You don't just get your hair done you experience life with your hairstylist. We have done some of everything together!! Experimented with different styles and colors. Tree braids, weaves, press, regular braids, and she has done my daughter as well. Sky is wonderful, a great spirit and she believes heavily in punctuality. She has NEVER been late. These 5 stars aren't really fair because Sky did an amazing job on not only my locs, but on my daughter's braids. I am extremely picky when it comes to who puts their hands in my hair. My hair journey has been filled with too many chicken heads thinking they know how to do hair. Sky knows her stuff. She cut my locs so that they again flatter my face. I was so impressed, I trusted her with my daughter's braids. She was patient with my daughter, took the time to find out what she wanted, and gave her the braids she wanted in a style that looks good. I've been going to Sky's Hair Oasis for over 5 years now and I love what she's done with my hair! During the summer, I get braids; her braids are great and last a very long time! The rest of the year, I have a weave; and it's difficult to find someone with the talent that Sky has for making a weave look natural. I found Sky's hair oasis on Google. She fit me in when a hairdresser canceled on me at the last minute. I have been coming to her ever since. for the past six months, I have consistently received compliments on my hair. What I like the most about her is that if I want my hair a particular way she may give a suggestion but she has never made me feel bad or tried to do something different than what I requested. I only get crochet right now, and I've tried three different types of crochet curly hair as you can see in the pictures. Ok sooo... I'm really not a Yelper. Sometimes I feel like people only come on here just so they can sound like experts or something, which is lame. I'm only doing this because a friend told me that Sky created a Yelp for her salon, and I was happy to publicly give her the credit that she truly, truly deserves. Now, to me, giving somebody 5 stars means that they are absolutely amazing, like perfect... And I don't no anyone that is perfect, of course. How-so-ever, I decided to give Sky's Hair Salon 5 stars... Wait, huh? That's contradictory; why did you give 5 stars? I gave 5 stars because of the most important thing that any successful business has... and that is: CONSISTENCY I have been going to her for at least 6-7 years, and never has her work been below above average. And in all those 7 years never have my locs been done sloppy or worse than the time before. And I know I'm not just saying that because every time I go to get re-twisted I always get compliment after compliment on my hair, without fail; CONSISTENTLY Sky is very punctual, and will not have you waiting a long time for the job to get done. The salon is a very friendly, warm and welcoming environment, which is one of the things that I like the most. I don't know, I guess maybe its because I'm a guy, but when I go to other salons there just always seems to be some kind of drama going on, that never ends. But nooo, not at Sky's... All these years and I haven't sensed any kind of tension or uneasiness. Even all the shops and business around the salon are all friendly to her as well. Which is proof right there. Well I don't to keep going and going, even though I could, but all-in-all Sky's Hair Oasis is definitely worth your business. All these years I have been going there and its always the same; business is always ran well. She is just consistent. So I had to do this review, because most people do reviews on places with bad service, to warn people. And thats nice, but we need to also make an effort to acknowledge businesses that do what they do well. Though my review is delayed due to sheer work busyness (no pun intended, sheers :D), Sky is an awesome stylist. I came in asking for ribbons braided into my hair (black, red, and white for LBCC pride, College Day). It was last minute and I didn't know how to describe it to her. She was extremely helpful giving me options. I have many ideas for artistic stuff (hair, crafts, etc) but am not always the best at execution. She braided my hair with the ribbons like they were hair extensions and it came out WONDERFULLY! Sky's Hair Oasis is a very nice hair salon to go to. It is very conveniently located about 5-10 minutes drive from Cal State Long Beach. The people there are very cool and down to earth. I also have never been to a hair salon where they prayed together...Guys, I would definately suggest going there if you need a good Loctician that won't stear you wrong. They are very good at what they do and many of them have a good spirit about them. After going to Sky's Hair Oasis you may not want anyone else to touch your Hair. Haha. This is definately one of the best and affordable hair salons I have been to. I love the diversity also in their group as they have black, Vietnamese, Caribbean, and other ethnic groups work there. Its not the stereotypical black hair salon that is portrayed in the media. They are very cultured individuals and have a really good work chemistry with one another. She does not stack her customers so you will only receive customized superior customer service to fit your style and personality. The pictures that you see online do not do the service she provides justice because they do not capture the complexity and texture of the finished product which you have to see in person to appreciate how extremely well coiffed you will look.
