I have a friend that loves this place, and wanted to get some food with me. I didn't really want to go because it's really expensive and it gets pretty loud in the restaurant, but I let my friend convince me. I ordered wings and beer-battered fries. The wings came out with no fries. I gently explained this to my server, who went to go put the order in but not briefly stating they might take a while. Time passed. I ate a few of my wings, but I had intended to take some home for later because they keep well. I really wanted to enjoy my fries, while hot, while conversing with my friends. No fries were brought to our table until BOTH of my friends had finished their ENTIRE meals. My friend joked that when the fries got to me, they'd probably be the wrong ones. I should've knocked on wood, because that's exactly what happened. The server came out with fries, and started trying to explain why I had to wait so long, despite the fact that I ordered my fries with my wings when I first placed the order - they weren't simply being added on, they were MISSING from the original order. In other words, I was waiting longer for the fries because of the server's mistake, and no accountability was demonstrated. And lo and behold... the fries that came out were not the beer-battered ones I ordered, so I had to gently interrupt the server's explanation to point out that she'd brought me the wrong fries. After this, I simply told the server to just forget the fries, because my friends were already done eating and I wasn't going to make them wait *again* and then sit there and watch me eat whenever the fries finally came out. The server took a really long time to bring us our check. When she did, we were still being charged for the fries that I never received. So, my friend, realizing I was getting frustrated, calmly and assertively told the server to take the fries off the bill, since we didn't get them. She nodded her head and headed off... but didn't take my friend's card with her. So, we had to wait *even longer* for her to come back and settle the bill. Further, I wanted to keep my ranch cups to enjoy my wings with later, but the server took my sauce cups before I could ask for a little lid for them, and I had to ask for a new sauce cup. After all these pauses and waits, we were FINALLY able to pay the bill and leave. The wings here are decent, but overpriced. The fries are good, when the servers actually bring them out to you as ordered. And apparently, according to that server, rushing out food that was done wrong or that was missing from an order isn't how things work here - you have to wait for everyone else's order to go first even if not getting what you ordered was the server's mistake, not yours. That strikes me as a pretty major issue with the way the place operates. Talk about inflexible? The food here is normally good, but out of my comfortable price range because I don't live on very much money - I'd say most of my experiences here have been 3/5s, maybe a 4/5 or two along the way when others are paying for me, but I've never felt this place was ever truly worth the money. But given that the food was mid, the waits were absurd, and the server seemed to be checked out, new and/or improperly trained, or maybe just on autopilot, I can officially say this experience has given me all the reason I need to never come here again. read more

Stopped in here at the recommendation of my hotel and was not disappointed. The bartender was super friendly and we had a really nice chat. I ordered the spicy bluejack burger and it was perfect. Maybe a little overcooked but the taste was exactly what I was craving. I wished that I could take it home on the airplane so my husband could taste it lol. I upgraded the side so that I could sample the cheese curds and they were like perfectly fried fluffy pillows of cheese. I don't know what they put in that batter to make it crunch like that but it was definitely worth the upcharge. Topped it all off with a traditional Wisconsin spotted cow. This place was great! It was fairly close to my hotel which was a plus. I walked in and the bartender was awesome. I asked about a couple of the beers and she gave me samples while advising me based on her experiences (i.e. "this sour is really more sweet than sour, so if you're looking for that sour taste, it might not be this beer"). I really appreciate when people do that, as it can help with the choices. She gave me a pour so I could try it myself and she was 100% right. I ordered their spicy curd burger medium and the burger was great. The fries taste handcut and they have pepper and salt grinders. The prices were very good. Food was amazing! You have to try the cheese curds. Get any kind you prefer, they all taste amazing!!! The place takes no more than 30-45 minutes to get your food out. To some that may seem like a while, but it didn't bother me. The draft root beer was worth it. The boneless wings were average. I could see where if you time it wrong this place could be very loud. Been here a few times with family. When they fly home they like this place because of the Wisconsin based menu and drinks. I like to order the huge bloody but always found it hard to eat my food because the actual bloody is not the best. So now I order a smaller one and pay extra for a burger. The beer menu is pretty great too. The burgers and food is usually good. When the order is taken and comes out correctly, the meal is enjoyable. The service is struggling. We typically come in a group of 5 or more. Seems like groups get lost in the kitchen. Good comes out at a different t pace and some people are done eating before others come out. We were visiting from out of town and we were happy to find this place nearby our hotel. We were able to walk in and get a table right away. We started with a cheese curd sampler - which was highly recommended by the staff. We loved the flavors but a few of them were a bit too large and caused them to trap a bit more grease than I would've liked. But the little ones were AMAZING! I got an IPA that was on draft & happened to support