I recently lunched at La Presa with a very nice lady; we arrived quite late in the afternoon, so were a bit uncertain about it being open...but, it was! We were seated immediately, and the waitress immediately brought out some warm tortilla chips and one of the hottest, most amazing salsa I've ever said. Now. I've had salsa, and I've had salsa. This...was SALSA! Absolutely perfectly made, thoroughly spiced and incredibly hot. It was delicious! Hot diggity dog! NB In case you can't tell, I love very hot, very flavourful food. So, anyway. We both ordered 'house' margaritas (being a bit uncertain of anything else) and not only were they wonderfully cool and delicious, they were quite enormous. It was like a goldfish bowl, on a stem. Hot diggity dog! La Presas specialises in seafood entrées and they did not disappoint; everything was wonderfully prepared and presented beautifully. I ordered the seafood ceviche (with octopus) and it was wonderful; I can't believe I finished the entire platter. NB As one may imagine, I didn't have much dinner that night. La Presa is an excellent restaurant, with excellent food and wonderful service. I will definitely plan to return! read more

We decided to try this restaurant as it was near our friend's house. The BIG problem with this place is that they cheat on meal pricing. We were handed very large menus with lots of photos of food BUT NO PRICES. There was a decal on the table to view the menu virtually, but when we tried it, we got a message that the link was disabled due to "hacking," which the waitress didn't seem aware of or interested in. We continued to ask for pricing, and the waitress brought out a takeout brochure. We ordered our meals based on that pricing. The food was just okay: not very tasty. We ordered the ""Cielo Mar Y Terra," basically beef/chicken/shrimp "fajitas." The dishes had the stated ingredients but were not very tasty. Although the price on the brochure we were given listed the dish for $20.99, we were charged $24.99 each in the bill. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress at the cash register, she brought out the manager. The manager was very snotty, and told us we had to pay $24.99 because we had shrimp in our entrees, even though the shrimp were included in the photo of "Cielo Mar Y Terra" listed at $20.99 in the brochure. The manager refused to adjust the price. We told her we would not be back. Based on our experience, we recommend you avoid dining here. read more

We called on Cinco de Mayo to see if they were taking reservations. The woman who answered said they were so we made a reservation for 7 pm. When we walked in the front dining room was half empty on a day when Mexican restaurants are usually packed. There was one woman in the role of hostess and waitress for the front. The woman told us to take a seat so we did. We waited 20 minutes without her coming to our table for any reason. At that point we decided to leave while we could still easily do so. read more

La Presa has a large menu. The food is delicious. The margaritas are good, and large. They serve Mexican Coke products, which are made with cane sugar. Better than American soda. La Presa has improved over the last twelve months. It's worth another try. But I wish the menu had prices. read more

My review is based on the dessert that I ate. I stopped at his restaurant hoping to enjoy a Mexican dessert. The flan would have been super delicious but I actually had to throw it out. It seems that they put the flan open uncovered, in the same fridge they put other food because the other food had taken over the flan causing it to taste a bit spicy and even smell strong. I cut off the outer parts of the flan and the inside tasted fantastic. I would definitely give this place another chance but skip dessert. read more

