Tried a new taco spot that didn't seem too busy for a Saturday. I ordered two different tacos: the Firecracker Shrimp and the Brisket taco. The brisket one wasn't too great -- the brisket flavor wasn't really there. The corn tortillas were also bland and didn't seem warmed or toasted, which made a difference. The Firecracker Shrimp taco was okay, but nothing too crazy either. Overall, it seemed more about the presentation than the taste. The inside is nice though, and the service was good. read more

The BEST tacos around!!! These are creative and so filling. I can usually put down 3 or 4 street tacos but I was struggling to eat a 3rd one. There is so much food in a single serving. Creative "craft taco" restaurant. Lots of unique, flavorful taco options and other traditional Mexican food with a modern flair. There is an open air, industrial feel to the restaurant. Since they've expanded, there is lots of seating and an expansive bar area. The kitchen is open to the restaurant. Every time we've visited, the staff is attentive and kind. They get our drink order in quickly and return in a reasonable amount of time for food orders. It can be hard to narrow down what to eat, there are so many delicious options. They had a mocktail available for cinco de mayo - the "Cinco de Mocktail" (Guava juice, fresh strawberry puree, fresh lime juice, agave, topped with soda water) that was so refreshing and I hope they'll keep or continue to offer an alternative mocktail. We have been coming here for years- not a great meal to say the least! Tried the breaded ribs way to heavy/ too much breading and too much sauce/ tried and true brisket tacos- came out cold and not very tasty- shrimp tacos not too palatable ( I didn't eat it - husband ordered it ). I stopped in one weekday afternoon for lunch. I had the esquites (corn, jalapeño mayo, cotija, tajin) which was delicious and a little spicy. I also had a fried avocado taco. The jalapeño mayo and corn and bean pico made it very flavorful and not at all bland. I also had a plantain taco which was tasty with garlic beet cream, carrot escabeche and slaw, and the sweetness of the plantain was nice. My food came out fairly quickly which was great, because then a couple of groups came in. This was a nice, quick lunch and I'd be glad to come back and try other dishes. read more

This was our first time eating at Milwalky Taco in Libertyville. If you'd like sports bars, this is the place to go. They have plenty of indoor as well as outdoor seating. The service was great! We didn't have to wait long to get a table or to be waited on. Since this was our first time there, the waitress was helpful in providing us with suggestions as to what we might like. I genuinely triy to avoid giving a restaurant a bad review as I know it is a difficult business. There's something wrong here at Milwalky taco the food used to be excellent now it's just so so the staff, including the cooks seem to be disinterested. while I was there the one bus boy was just sitting there texting ignoring customers, and I happened to glance over at one of the cooks she was standing there texting or surfing the net. I cannot be the only person that's disappointed with this place as I note that the restaurant was basically empty on a Thursday night. This place used to always be hopping and it was difficult to even find a seat to sit down or get a table. That's not the case anymore. My hope is that management recognizes that there may be a problem and will bring this restaurant back to the high standard that it once was. read more

