up on time and was very friendly. He diagnosed my unit and determined that it needed replacement. I thought that since it had been over a year since I purchased my RV it was going to be out of warranty. He did the leg work and found that GE has a 2-year warranty on their units. Great news. He proceeded to do the claim for me. GE then required a more in-depth diagnosis. Which would have been another service call and more money. He said if I could bring him the unit, he wouldn't charge me another diagnostic fee/service call fee. Can't argue with that. He quickly completed the additional diagnostic and accompanying paperwork, and I was on my way. I was told that we would have to wait for GE to approve the claim and drop ship the new unit. I received a text within 2 days and was told it was approved and had to wait for the unit. The unit arrived in a couple of days. He had me drop my RV off at his shop so he could do the replacement. I received a text message later the same day and was told that my RV was ready and I could pick up my unit the next day. This process took less than a week. Which is crazy fast. When I first got my RV, the fridge didn't work (brand new RV first owner of it), and it took a YEAR to get a replacement under warranty from Camping World. Needless to say, I was very happy. Fast forward 2 years and the same thing just happened again. AC stopped working. I messaged over a few days and was initially told that he was booked up (understandable) but he would try his best to get me taken care of next week. Well, he rearranged his schedule and met me outside of his service area to check it out. Did some initial diagnosing and found that the unit did not have power going to it. We had checked the breakers, they seemed good, and I tested the capacitor for the AC on the roof which tested fine. After further investigation it was determined that the breaker was tripped. He said he had to turn the breaker off and press down hard on it, then he flipped it back to the on position. AC came back to life. This really came in clutch. We are living in our RV right now and my girl is 9 months pregnant and understandably miserable. We had to go to Walmart and grab a 10K BTU portable AC unit (pain in the butt to use/maintain) only for it to not be able to keep up making life not so bearable. I can't thank him enough for making us a priority and getting to us very quickly and getting our AC back up and running again. On top of that I was only charged $150. Will not hesitate to use again. He suggested to replace the breaker for the AC which will not cost a lot and is easy to do. He also looked at my roof and suggested that I reseal around everything. Even gave me the name of the material I should be using to do it. He said I would be able to do it myself to save a bit of money and told me how to do it. He didn't have to do that, but he did. Those kinds of things mean a lot. He went above and beyond

Called NWF Mobile RV and they arrived 1.5 hours later and found the leak and did a temporary repair as needed to order parts. I mentioned that our refrigerator wasn't running which he fixed in a minute (found reset pushbutton). When we left the resort, I dropped off our RV at their service area and permanent shower repairs were made. Since the wheel bearings were due for a grease job soon had Eddie do that as well. All work was completed at a reasonable price.

They could have said the entire turbo unit was bad (extremely expensive!) but they were able to identify the exact part. This was done as hurricane Isaac preparation was under way so they weren't able to obtain the part as fast as we needed. Despite knowing we were going to have someone else install it, they gave me all of the necessary part information, their supplier, and happily answered my many questions. The cost was average but their service as a reliable, dependable, and resourceful repair shop was easily worth the cost. If we weren't in a time crunch we would have had them install the part and will absolutely use them in the future.

My coworker Hannah referred me to Andre, she said he and his work are amazing. Before this, I tried Youtube, Google, Reddit, etc. for DIY tips, but nothing worked. I called him in a Friday evening and he fixed it that same day. It took a few tools and steps, but Andre and his intern/assistant finished it within minutes and at no cost. This was such a blessing.
