Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner at melts stage shop. We had the New York steak with a baked potato, and it was cooked perfectly and very well seasoned. Highly recommend the loaded baked potato. The shrimp cocktail was good, however, not sure it should be $20. I would say it would be better around $15. That said the shrimp was fresh and the cocktail sauce was very good. The salad bar was great and had a ton of options and the rolls are fresh baked, which are really, really good. We also splurged and had the chocolate lava cake which was fantastic. Absolutely light and airy and served with fresh ice cream. On top of everything the service was great, and everyone was extremely friendly. You could see the owner peeing down from the top of the stairs, making sure everyone was taken care of and also helping out. Full bar service as well. Definitely will be back!

This place was great. The staff took good care of us and the my 7 and 5 year old boys and let them pick their ice cream.

    Shrimp scampi

Service was great, but the steaks were NOT up to par. You'll get better shrimp scampi from a lean cuisine. I'm a foodie from CA, so I guess my standard might be different and biased. I must say, all the food I've eaten in Utah (St. George, Bryce, Cedar City, Zion) have all been mid lol. If you wanna know what you're getting, it's just an old musty steak house with flavorless food. Appreciated the salad bar and a glass of Pinot! Won't go back if I'm ever in the area again.

Decided to go to Milts because where we're staying they recommended it and also yelp did. It's a very old building and very rustic inside. But it's a very comfortable feeling. I had Philly mignon and buffalo chips, that are slices of fried baked potato and they were terrific. My husband had prime rib, rare and rice. We got Bread and one of the best salad bars I've ever been to. They had your normal stuff, but then they also had beets, cucumbers, peas, broccoli was very good. I also ordered an old-fashioned, but it was not right, tasted like bourbon and water. So I sent it back and got a gin and tonic that was perfect so of course I had to have another one. Two full for dessert. Our server was.Aubriella and she was help

Love the Salad bar!! So much variety to choose from! Salad bar comes with the entree's. The steak/lobster, king crab, shrimp cocktail, artichoke and all the sides were delicious. Hot rolls, amazing. Service was really good, food came out fast. The ambiance, fun, like a cabin with dead animals on the wall. I had no idea this place was up the canyon. The first night I went I ordered way too much food. I came back the very next night and just got the salad bar. It was super good!

    Backyard scene out our window.

Again, This place is amazing. Both of us had the Prime Rib. Arrived 10 minutes before opening and did not have to wait. Server was prompt and very nice. Ordered right away and our food was out in 5-6 minutes. Prime Rib was tasty and cooked to perfection. Horseradish sauce was potent and delicious. Love the backyard scene. Salad bar is also excellent.

Local steakhouse in the mountains. One of if not the best salad a bar ever! Decor Is on point with elk and deer. Tons of hummingbirds food was great drinks were meh small and not strong. Service was great. Over all solid 4.5-5 JMO. Streak was a little under seasoned but still very good. $$$ price was fine and will definitely be back.

Best restaurant in Cedar City. Great staff, amazing steak, salad bar, good wine even though it is in Utah.

The steaks we had were really good and not pricey. The fried zucchini portions was huge but greasy.

Is there any dog friendly seating?

    I'm pretty sure there isn't.

    Are you open on Sunday?

They are open on Sunday 5PM....I have been disappointed in there quality of food and their cooking of steaks lately though. Not as good as they use to be.

    Is there a dress code?

Nothing about a dress code is posted, if I recall right.... we we fairly casually dressed.

    Is there a kids meal?

Yes there is a kids menu. It is mostly smaller portions of our popular items, along with chicken strips. We also have Mac and Cheese upon request.

The lobster wasn't big but it was enough and tender! And juicy! Our guest had the seafood ravioli. Also amazing. Especially the sauce. Hubs had the rack of lamb. Just excellent. The service was excellent, we were seated immediately and brought out bread to start. The ambiance was very homey and welcoming! Ryan, our server, was great! We had a fun conversation with him, and he recommended some of his favorites, which made the experience even better. We went with a ribeye steak, cooked and flavored to perfection. We also tried the Alfredo pasta with shrimp--it was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. Ended it with three desert because we couldn't choose one-- highly recommend the limoncello. It was very light, with the perfect tinge of lemon. The lava cake & ice cream is always my go to! And the homemade tiramisu was probably my most favorite. I'm honestly not of fan of tiramisu but this was probably one of the best I've tasted. Highly recommend & will be coming back next time we're in town.

While ordering at the counter, I needed to make a quick adjustment after getting confused about one of the items. During that moment, a 'white' gentleman was waiting behind me, and instead of simply acknowledging him with "I'll be with you shortly," the lady staff apologized to him for my delay in ordering (according to her). Shortly after, while I was still in the middle of ordering and asking about tea options, she abruptly moved on to take his order without any explanation or communication. The interaction felt dismissive and uncomfortable as well I felt strong I am treated with racism, especially in the condition when I was pregnant who crave all good food.... As for the food, most of it was enjoyable. The scrambled eggs on the croissant and the pancakes were well done. However, the onion soup was overly salty, likely due to the cheese which was in the soup and also on the bread. Another downside, especially as first-time visitors, was the lack of guidance. We weren't informed that water was self-serve, and only realized it after noticing another guest getting it themselves. Interestingly, when leaving, we saw staff pouring water for newly seated guests, which added to the inconsistency. Overall, the food showed effort from the kitchen, but the service experience was disappointing. The 2-star rating is mainly in appreciation of the quality of the dishes. Cafe is quite small and we felt hot, as there's only a portable AC that couldn't accommodate that size of room. Not recommended place, even this is one of the rarest cafe in town. Rather to spend money to somewhere worthy and respect you as guest, no matter what roots you have.
