    New York Strip Steak*
    Courtney G.

Milwaukee Chophouse is an elegant steakhouse on the first floor of the Hilton in the heart of downtown. They offer a wide selection of wine, nice cuts of steak, and fresh seafood. The evening I attended, a lot was ordered because it was a business dinner, and the table shared various dishes. To kick off the night, we ordered a handful of appetizers. I personally only tried the fried calamari, which was delicious and tender. It sits on a spread of a lemon butter sauce with a sprinkle of cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, and capers. Since steakhouses usually offer a type of bisque, I decided to try their seafood bisque. It has a creamy tomato base with some jumbo lump crab meat and is topped with a crostini. The flavor of the bisque was a tad bland. I finished the dish, but I would pass next time. They did have a poblano and corn chowder, which a few at the table enjoyed, and I would order it next time if it is offered. Now to the star of the meal--the meat. I decided on a medium New York Strip Steak. I added brandy peppercorn sauce as an accompaniment, which was also tasty. Since a steak needs a buddy, I had to add a Broiled South African lobster tail. You can't go wrong with a nice piece of lobster drowned in butter. For sides, we also ordered an array of items. From veggies to carbs, we had it all. I enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese with large chunks of lobster throughout. It was out together with white cheddar, buttered breadcrumbs and parmesan. I also tasted the mashed potatoes, a mash of garlic purée, cream, and butter. Want a fabulous bite? Put together the steak, the brandy peppercorn sauce, and a swipe of the potatoes. Yum. To end the night, we were treated to a selection of desserts. I don't have a sweet tooth, but I will lean toward sorbet if they have it. They had a pairing of strawberry and blood orange. I tasted the strawberry and enjoyed it. Overall, the night went well, and we all enjoyed our meals and our fabulous waitress.

The Rosemary chicken plate is my favorite! You have to get it with the mashed potatoes, lobster mac and asparagus! Even the prime ribeye steak was good! We had a lovely waitress help us last night and overall made it a great night out.

It was our date night and we did eat early around 5. Our service was subpar due to the server being slow and lacked follow up like how is everything. For a "nicer" steak place we were sad to have an over cooked steak but since no one asked we couldnt have what we wanted. If you are in the hotel it's maybe worth visiting but don't go out of your way to eat here.

This was my first time here so I wasn't too sure what to expect. As soon as I came in the host sat us at a booth. We were handed 3 different menus: food, wine, & alcohol. I kind of wish they had normal drinks like as fountain drinks or maybe a lemonde, but most of their beverages are alcoholic- though they did have mocktails & sparkling water. The vibe inside had an almost luxurious feel to it, yet still maintained a casual environment. To start, I had the jumbo shrimp cocktail & the fried calamari. In my opinion those dishes do better with not a lot of seasoning, but somehow both starters had me tasting flavors I've never tasted before. It was very seasoned & kind of reminded me of almost a grassy taste.. not for me, but I'm sure most people like that. The shrimp was good & also had the same type of grassy flavor. I did expect there to be more than 5 pieces of shrimp for $20 though. On to the entrees, they had a really nice selection to choose from & I wish I had picked something different as my braised short-rib was sub-par. It was basically just one piece of short-rib that was slow cooked which they then threw a bunch of grass & roots on top. The meat was super tender as expected, but it just wasn't anything special. My date had gotten the lambchops & although they were great, it was only the lambchops.. not even some veggies or I don't know.. something?? Just meat on a plate & you order the sides seperately. I will say the mashed potatoes were excellent & was definitely large enough to be split between maybe 2-3 people. Overall the experience went well & our server was attentive, but the food just wasn't exactly for me.

Marshall was awesome!! He explained the menu and was really sweet! I loved how dim it was and the table decorations. My steak was 10/10! I would definitely go back I really enjoyed my dinner here.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed some shrimp and cocktails. The shrimp was yum. The cocktails were great. The service was absolutely outstanding. Really fabulous bartender! He was thoughtful, friendly, and enjoyable. The ambiance and vibe is typical steakhouse. A dark and elegant feel. But you don't necessarily need to get dressed up or anything. This spot is located inside the hotel and downstairs. A great place to grab a bite, have a few drinks, and enjoy some good conversation.

