We were in town apartment hunting for a grad student. Saw Mo's while walking around and booked a reservation online. So glad we did. Experience was top quality along with the ambiance. The wait staff was so personable. Often management and even the owner stopped by to introduce themselves and check in on us. I personally had the 8oz filet and scallops wrapped. Was tops. The ambiance has an old school dark sort of vibe so well preserved. Anyways highly recommend.

The prices reflect not only the food but the service and ambiance as well. Every need is attended to. I could hold a quiet conversation with the person I'm eating with. The lobster bisque was served as a bowl with the bits of lobster in it, with the actual soup then poured tableside. Martini? Shaken and poured at the table. Delicious food.

If you take anything from this review, let it be this.... ORDER THE BRUSSELS SPROUTS!! I apologize for yelling, but it needs to be known. We went to Mo's A Place For Steaks for David's birthday and it was a perfect special event spot! Everything we got was delicious and so well flavored. It's up there for our favorite steak place in the city! Next time I would get the lobster Mac instead of the Pepper Jack, but that's just personal preference. The most outstanding part about this place is their staff. It's truly insane how kind and attentive everyone working was! They didn't know it was David's birthday but they just brought us a complimentary cheesecake at the end. It made our whole night! Truly can't recommend this place more! Sorry the photos suck, I'll just blame the lighting.

This was our second time here and it was absolutely outstanding. The steaks are amazing and we also had the creamed corn and white cheddar mashed potatoes as sides which were equally delicious. Excellent service, can't wait to go back.

When ever you are in Milwaukee MO's is a place you stop. They have the best Steaks. It's a little pricey but you only live once. There's a great piano player name Joe who was absolutely fantastic. I had the 8oz Ribeye butterfly cut and it was fantastic.

We loved the live piano playing in the background. Service was phenomenal. We had Adrian and Ashley as our servers we ordered Wagyu fillets. We split the double baked potato and for dessert we loved the cookie with ice cream. The old fashioned and French martinis were tasty too

We made a reservation for the lounge space which to our fun surprise had live piano music playing. My friend ordered a cosmo and I ordered a copilot sticking to my choice of gin cocktails for that evening. While her cosmo look pretty it was incredibly strong and did not taste good. This was her first cosmo but I've had a few cosmos over the years and while yes it's a martini full of just booze it shouldn't taste that way. Likewise my cocktail not featured in photos was also not good. It was also served in a pint glass which didn't seem right for a cocktail. Maybe I didn't like the gin used, not sure but I have yet to order a gin cocktail that I don't like. Our waitress was understanding of our comments as each drink had 2-3 small sips. We didn't ask for new cocktails to replace since we weren't sure what those would be like. Giving three stars still because our waitress was nice and understanding and the cookie we ordered for dessert really was a 10/10 nice and warm with chocolate drizzle and just the right amount of ice cream!

Over priced for what we ordered. Our steak was over cooked; we ordered medium rare. It was conveniently located for the Riverside Theater.

Slight challenge noted in #3 1. The Vibe & decor was Nostalgic 1980s Wisconsin supper club vibe with Christmas lights, mirrored walls, and a small vintage bar. Being seated at the bar first was a treat because I got to see all the quality drink ingredients and had a front row to the live music. 2. The Drinks Excellent, high-quality cocktails with house made mixers instead of bottled stuff. The Hennessy Sidecar and Tiramisu Martini were both amazing! 3. The Food My husband ordered a Ribeye & Fries. He said it was the perfect medium, delicious, and had a good crust. His steak fries were piping hot and good! We shared them. I opted to get two appetizers instead of an entree which meant no salad unless I wanted to pay an up charge. I decided on the crab mac & cheese. It was flavorful and creamy. It had real crab meat folded directly into the cheese sauce instead of lump crab thrown on top like other Steakhouses Crab Cakes-Hate to say it but I was very disappointed. They were full of flour filler, there was not a lump of crab to find. I would be surprised if they're even made in house. Looked nothing the image that led to me ordering them. They had so much flour in them that they stuck to the roof of my mouth. Reminded me of Pick N Save's 5/$5 crab cakes from their meat department. 4.Service & Hospitality was top tier. The waitress was kind and attentive. She noticed the crab cakes were barely touched & when I expressed dissatisfaction with them she had them removed from our bill without any hesitation or pushback. Despite the crab cake challenge, the incredible drinks, great steak, nostalgic atmosphere, and stellar service made for a wonderful night out. So, to answer your question... Yes, we will absolutely be back!

On a recent visit, I had the steak tartar and bone marrow appetizers. Both were delicious, but the bone marrow was a standout. Ultra rich beef butter is what that is. For my steak, I went with the Australian Wagyu filet. It was not as rich as a Japanese A5, and more tender than an American Wagyu. Right in the sweet spot between those two. I probably did not need to use my knife. Delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, but not so much so that you felt bothered. This was a work dinner, otherwise I absolutely would have sent my meal back. The steaks were overwhelmingly salty--so much so that it completely overshadowed the quality of the meat. Even more frustrating, every steak at our table came out rare, regardless of how it was ordered. The asparagus was overcooked, the ramp chowder was just okay, and the dessert honestly tasted like something picked up from Sam's Club rather than made in-house. The drinks were very good, and the service was attentive and professional, which is the reason I gave this place 3 stars. For the reputation and price point, I expected much better. There are MUCH better options in Milwaukee, go elsewhere.

Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.