the pink boot society. I love a good beer with an even better mission! My husband had the Long Island iced tea since it was on special called the Bernie and said it was great. The burgers are HUGE and wonderful! We are not from this area & this place was recommended for good burgers. When we arrived we could tell the were busy & a little understaffed. We were not given menus when they Saturday us. The waitress finally came & threw out coasters after a bit, we quickly told her our drinks & an appetizer. One of my guys got up to get menus. It took awhile to have our order taken & then a very long time to get our appetizer...we saw one of the other servers bring it out & ask 2 tables if it was theirs (not us though even though we were seated right in front of her) finally after 10 more minutes it came out. The manager came out & apologized to the table beside but when he brought our food he said nothing. The waitress had a lot of tables & I was patient with her but the manager should have at least acknowledged & said something to us. We were there long enough for the place to clear out. The whole lunch took almost 2 hours & we were on a lunch break so took an extra hour out of day. The burgers were good but not that good. Always great food, very consistent. Known for burgers obviously, and curds; but the other menu items have all been enjoyable. I try to get something different every time. Love the beer flights and selections. The tap takeovers are fun, and love the promo events they do in house periodically. Usually sit at the bar and the staff always remembers me, and are friendly/enthusiastic about beer, which is nice for a snob/nerd like me. I'm officially done with this place for a minimum of a year. The last 3 visits have been just awful. Some of the worst customer service and food I've had in years. Their customer service is nonexistent because they are always understaffed. I guess if management and owners would always understaff the business I worked at, I would be in a p!ssy mood too. My final tipping point was this Saturday. We were out after Octoberfest looking for food for my fiances birthday celebration. Over 15 people swarming the door because they don't allow you to sit at the tables around the bar. A 30 min.+ wait, fine whatever. Except we stood at the bar for an extensive period of that 30 min.+ with zero acknowledgement. I get it, if you are busy then at least acknowledge people so they don't feel like they don't exist. So one of my friends got p!ssed and walked to the other side of the bar since they seemed to be getting served over there, mind you the rest of us were quiet, and the shade we got thrown from the staff at the bar and the servers after that was like I was in highschool. My friend asked for a manager at which point we then had our orders taken for drinks. The manager also escorted us to our table (which is the last we saw of her). When we were seated it took 20 min. to get waters, which they only brought for half the table when all of us asked for waters, at this point our order is taken. Another 15 min. to get our cheese curd appetizer. And then our meal showed up 15 min. after the appetizer, at which time my fiance asked for another beer. 21 min. later (I timed it on my phone) our waiter shows up with the beer, my fiance says he doesn't want it since he is done eating, as are the rest of us (at this point we have been here for over the 2 hour mark and just want to go home). The waiter looks like he isnt' phased, takes the beer and half of our plates back. Comes back with the checks and to take the other half of the plates which at this point I tell him, that my sandwich was inedible and was disgusting. He says "well if you would have told me sooner we could have done something about it". FIRST. You took 21 minutes to bring us a beer, not even to check on us. SECOND. If he would have looked at my basket of food he would have noticed I ate maybe 4 bites of the whole thing. THIRD. I didn't dare go up to the bar and ask for a server because guess what, we went up there for our waters after 15 min. of waiting and got told "your server is aware your table needs water". During all this chaos I was watching around the room, so many dirty tables unbussed would have solved the overflow of people at the door. The disorganization of this establishment is appalling. Packer games are the same level of dysfunction we witnessed on Saturday. We have been regulars at this place during our 2 years living here in Appleton since it is close to home, but no more. We will go to SAP for cheese curds and bloodys and phenomenal customer service. And if we need bar food? Well, there are about 50 other establishments in the area serving burgers, wings and cheese curds. Good luck MBC, as previous fans and loyalty reward members, we wish you the best. read more

Service was good! Only good thing I can say about the place. The seat cushions were torn which should have been my first indication. I ordered a flavorful drink which ended up tasting like cough syrup, which I thought might have just been my taste buds (though never happened to me before). Then I ordered wings.... You can't get wings wrong, right? Wrong! The wings were so caked in thick hard breading that they were tough to eat. Once you did, the chicken was dry. The sauces were watered down and flavorless as was the ranch dressing!!! The ranch had less flavor and more watery than the fat free stuff from the grocery store!! No way they didn't water it down! Was kind of let down after reading reviews and the menu... I got that Bacon Cheddar Crunch MBC grind burger.. It was really really underwhelming... Maybe I got the wrong burger? Because it tasted like a plain old burger.. They also forgot the bacon so that kind of killed the burger for me... I got the blue cheese potato salad which was only about 3 tablespoons total.. Yes that is the whole side lol... We shared some of the cheese curds which were OK I guess but I'm not a big cheese curd guy...I got a burger from Cinders earlier in the week and that burger was way better than this one. read more