My partner and I had date night. First time at this restaurant and the service was excellent. It may have been one of my best experiences. We were checked on constantly. Our water never went empty. Our server was sweet and made sure our needs were being made. The food was delicious! The presentation was everything. I definitely recommend booking a reservation here! You won't be disappointed

St. Paul Fish Market is located inside the very busy and popular Milwaukee Public Market indoor shopping complex downtown. It reminds me of the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle. The only parking option that I am aware of is metered street parking. The building has 2 levels but the 1st floor is where most of the business are. It appeared to me that St. Paul's is the most popular business there. It is a seafood restaurant and fresh fish market. They have a small sit down area for table service dining or you can order your food to go at the counter. After being seated and reviewing the menu I decided to order the same meal I had over 11 years ago. I went with a bowl of clam chowder for $8 to start and then added a fried grouper sandwich ($16) with french fries for another $2.50. The chowder was perfect. Flavorful, delicious and I wanted more (5). The sandwich also was delicious and satisfying made with quality fish, lettuce, tomato, and bread. However while it tasted very good halfway through eating it the bread bun started to disintegrate and then quickly turned to mush before I could finish. Then I needed a fork to finish it. It got messy and I don't like that in a sandwich. It's only for that reason I give an overall 4 score instead of a 5. The french fries were very good tasting too but I had ordered too much food and only had room for a few of them. The table service was very warm and friendly. I believe St. Paul's is a very good choice for a casual seafood meal but please buy more sturdy buns!

It was on the heavier side, but the noodles that they paired with it, was absolutely amazing. The Branzino was nicely grilled, but wasn't dry on the inside. From the happy hour menu, I also ordered the Halibut Fish Fry and the Shrimp Cocktail. The Shrimp Cocktail had a sweet and chili cocktail vinaigrette, which I really enjoyed. From the dinner menu, I had the Kale Cashew Caesar, Lobster Pot Pie, and the Ora King Salmon. To my surprise, the star of the show was the Kale Cashew Caesar, which staff recommended. The Lobster Pot Pie is offered at market price ($55 when I went). They give you generous chunks of butter-poached lobster tails, seasonal vegetables, lobster cream in their truffle puff pastry. The Ora Kin Salmon was also delicious. Salmon was cooked perfectly--light and moist. I enjoyed the black garlic gnocchi and the apple gastrique that came with this dish. Barnacle Bud's had a cool decor vibe and moody lighting. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and you could tell she was very excited about the menu and the pop-up experience. She provided exceptional customer service- she went over the menu thoroughly, came back to check on us multiple times, and always refilled our water, which I always appreciate! To start, we ordered wine and the relish tray. Everything on the relish tray was a little too vinegary for me but most of the table enjoyed it. However, the four of us didn't finish it. The colors, the well-placed low lighting, the appropriate volume of cajun music ... all done in excellent taste. The waitstaff is INCREDIBLE. They all seem to be having a great time, when it's slow, and when it's busy, which is important to see; plus, they help each other out. Waiters, bartenders, bussers, hosts, food-runners - they're often smiling and helpful to anyone. Not only did our waiter Scotty take amazing care of us (a group of 10 on a Saturday night, all arriving at different times; and he had many other tables besides us), but his teammates helped bring drinks, clear the table, and our deliver our food. Everything was timely, fresh, and as far as I know, no errors were made with drinks or food. We were all quite satisfied with our meal. The reason I give 3 stars is, for some reason I do not understand, near the end of our meal, we heard a man yelling quite loudly from the kitchen area AT OUR SERVER. The man (manager I assume) was insisting that Scotty was not attentive to us (and I can't discern a single reason why this would be claimed). Even if he noticed something we didn't -- it could have been a moment of quiet criticism, but this dude turned it into a screaming fit. And he could not have been more wrong. In fact overhearing this exchange (right around the corner, within full earshot of us and the back half of the restaurant) was the ONLY thing that soured our otherwise amazing experience. We then watched who I assume was the same guy (red-faced and angry) sit down at a table very close to us, and our server return a moment later somewhat shaken up. It was awful. We made sure to congratulate him loudly on his impeccable service after that. I don't know if the manager heard or not. But one can hope. This was not my first time here, but it was the first time I've experienced anything like this. Like I said, the team seems solid, our service is always timely and kind (and often, incredibly FUN) even when they're PACKED, the food is bangin', the oysters are fresh and delicious, and EVERYTHING is well priced & spiced! So we will be back. But we really hated seeing our waiter treated like that. For anyone who doesn't know - waiters in WI currently make $2.33/hour. This is below the federal wage rate of $7.25/hour for the same job. They survive off your tips. If they're good, they're great, and GOD BLESS THEM - they must do what they do because they love people. This manager did not seem to appreciate what he had right in front of him. But we did!!!! My husband decided on the jambalaya, I went with the crawfish étouffée, and we split the roasted Cajun cauliflower as an appetizer. While it's hard for this kind of stew-like, saucy, veggie/sausage/seafood over rice mixtures to present beautifully, everything looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. The jambalaya had a little more of a kick than I prefer, but my husband loved it and my crawfish étouffée had the perfect amount of spice without being spicy. The roasted cauliflower was cooked to perfection and was the perfect way to start the meal. Not pictured is the bananas foster bread pudding that was the perfect way to end it.