Awesome tacos place in the heart of Libertyville. We came for lunch today after arriving for the holidays. We were greeted fairly quickly but had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Once seated we viewed the menu and I found the tacos I was interested based on a recommendation. I ordered the brisket and carne asada tacos. The brisket was well cooked and tender with a hint of spice. The best was the carne asada sweet and heat was perfect for me. We also ordered chips and salsa and guacamole. We were provided a red and green chile salsa and each had diverse flavors of sweet and spicy. Guacamole was not the best I've had but was good. Met a fried for lunch have never been here but walked by many times. Good selection of tacos and margarittas. I had the brisket, carnival and pastor. The brisket was probably the best .some of the other eschewed a little dry needed sauce. All had different toppings to go with the proteins. They had lots of margarittas to chose from. Been going here since it opened when it was owned by Lee and Christine. I was a frequent patron and always tipped at least 20%. Fast forward, I have not visited this place for over 2 years. We stopped there for a quick dinner and sat at the bar as usual. The bartender (Jacqueline) was short and curt. Food quality has degraded along with their margaritas. The treatment from this bartender could not be any colder. A co-worker recognized us and started conversing with him (Mitch). To our dismay, Jacqueline shut this kid down from conversing with us. How rude and unprofessional! I felt bad for Mitch as he remembered my classic car and us as a long-term customer. Hopefully this message gets to the owner Steve Burns. Food: The quality of the food the flavor, and freshness really was amazing. I haven't had anything this good in a while. I will say definitely get the tacos they are amazing! So I came here specifically because one of my co worker told me the best burrito he ever had was at this location. Although it I won't come back for their burrito, their taco might have me coming back. Brisket burrito: Not as flavorful or different from a normal burrito that I usually have. I was expecting to recognize something unique about it but it met the standard taste texture. Taco: Tortilla feel and tasted fresh. A little pricey but noticeably different in quality. A good amount of options that has their own flair and Horchata: Very sweet and refreshing. Not too sweet for my palate but could be for someone else. Service: Quick and responsive. We started with an order of the queso fundido. It was pretty good, it was served in a little car iron skillet with a bag of chips. To drink, I had a margarita. For my main, I was torn between which tacos to order. I ended up ordering the salmon, camaron, and the plantain tacos. What I didn't love was their dining plates. Everything felt like it came on a plate or tray that just barely fit the food. With regard to my tacos, the plantain and shrimp had way too much crema on top. It overpowered the plantain and I could barely tell which taco it was. The giveaway was the pink crema. The salmon was my favorite of the three and was pretty good. We got seated right away. My husband and I decided to swing by for lunch. We had our 6 month old baby and the hostess asked if we needed a kids menu for our baby. lol Service- 2/5 the waiter was in the middle of taking our orders but got interrupted by his coworker and left us while we were talking to him. It was really rude. We waited awhile for him to come back to finally take our orders Food- 1/5 highly disappointed. Salsa was so bland. Calamari was very very salty. I had the pork belly and salmon tacos. My pork belly taco came out cold. The salmon taco was okay. My husband was very disappointed at his carne asada tacos too. They were really bland. I have just became a huge fan of this place! Visited last Saturday night with my husband, and we both loved it! We started off with salted rim margaritas of course, guac, chips and salsa, which btw I am obsessed with, since it has just a tiny spicy level which is perfect for me. Chips were fresh and crispy. Before ordering I was a little bit skeptical about getting a guac that is only $5 (having in consideration that their large guac portion is $22 and its supposed to feed 10 people) I just thought that we will be getting a tiny container with guac, but I was so wrong! it was a great portion and way enough for both, very shareable! Just if you read this, no worries, go for it... it is sooooo worthy! :) We also tried six tacos of around 15 that they offer. Here, listed from what I liked the most to the one I just liked: Carnitas, Plantain, Pastor, Camaron, Brisket and Asada. I can't praise the plantain and carnitas tacos enough! Place is cute and nice decorated, it has a cool vibe. You can see the kitchen and I feel places earn my trust once they let us see their kitchen! Food is great, service is fast, but 3 stars because they do not have menus. They make you scan a QR code and refuse to give you a printed menu. I guess if you dont have a smartphone with a camera, or you decide to have a night out with your company and leave you phone behind, they dont want your business. It is chintzy, annoying and frankly makes me feel like Im being exploited. I dont want to go on their website. I dont want phones at the table because I want to spend time with my family. The last time we went, only one in our group's phone was charged so she had to pass her phone to everybody who had to remember what they wanted. Look, I like saving the planet and all, but this is not the way. I realize they save money by foisting this cost (and internet cookies) on their customers, but its frankly insulting. Five years ago, in Mid 2020, about half of the restaurants went to online menus with QR codes, and we put up with it because it was such a nice treat to go out. Now, 5 years after the initial waves of Covid, this is the only restaurant I know that is too cheap to print menus for its patrons in 2025. Stopped in here for an early dinner. This place has trendy written all over it, it's definitely a class above your average taco place. I had the quesabirria and a side of the corn that I can't spell off the top of my head. Everything was delicious but i wish the meat in the taco had been shredded a bit more, it was a little hard to eat with big chunks falling out. For dessert I had the empanada, the current filling is caramel apple. Also delicious but I didn't really taste any caramel, it was more like apple cinnamon filling. Either was it was worth eating and even came with some tasty ice cream. Service was excellent, staff following all protocols and the place was clean. I went here recently for the first time. I had known about them for a while but hadn't made a point to check them out until now. I was in the area getting something else and saw them across the street so I decided I grab a couple of tacos to try them out. The place was busy (mostly at the bar side). I was ordering food to go. I didn't see an attendant/ host by the entrance so I went towards the kitchen area in the hopes to catch an eye of the host/ server/ manager. It didn't occur to me to ask at the bar about ordering food to go. Near the kitchen area, I came across a lady who I think was the manager and she told me to go to the bar and where I would be helped. I did so. Before getting hold of the bar tender, I browsed through their menu. I liked what I saw in terms of food and drinks options. They had specials menu as well. There was a good variety to choose from. The food is a bit on the pricey. But that's expected as this is not a low key taco joint or a fast food place. Once I made the eye contact with the bar tender, I told her what I wanted. I ordered one Pastor taco and one Walking taco. The other choices sounded good too but these two tacos caught my eye immediately. The tacos are priced between $3 - $5 per taco. I received my food to go quickly. I liked the service especially in the late afternoon when the bar area was busy. I normally ask for hot sauce(s) but I didn't this time around and forgot to ask for plastic ware for the Walking taco. I had the Pastor taco first since I didn't have plastic ware to eat the other taco. It was small (street taco style) but was loaded and full of flavor. I liked the flavor meat (cooked properly - no charred or chewy pieces), the pineapple and other garnishes. It hit the spot. I was at a mall after the food pick-up so I grabbed a fork from their food court to eat my Walking taco. I had heard about Walking tacos before but never had it until now. It was good as well. Again, flavorful. This taco was definitely filling. Chili con carne, frito corn chips and garnishes. The food hit the spot and it made me want more of their stuff. I'll definitely be going back and the next time will be dine-in because I want to have some of their drinks as well. I would definitely recommend folks to check out this restaurant.
