This has to be the worst braiding shop ever! I needed a quick braided style for an event and I found this place advertised on her website that they have 24hour service Thursday-Sun, turns out they are not. To me that is false advertising. I was in regular communication with the braider, let her know I was a little late, when I was in line at the beauty supply store and that I would be there in less than 5 minutes. As I am pulling into the parking lot I get a text message saying that she has to go. I text her right back telling her I was there and walking to to the door. No response. I walk in and the owner said she waited all day for you! Which was not true. I asked if she could contact the woman and she said she's gone. There was no offer to call another braided or anything to help me. After a couple of minutes I walked out to my call and the chick who was supposed to do my hair had been sitting in the car next to me the whole effing time! I then recalled how this shop was so familiar to me and that's when it hit me! I had been here in the past (10+ years) and received similar crappy customer service. The owner is borderline rude, blasé, unprofessional and has no semblance of what customer service is. My guess is that she has only been able to stay open this long because of her location, her friends and family and what regulars she has on top of collecting booth rent from other braiders. read more

A couple of days later, when I went in order to get my braids, she noticed that my edges were under tension. She did a special braid pattern to protect them. My braids were beautiful, economical, and lasted a while. That was years ago. I tried them again a month or so back. This time I walked in to make an appointment. I discussed the braids I wanted with the owner, Mimi. A few days before, I texted her with the picture and questions re the amount of hair I needed. She never responded. Where do I start? 1st of all I know I got on Mimis nerves because I did do a lot of texting. I needed my hair done quickly and by a certain time and a difficult situation because I have no edges and I mean none. Mimi always wrote back and never seemed agitated by my constant texting. She recommended Tonja. Tonja was honest and said it would take a bit longer than I needed to be finished, she also fit me into her schedule to accommodate me. Tonja did the unexpected with my braids. Just a little dissapointed for $150. I definently want to be able to wear my hair in a ponytail/bun. But before I can do that I need to go back to the hair store, get a crochet needle and fill in thses huge gaps. AND figure out why there is just loose braiding hair sticking out the back of my head. I walked in today for the first time to just check it out - my girls wanted braids for picture day. The salon was very clean and met Chris - she was very professional and had a great personality with my 10 year old and 8 year old - she was willing to accept a walk in - she was fast and efficient - superb with my girls who are tender headed - braids were beautiful , neat and looked very natural not too tight ! I came in today to get knotless braids and they turned out phenomenal! I was scheduled with Queda today (i hope i'm spelling your name right!) and now she has a client for life! She was personable, worked quickly and efficiently and it was the most gentle braiding session I've ever had! I don't have a headache and i'm inlove with the results! She only accepts cash (so bring cash ahead of time) & the knotless braids of my size were $200 and it was worth every penny! I was researching braid shops in Long Beach and came across this gem! Since I'm 9 months pregnant, I didn't feel like sitting in the chair for 8 hours, so I requested small individuals at the top with a weave in the back. Surprisingly, a lot of other stylists I called at other places were confused by the style and said they couldn't braid with human hair. Fortunately, I found Dede! She was very professional and even followed up with me to confirm my appointment a couple of days in advance.She was able to work her magic with my human hair. I got the wrong length for the top, but thankfully Dede manipulated the hair in a way where it blended in perfectly. The braids were very neat at the top and not too tight at all. She completed my hairstyle in about 3 1/2 hours which was great! The pricing was very reasonable as well. I absolutely love my hair and will definitely be back! read more

I decided to wear braids since spring break is in another week, and my brithday. I opted out going to any braider who braids from home. Didn't want to hear personal conversations, waiting for them to cook dinner, and/or screaming at their kids! Use to pass this place for years. After reading a few reviews, I made my appointment on a Thursday to have it done that Saturday afternoon. I was quoted $150 for individuals the size of a No. #2 pencil ...estimated time 2hours, and $10 for a wash. Since I was coming from work, I did not mind paying $10 to wash my hair. Environment: Not your typical hair shop atmosphere with various hot gossip polluting the air. Its really relaxing with the TV on and the small talk between clientele and stylist. My stylist Porche (please excuse if I misspelled) and myself were jamming with music in our ears. Stylist: Porche was very attentive to my request/needs. She's friendly and professional. Outcome: It took a little longer than 2 hours but she still got the job done fairly quickly. I'm happy with the outcome but I wish I could have requested for her to completely braid to the ends alittle more. I don't care for so much hair at the ends. I will DEFINITELY be back! Murphy was my stylist and did a wonderful job! She gave me cornrows on both sides of my hair to hold back short hair I am growing out. She was on time, reasonably priced, and very sweet. I decided to treat my mom and get her hair twisted by Mimi, on day four the back of twist fell out, by week one not only did her twist come out, it begin to look very old. My mom called Mimi when she came back from her trip on day four of having her hair done, Mimi stated she did not work Sunday or Monday and that she'll work something out with my mom when she returns back to her shoppe. My mother never heard from her and decided not to go back to Long Beach because she did not want to be charged again. unfortunately it had been three weeks and she had to take her hair out. I'm so disappointed that her hair came out on day four and it only went down hill from there. To pay 190 dollars for her hair to look like it was done by someone still learning to twist is unacceptable. I do not recommend getting twist done by Mimi at all. Thank you for responding Mimi, when my mom arrived an hour late she appreciated that you were kind enough to keep her hair appointment since she was coming from Irvine. I helped her call braiding salons in the OC and LBC and I asked specifically how much does it cost for bra length/waist twists, my mom NEVER EVER wore he hair/ braids short she loves long hair, so there's no way she would request to have short twist. Regardless of the length I was surprised her hair came out in the back on day four. I noticed personally her hair began to look worse everyday. I'm glade you can admit her hair looked bad. She did tried her best to maintain her loose twist but unfortunately since the twist was done so poorly it just didn't stand the test of time. I cannot speak for your other customer but for this specific customer the twist looked tacky. I decided to give you two stars because she did say that you're a nice woman. Excellent service. I called the day prior to schedule an appointment for my daughters hair to be braided. She is has a very sensitive tender head when it comes to braiding so I was a bit nervous. I scheduled an appointment for my daughter to get twist done through styleseat, not knowing my daughter had to go to work, I texted and asked if she could arrive early. I was told yes, she could show up at 9:30am. I said perfect! I got a text this morning for the stylist telling me that she's going to be 10 minutes late, I responded and said no problem, my daughter just wants large twist, just as long as she's out by 2:30, 3 pm we're good. I'm at work, and the stylist calls upset saying, "she's not a robot, she got kids, and doesn't work under pressure", I told her it wasn't a problem, my daughter would be able to show up a little late to work, we get off the phone, I thought everything was fine....few minutes later, I get a refund of my money. I texted the stylist, no response, I called her back, and was told, she doesn't work under pressure and that MY DAUGHTER WAS LATE! I was like, umm ok(but you texted me to tell me you were going to be late). So, I was very upset because at the end of the day this person was very unprofessional. If you woke up late, or the kids had you running late, you should have just said you didn't want to do it instead of wasting my time. Plus you still owe me one dollar. read more
