Came here on a Tuesday evening with coworkers. None of us had ever been here so we were in for a surprise! Upon entering, it sounded like a club (not in a bad way); tasteful even. We were seated in the incredibly large heated patio. Our server was super nice and attentive. I ordered the Parmesan fried calamari to share with a coworker. It was super greasy. I liked the taste but after a while it was giving me a slight headache, which I will safely assume is from the grease. Following, I ordered the bread pudding, which I did not anticipate being so large! And it came with whipped cream and ice cream. The photo doesn't do it justice how large and wide it was. Stopped here for dinner on the way home from shopping. The GF app showed the safety rating as a 5 so we decided to check it out. I've been here multiple times before but this was the first time since being diagnosed with celiac. They have a huge dining room with lots of tables. We chose to sit by the TVs to watch some of the games. They also have an impact fuel room which serves as a music venue. They are hosting a Taylor Swift theme concert in a few weeks which would be fun to attend. They do not have any GF items marked on their menu but their website said a lot of dishes can be made GF. I ordered an aperol spritz and a beyond burger with a GF bun. They do not have a separate fryer for fries so I opted for mashed potatoes. I used to love this place. Any time I've ever had family or friends come into town, i brought them here. My last visit i brought my buddy from the USMC that i havent seen in 15 years. We got seated and got our food and drinks, and everything was good. I loved the food and so did my buddy and his family. We were definitely a jovial group but i wouldnt say we were loud. However then the host walks past the table and says to our server "the other group wants to sit outside bc its so loud" and he made sure to say it loud enough for us to hear. But i let it go. He then steps away from the host counter on two separate occasions to just walkby our table, stop and just stare at us. It was so rude. I was genuinely excited to bring in a huge group of family when i graduate from training later this month. But i can honestly say i wont be back. read more

I moved out of state a few years ago, and when I am back in the Libertyville area, Austin's is always at the top of my list of my schedule permits. They offer plenty of seating (inside and outside to fit your preference), and a vast menu. While a large menu is risky, from my personal experience they do everything well. They are know for their fajitas and burgers (among other things), and on this visit my wife was up for breakfast (which they offer certain days), and I chose the Pig Out (BBQ) sandwich which had amazing flavor. I recently visited to Austin's for lunch and was genuinely impressed! Not only do they have a huge covered patio but also spacious interior seating areas. We had a rather large group and they were easily able to accommodate us. The restaurant itself plays into the western vibe but in a tasteful way. Parking can be a bit difficult but be sure to go around back for more spots. Their menu offered a wide variety of items which made picking one item hard! Portions are large so expect leftovers. The food presentations were amazing! While I only got a caesar salad (YUM), others got the tacos, sliders, and bowls which came out looking and tasting great. Our server was warm and kind throughout taking care of our group. She did give us a bit too long of gaps for beverage/food orders, but I completely understand letting us all catch up. I am incensed right now. I can't tell you about the food because we were never able to order! Had a 6:30 reservation, got seated at 7:08. Nobody came to our table. We left at 7:28 for the show in the Fuel Room. There was a lot of patting on the back from people coming in and seemingly getting seated right away. I was looking forward to spending my birthday lunch at Austin's and things were going well until my fiance and I were matched with a terrible server named KCB. The server was incredibly slow and inattentive; and to top it off, the server stated I could have any desert I liked since it was my birthday. Unfortunately, the server lied and charged us for the desert. I made a complaint to the assistant manager and he nonchalantly brushed me off and stated he would take care of it. This place is a really great lunch spot on the weekend. Been here a few times and have enjoyed it. We always start with the buffalo wings and they are usually crispy and juicy - just how we like them with a good homemade ranch on the side. This last time we tried the Caesar salad with garlic shrimp and it has great flavor. The salad wasn't as crispy as we'd like but it was fine. We also got the chicken fajita wrap - which is really more like a chicken burrito but it was very good and the wrap was the perfect texture- nice and soft. We came in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Although the parking lot was full, there was no wait to be seated. The server came over right away and took our order. The salads came out within five minutes and for a house salad was pretty loaded. The appetizer in the entrées came out pretty much at the same time. I ordered online for carry out , I had the Northwoods fish fry which has Cod and Walleye. 