Very extensive seafood menu. The presentation of the food is great and you get big servings. Chips are made in house and had a nice crisp to them. You get 3 salsas and each has a nice heat and flavor to them. I had the mojarra a la presa. The fish was nicely fried and the skin has a nice crisp to it. The dish came with rice, onions and jalapenos. The jalapenos added a really nice heat to the fish. The seasoning for the fish had a nice salt and garlic taste. There are non seafood items on the menu so you have options. Service was great, the waitstaff was very knowledgeable with the menu and gave great recommendations. New restaurant where rito's see to be. They have several other locations in the area. Very good authentic Mexican food. They have a HUGE menu with a ton of different options. Probably over 150 items on the menu. Their liquor License should be active within a couple weeks. Our service was excellent with only one waitress working at the time we were there. The portion sizes were good. My father-in-law had the fajitas, which he said were really good. My wife enjoyed shrimp tacos. The chips come with 3 different types of salsas. Good location and easy to park. As a small group we got there and an older lady was at the front desk, not very welcoming but sat is down right away. Our server didn't say his name but was nice and friendy. You get complimentary chips and salsa. Got our drinks and our order right. As for the food, they serve you in large plates that look very nice. And are nicely presented. The food itself is ok. The people in my group were conflicted to either give the place a 2 star to a 3 star review. I have it a 3 because or waiter was good with us. Oh and our tip was included in the bill with 15 percent. This restaurant is great! I live in the complex next to this place and it's beyond easy to come by and pick up a few things for dinner or just to snack on. Their menu is extensive and they have something for everyone. There are so many dishes to choose from that it'll probably take a year just to try everything. The first time I got food from here, I had the steak fajitas and thoroughly enjoyed them. The meat was cooked and seasoned well and the veggies were tasty. The meal came with the usual fare of rice and beans which were good but not exceptional - pretty much the same as any other Mexican restaurant - and tortillas. It was more food than I could manage. I've also had the steak burrito, which I'm a huge fan of. The burrito is HUGE - it's about a foot long - and packed with steak, sauce, rice, beans, and everything else. It delicious but I've never been able to finish it. My boyfriend is particularly found of their chicken burrito. I think my favorite so far are their tacos. I've had shrimp, steak, fish, and chicken tacos from here. Fish is by far my favorite - it's fried and salty and works really well with the cilantro and onion toppings. You can also have lettuce, tomato, and cheese as a taco topping. The shrimp tacos are good - they have some heat to them and a good amount of shrimp. The steak tacos are tasty as well. Chips are clearly made in house and they have fantastic guacamole. I've tried a variety of their salsas and I think all have great flavor - although it's true that they're all on the spicy side. Overall, I think the place has pretty authentic Mexican fare with a wide variety of dishes. I've only gotten take out so I can't speak for the service, but I haven't had an issues with pick up. Pick up orders are super fast - usually 10 minutes. I have no idea why people are giving this place poor reviews because they don't have a liquor license yet. I feel like that doesn't reflect the quality of the restaurant and isn't a valid gripe for a place that just opened. read more

Needed a quick bite. Used to love the previous restaurant. Wait staff was the worst. No water, no chips, then brought wrong margarita after 20 minutes. Moving from the Chicago to Buffalo Grove it was hard to find a good Authentic Mexican restaurant. This place is authentic and the food is served hot and fresh unlike its neighbor Grande Jakes. This is officially our taco place. The menu is huge and the atmosphere is relaxing. The prices are also reasonable my whole family of 4 ate for $30 which is rare. No more Jakes for us! read more

We used to go to this location several times a month when it was Las Palmas and when it became Rito's. Now it is called La Presa and since we got a Restaurant.com coupon for $25 off a $50 purchase, we thought that we would try it again. First of all, it looks really nice with a nicely decorated exterior and interior. Sadly, after that it all began to go down hill. There was only one table occupied and no one hosting at the front door so we all stood there for about 5 minutes until someone came out of the kitchen to seat us. The new menus are very nice, with photos of all the dining offerings. We ordered Guacamole which is no longer prepared tableside as it was at Las Palmas and turned out to have almost no taste. I immediately thought it was green Crisco. For the first time I had to put salsa on Guacamole in order to give it some flavor. The food took a very long time to be served and when it was it was barely above room temperature. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery and the steak was tough as shoe leather (I ordered it Medium and it came out Well Done). They are supposed to have "authentic" Mexican food but if so, well that's pretty sad. My wife's opinion was that it was "underwhelming" and that we won't be back and that says it all. The reason for 1 Star is that it is the lowest one can go. My wife got an upset stomach from eating there. I predict that this location won't last much longer. read more
