Horrible! Paid almost $40 for a burger and soup. NEVER again! Chose to order from here, Door Dash to deliver, since they allowed custom orders. I made my order during the non-busy mid afternoon. Although it was picked up immediately and driven directly here, it arrived ice cold and completely wrong. Zero effort to address requests, greasy, the bacon strip/s were pathetic. It was inedible. The salad came with dressing I'd never eat and just sad. The French onion soup is exceptionally salty - just awful! Inedible! Not sure how this place is still open?! Assuredly I won't ever return. This was my first time at Mimi's Cafe, and everything was really good! From the food to the service. I had David as my server, who was really nice, he made sure I was taken care of and that I liked all of my food! Excellent food and service!! I walked in and was immediately greeted and sat at a table. Tracy the General Manager introduced herself and made sure my food was good and my ice tea was full. My husband loves brunch at Mimi's Cafe but we haven't been in several years so it's become a place of nostalgia for us. For Father's Day, he wanted Mimi's Cafe so we went! He had the steak and eggs and had the potato eggs benedict with a muffin. OMG the muffins! I don't know what makes them so good but they're GOOD! Haven't been to Mimi's Cafe in almost 15 years, but not much has changed. Decor is still a cute French cafe, Staff were friendly and stopped by often to check on us, and food was decent even though the prices have gone up. The cheese and bread on top of the soups could have been a bit more toasted (mine was only slightly warm), but the carrot loaf was delicious! read more

The interior gives a rustic cottage vibe. We ordered the lunch combo and enjoyed the French onion soup, jambalaya and lava cake. We opted for the additional appetizer to try the spinach artichoke dip. Everything but the artichoke dip was good, the artichoke dip was lacking in flavor. Slightly above a dennys or iHop. We wanted to try Mimi's specifically for the butter toffee cake. It's not quite Gordon Ramsay status but was still good and had the toffee flavor. Giving them review a 4 due to the service. Our server was very kind but seemed a bit over worked. We waited quite a bit for water and our order to be taken. Our server had multiple tables (8-10) and they were primarily larger groups. In the end we had to wait at the wait station to ask for Togo boxes. read more

I was in the area so I stopped by the Mimi's Cafe in Irvine When I was seated my waiter was David. He used to work in the Yorba Linda location. He is just as efficient as he was in Yorba Linda. The food was not good. The order for the breakfast chicken tenders with french fries it was super cooked was dry and couldn't eat and the rest of the order was awful. I just waste money. The avocado toast wasn't toasted just they cut avocado and tomato without toast on the top and the bread was so dry. We ordered eight people and wasn't good. Everyone wasn't happy. read more

Mimi's has been an iconic location for many of us who grew up in Irvine. I have so many great memories here. The food is pretty much the same as it always has been. However, the world outside has changed a lot. The demographics and tastes of the people have changed. This used to be a vibrant place with families and all generations of people eating here. Now there seems to be a crowd of people middle aged or older. Very few people under the age of thirty. I was there for a meeting. The host had no idea if any meeting was happening. I had to call the office to find my person. Once I sat down, no one greeted me. I had to ask for menus, water, and had to get up and find someone to take my order. None of the staff had a smile on their faces. It was like I was at "Grumpies" and not Mimi's. The food was the best part of eating there. Mimis needs to adapt, offer something for the younger crowd, and just maybe, modernize. I would start with new management. Bring in people with a smile on their faces and a joy to work there. Energy, charisma, joy, are all attractive things to bring in the younger crowd. Everyone here is just going through the motions and watching the clock. A friendly "Hello," would have made a huge difference. I'm hoping for the best for this Mimi's. read more

I haven't eaten Mimi's in almost 15 years and now I know why. I was craving it this morning and when I got my food today, I was so disappointed. There was no attention put into my food. The potatoes tasted old and not fresh. The turkey sausage felt like it was microwaved. It was just sad the lack of care put into the food. I am surprised there were so many people there. Maybe because it's a weekend. But I just couldn't even eat it. It was not enjoyable. I would rather pay triple elsewhere and actually enjoy the food. Sorry guys. This is the truth. Noon lunch on a Wednesday. They must make their weekly lunch money on the large "free business lunch" connection meeting happening in side back room. Loud clapping right next to our booth with just thin glass separating. Ask to sit in front room on a Wed at noon. Food is average although the cranberry walnut salad was very large & lettuce was fresh. Added shrimp for $5 which was 2 skewers if 4 small overcooked shrimp. Our server was friendly & nice. David was our waiter at breakfast on Thursday, April 3, 2025. I wish I knew who raised him, because I would love to tell them what a wonderful job they must have done. He was kind, super-patient, intuitive and understanding and also an excellent waiter from a professional perspective. For personal reasons it usually takes us a long time to order and to eat so we had lots of time to also observe his interaction with other groups in the room and everyone got the same sort of service. I came with my friends and several of our little ones and instead of treating our kids as an inconvenience, the staff were friendly and helpful to them. They were also very accommodating of everyone's allergies, "on the side", and substitutions. The food is really tasty and value for money. I am quite impressed with the pot roast entree and the other items from the $29 3-course menu that my friends ordered. The French onion soup is not too salty. It is savory and flavorful. I dipped the French bread they brought into the soup and basically licked the soup bowl clean. The restaurant is clean and overall a pleasant place to dine. I am definitely coming back. Maybe next time, instead of a large party, I will bring my kids back for their kids meal! read more