3 pieces of each. It was ready when I got there. The carry out service is very efficient. They have a carry out lane in front so it makes it very convenient to park, run in and pick up my order and go. This was on a crowded Friday night and they did an excellent job of running things. Austin's is again a solid place to go - this time we joined the Easter brunch (just before the fire you may have read about, luckily no one seriously hurt!) Theo Easter brunch offered a carving station with ham (great!!) and brisket (so so), buffet of shrimps, a smoked fish (mackerel I think, VERY good!), also tons of other things (biscuit &gravy, French toast, bacon etc). Also they had pizza and mac&cheese, a great Greek salad. No bread unfortunately, but also an omelette made to order and pancakes also freshly made. Came here for dinner. Loved the vibe. Food was delicious and service was excellent. My sandwich was steaming hot when it arrived at my table. I took my first bite and literally said out loud to myself "oh, that's good." The bun was so soft and melted in my mouth. The chicken patty was delicious. Onion loops were crisp and had great flavor. I enjoyed the house salad. Most house salads are lettuce and one tomato. This had a nice variety of ingredients. My margarita was also delicious. I am so impressed with Austin's treatment of their guests. We visit Austin's fairly regularly. We love the food, the large menu, and our servers have always been wonderful. On our most recent visit, my husband made a math error when finalizing our check. He put in correctly the amount of tip we wanted to leave, but when he added it to the pre-tax amount he accidentally wrote in a total that was $10 over what the correct total should have been. The restaurant would certainly have been within their rights to use the total on the final charge to our card. However, they did not. They put in the amount that should have been the total - $10 less than the total my husband wrote down. Amazing! Kudos to them for their honesty and ethics! read more

We ate at Austin's for years and had a horrible experience about three years ago and only recently returned. I first want to complement Korey our waiter. He was outstanding. He really cared that we had a positive experience and we did. Just wonderful. We stopped to tell the manager about Korey's outstanding service. He was so appreciative and he too complemented Korey. We met a group of family here for a Navy boot camp graduation. We had 6 at the table. When we were done, we were informed that they didn't split the bill for 6 people. My wife and I didn't have any drinks so we were the least expensive of the group. Since we rarely use cash, so we had to scrounge for cash to pay one of the group to cover the bill with his credit card. What a bad way to end what was a nice family gathering. Shuffling cash around like a bunch of gamblers. This place is a no go in the future. We have never been in a place that couldn't split the bill. This is epic bad customer service. I also think in the process that the server got shorted on his tip. In addition, it was so loud that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. Our party feels like our table was neglected as we see her, our server, attending to the other tables (3 other). Our drinks aren't refilled. She seems overwhelmed and she should've asked for help. 20:00 Still no food. The other tables that are 5+ per table are done. It's just us left. Don't clean up other table when you still have to attend to us. Food arrived shortly after, my stepson's skirt steak came out first (celebrating him and his fiancé after bridal shower that day), and after 23mins everyone's food came. So I posted the review while we were waiting and the owner or someone higher up saw my review and told the waitress. She asked around for me and found me. She proceed to "guilt trip" me about my review- told me about her boss being mad at her, and about why she needs the job. First, I really hope she doesn't get fired because this is not just on her but a reflection of your establishment. Second, you know your employee is drowning and you let her drown, shame on you. Third, you knew there was a big party that you accepted and should've assigned a backup with her. She was set to fail. After we were done, bill came and we paid. As we were leaving, our party heard the server yelling at another server about our tip . Service=tip, that's how's it's always been and that's how it will always be. It is based on the service we received. And the fact that you had to talk to me about my review, about how I should've talked to you first (we tried flagging you multiple times, MAYBE if we/I could find and talk to you then maybe, but you were nowhere to be found or get a hold of). So I definitely wanted to come out and support this family owned business. I am so glad I did!! It was clear from the greeting the woman in front of me was a regular and beloved customer.
