The BEST microbraider I have found on this coast, hands down! Okay "story time" lol: I'm from the south (moved here to SoCal for work) & I have found that what we consider microbraiding is not the same here! So I have literally searched from LA to Costa Mesa to San Diego to find someone to at least come close to duplicating the style & yeah noone came close. Then, I stumbled across Safia :) here on Yelp! Read a couple of her reviews peeped out her photos and booked an appointment! Best decision ever! Braids and edges have stayed in tack for 2 months; not one braid fell out! When I arrived she was friendly and the time just flew by. Buyer beware!!! Save your money and time!!! DO NOT book this stylist‼She was not only almost 30 mins late to the appointment, charged me $250 for a child knotless braid and was unable to complete the hairstyle. She cut the hair while braiding and then had no hot water to seal the ends. The braids were unraveling by the time we got home. I asked Safi if she would be willing to discount the style since she was unable to complete and the braids would unravel and was told NO. She told me to go home and seal the ends myself...AFTER PAYING 250!!! We had traveled to San Jose and were staying in a hotel, hence the need for someone else to do my child's hair. I had no access to boiled water and at this price should not have to complete the style! It took her 7 hours to do a poor job. Our whole day was wasted and I have to get my daughter's hair rebraided. Not only that but after I sent a Zelle to pay for this horrid hairstyle, Safi came and stood in front of my car because her internet had not caught up to show the funds were paid. She is very unprofessional, not a skilled braider and she does not have the proper tools to do her job. Needless to say, we will NEVER BOOK SAFI AGAIN!!! read more

My sister brought my niece in from out of town, Dallas to be exact, and she wanted her to get knotless. All was well until the end when Safi or whatever her name is didn't have hot water to seal the ends and then she cut the braids and they statt to unravel. The lady spent a lot of time on my nieces hair and my sister was grateful and paid for the time but was very unhappy with the end result. It is customary to have hot water when doing knotless box braids. If there was no hot water then the style should not have been done. Now we have to figure out how to fix her hair. And the language barrier didn't help either read more

A couple things, 1. Safi is SO sweet!! For some reason I always get nervous before my hair gets braided but she reassured me I was in good hands and to just relax. We watched Hulu, it was great. 2. She GENUINELY cares about her clients. She wasn't texting, she wasn't eating, IF she took a phone call it was over wireless headphones. She. Never. Stops. Braiding. It's amazing! I feel like she really respects my time in the chair. 3. It felt like I was just hanging out with an old friend, we had great conversation, she offered me food and drink, I sat in a comfy chair. 4. Safi works extremely hard, she had a kind soul, and she cherished her business. I've been to a few places in LB and honestly, the work, and the experience you get here is meaningful and it's really damn good. I paid $180 for singles, mid back length! I'm so happy with my hair!! After a long search I finally found the best hair braider in LA. I recently relocated from New Jersey and I've had a difficult time searching for a professional hair braided, that provides more than exceptional work. I called about four places before I found Safi. Safi was very polite over the phone which caught my interest unlike the other places. I arrived at 8:30am and she started right away with no hesitation. Soooo, I havent had braids since I was 13yrs old, and just thought they were for me, but I really wanted to do something different with my growing, a protective Spring/Summer style, and Ive found it. Safii did this hair! Lol absolutelt beautiful, and took about 6 hrs, doesnt take breaks, listened to some bomb Nigerian music and great conversation. Very neat, very friendly, excellent experience. I've had my waist length Senegalese twists for 2 days and have gotten at least a dozen compliments. They're pretty much perfect. Safi made her home a comfy salon. I told her I was gonna visit Africa so We watched her sisters wedding video from Senegal and she told me all about Africa. Spoke to Safe an scheduled an appt Received a call days later to say I was booked at the same time as someone else and if I could come tomorrow Absolutely not as that is the reason I scheduled an appt in advance We have to do better with being courteous and professional especially for reasons within our control Needless to say I had to scatter to find another place which did an excellent job I am new to Cali and I had no referrals except reviews on the Internet I went to MiMi's braid boutique in Long Beach and Quita did my hair Beautiful twists in 2 hours price was right and service was professional and on time read more

Not taking away from Safi's ability I just want to make that clear while giving her as a professional, if you will, an honest review. Our first encounter was great she did my hair it was really nice once I tried to go back for a touch-up it was as if I was chasing her down normally as you can see on Yelp it shows the business hours I kept calling and calling and she wouldn't respond so I went by there one time everything seemed fine she said she would contact me to do my touch up 24 Hours had passed still nothing I contacted her back via text she said that she would get back to me a day later still nothing a day later I went by her place of business which happens to be her home on 52nd Avenue in Long Beach and she wasn't there as I was pulling out of her driveway as she came riding up on a bike with a major attitude, it was so out of character from what I had seen previously from her however still not professional. Yelp's site showed that she was open for business and so I stopped to check on the appointment time so I could coordinate with my work schedule. Safi told me that I shouldn't have popped up at her house (which is her place of business mind you, time was 11am). At that moment she lost a customer because her attitude was horrible so just to let you guys know if you do decide to use her not taking away from her ability but we all have schedules and we all have lives Maybe you can work with the attitudes and chase her around just to get your hair done but there's too many other people in Los Angeles who can do hair just as good and that's why I'm going to be going somewhere else. ***** I've already found someone new and it was only a matter of hours before I did that so good luck***** read more

Came in at 9 am Safi is a fast braider, the price to get my hair braided is reasonable all other shops cost more. I got regular individual braids and I'm very pleased with how neat and fast she braids. read more

I arrived on time, but there was no one at the front desk, and a few stylists assumed I was a walk-in. The stylist who was supposed to do my pixie cut was still with another client, blow-drying her sopping wet bob-length hair, and didn't acknowledge me for quite a while. When he finally did, he said he would be finished in 15 minutes. I told him if it would take longer, I would rather not wait, especially since I had driven 35 minutes from Orange County (one way). I left briefly and came back at 3:15 pm, but he was still with the same client. A professional would have communicated a delay and respected the client's time. By 3:21 pm, when I decided to leave, he was still styling her hair with no end in sight. Meanwhile, another employee attempted to divert me by offering a shampoo. She handed me a robe that was far too small and insisted I wear it, even though I explained I didn't mind hair falling on my clothes since I was going to the gym afterward. I also mentioned my long drive, and she responded with an insincere comment about how "beautiful" the 91 freeway is--something that felt dismissive and patronizing. As she led me to the shampoo area, she rolled her eyes and made faces to a coworker. At that point, I stood up, told her not to make faces, and informed the stylist I was canceling my appointment. The entire atmosphere felt unprofessional and immature--more like a schoolyard than a salon. There was no customer service, no apology, and no manager present to address the situation. I genuinely feel bad for the salon owner, who may not even be aware of how poorly NEW clients are being treated.

Safi is great! She braids my daughter all the time. She is real friendly and the best hair braider in Long Beach. I highly recommend her. A lot of hair braiders will spend the entire day talking to the other braiders in a language that I don't understand.