The pot roast was tender and flavorful, and the French onion soup was perfectly rich with just the right amount of cheesy goodness. Roger recommended them, and I'm so glad I followed his suggestion! Sigh. I have really given Mimis more than enough chances. I really do love that French Onion Soup! Unfortunately their lack of quality control from the kitchen and poor response from the management has made me not want to go there anymore. The last 6 times that I have gone there has been something grossly wrong with my food. One time the soup was still frozen in the middle. Another time the bread was frozen. If we request something on the side, it still comes on the meal. If we request no onions, they are still on there. Several times the server has brought out food that was obviously wrong and then scurried away before we could ask for it to be corrected. One time the manager happened to walk by (when my soup was a large frozen chunk in the middle). Went here for breakfast on my girlfriend's last day of her visit from Japan. Her avocado omelette was good. Potatoes were good. Coffee was good. So what's the problem then you ask... :) I ordered a pancake plate. Problems: Order was missed in kitchen, when I finally got them (finally cause I kept hearing the waitress keep asking for them about 7-10 times) they were not cooked! I can perhaps understand burnt pancakes, but uncooked? I'd hate to try any of their poultry considering pancakes are pretty easy to make. Worst part was, waitress still asked if they should remove the charge from our bill? Really? Talk about not caring about your consumers. My daughter and I went for breakfast this morning to Mimi's Cafe in Fountain Valley. It was delicious. I had brioche with strawberries and blueberries on top. My daughter had a veggie omelette. The service was excellent. Our server was Carrie. We talked about how crowded Mimi's used to be and discussed some of the menu items they used to have. We suggested that they try to bring back some of those items so that people would want to come back again. There were not very many people in the restaurant at the time that we were there. I like that atmosphere here at Mimi's and the French and Louisiana style decor. The food is also really quite good although very very heavy and you leave with that uncomfortable bloated feeling. I get the same thing from most Italian and Indian restauraunts. I never get that feeling at say a Thai or vietnamese restaurant. I love the muffins they serve at Mimi's and it seems like most of the meals I've ever ordered here come with a muffin for whatever reason. Not really encouraging, plus the dining room to the left of the lobby is depressing looking. Loved going to Mimi's in former years, but this once good chain-restaurant has gone downhill; maybe it's just the Irvine location that isn't working out? We walked around the back to the larger door. When you pull up if you walk past all the golf carts and to the right you are good. I ordered a traditional breakfast because I had big lunch plans and didnt want anything super heavy. The bacon that I ordered crispy was perfect. Everyone who got toast, it came out in one basket. When I put the butter on, it didnt melt as the toast wasnt hot but it was still good. The side of fruit was amazing despite my rotten strawberry :) I ordered decaf coffee which was also really good. Service was quick, friendly and good! Found this place last minute for a monthly breakfast get together and I would definitely return! Pricing was also VERY fair!

The chicken was TINY. Like a chicken nugget. After the 3rd time remaking the sandwich you'd think it'd be right. They didn't even offer to comp the meal, we had to ask. Very poor service and I'm disappointed because we live Nordstrom cafe.

As far as service, it's more of a self-served restaurant and no one is available to serve other than just bring the food to the table. I had the grass-fed steak with broccolini and Moroccan chicken stew and hubby had the same grass-fed steak but he wanted mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. The steak was perfectly grilled and seasoned. Sesame broccolini had great flavor and tasted so good. Wish portion is a bit larger for the sliced steak. Hubby loved his selections and the lemonade. All was great!

So many have disappeared over the years, which makes me especially happy that Togo's is still going strong in Heritage Plaza! I was recently in Irvine and stopped by for a sandwich, and everything was just how I remembered it. There's something so comforting about coming back to a longtime favorite and having it still feel the same. The employees were also very nice and welcoming. If you haven't tried the Italian, I highly recommend it, delicious! I hope this Togo's stays in Heritage Plaza for many more years. Ruby's has had its ups and downs throughout the years, and some locations like Woodbridge, Irvine have permanently closed for business. It's been a few years since we've visited the Tustin location at the corner of Newport Avenue and Irvine Blvd. Same nostalgic decor and same great service, but the menu is not what it once was and the food quality has unfortunately declined. I ordered the Super Burger (melted double Swiss cheese, crisp lettuce, Ruby's Burger Sauce and sliced avocado served on grilled Parmesan sourdough), and I upgraded to Cajun fries. It sounded better than it tasted, but the portion size was generous. My favorite part of the meal was the refillable Vanilla Coke. It was a bonus that my daughter got to see vintage decor like a locomotive, payphone and gumball machine!
