The food was not good. The order for the breakfast chicken tenders with french fries it was super cooked was dry and couldn't eat and the rest of the order was awful. I just waste money. The avocado toast wasn't toasted just they cut avocado and tomato without toast on the top and the bread was so dry. We ordered eight people and wasn't good. Everyone wasn't happy. read more

My husband loves brunch at Mimi's Cafe but we haven't been in several years so it's become a place of nostalgia for us. For Father's Day, he wanted Mimi's Cafe so we went! He had the steak and eggs and had the potato eggs benedict with a muffin. OMG the muffins! I don't know what makes them so good but they're GOOD! Haven't been to Mimi's Cafe in almost 15 years, but not much has changed. Decor is still a cute French cafe, Staff were friendly and stopped by often to check on us, and food was decent even though the prices have gone up. The cheese and bread on top of the soups could have been a bit more toasted (mine was only slightly warm), but the carrot loaf was delicious! read more

The interior gives a rustic cottage vibe. We ordered the lunch combo and enjoyed the French onion soup, jambalaya and lava cake. We opted for the additional appetizer to try the spinach artichoke dip. Everything but the artichoke dip was good, the artichoke dip was lacking in flavor. Slightly above a dennys or iHop. We wanted to try Mimi's specifically for the butter toffee cake. It's not quite Gordon Ramsay status but was still good and had the toffee flavor. Giving them review a 4 due to the service. Our server was very kind but seemed a bit over worked. We waited quite a bit for water and our order to be taken. Our server had multiple tables (8-10) and they were primarily larger groups. In the end we had to wait at the wait station to ask for Togo boxes. read more

Mimi's has been an iconic location for many of us who grew up in Irvine. I have so many great memories here. The food is pretty much the same as it always has been. However, the world outside has changed a lot. The demographics and tastes of the people have changed. This used to be a vibrant place with families and all generations of people eating here. Now there seems to be a crowd of people middle aged or older. Very few people under the age of thirty. I was there for a meeting. The host had no idea if any meeting was happening. I had to call the office to find my person. Once I sat down, no one greeted me. I had to ask for menus, water, and had to get up and find someone to take my order. None of the staff had a smile on their faces. It was like I was at "Grumpies" and not Mimi's. The food was the best part of eating there. Mimis needs to adapt, offer something for the younger crowd, and just maybe, modernize. I would start with new management. Bring in people with a smile on their faces and a joy to work there. Energy, charisma, joy, are all attractive things to bring in the younger crowd. Everyone here is just going through the motions and watching the clock. A friendly "Hello," would have made a huge difference. I'm hoping for the best for this Mimi's. read more

David was our waiter at breakfast on Thursday, April 3, 2025. I wish I knew who raised him, because I would love to tell them what a wonderful job they must have done. He was kind, super-patient, intuitive and understanding and also an excellent waiter from a professional perspective. For personal reasons it usually takes us a long time to order and to eat so we had lots of time to also observe his interaction with other groups in the room and everyone got the same sort of service. Noon lunch on a Wednesday. They must make their weekly lunch money on the large "free business lunch" connection meeting happening in side back room. Loud clapping right next to our booth with just thin glass separating. Ask to sit in front room on a Wed at noon. Food is average although the cranberry walnut salad was very large & lettuce was fresh. Added shrimp for $5 which was 2 skewers if 4 small overcooked shrimp. Our server was friendly & nice. I came with my friends and several of our little ones and instead of treating our kids as an inconvenience, the staff were friendly and helpful to them. They were also very accommodating of everyone's allergies, "on the side", and substitutions. The food is really tasty and value for money. I am quite impressed with the pot roast entree and the other items from the $29 3-course menu that my friends ordered. The French onion soup is not too salty. It is savory and flavorful. I dipped the French bread they brought into the soup and basically licked the soup bowl clean. The restaurant is clean and overall a pleasant place to dine. I am definitely coming back. Came in on Wednesday night to celebrate anniversary dinner. We were sat after a short wait. Only about six tables occupied. Server brought drinks and took our food order. Answered questions about preparation. The food arrived promptly and was very attractively presented and delicious! We all cleaned our plates and ordered two desserts for the three of us to share. Chocolate lava cake and Tiramisu are highly recommended by us. Paid slightly more than the three of us spent at Dennys recently, but infinitely better quality. read more
