Had lunch here today and was disappointed beyond belief. Ordered the Mushroom and Brie Melt with fries. The bread was absolutely drenched in grease and had no crispness to it and the fries were limp and soggy with grease, as if the cooking oil wasn't yet up to temperature (we ate at 11am). I thought, "would the cook who made this actually eat it proudly, himself?" I can not imagine the answer would be yes. Service was satisfactory and the host who greeted us was friendly. read more

Mimi's Cafe is a nice place to stop by if your in the mood for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This was my first time here and I was wanting more so breakfast and my partner more so lunch... So, we did just that ordered from each menu and while I was drinking coffee, she was drinking mimosas's (LOL!) doing our thing and living it! Mimi's was a nice establishment and is laid out nice with roominess and comfort; Love the look! My waitress was great and she took great care of us and our glasses never got empty, etc. Only thing you may have to wait a little bit for your food due to this place was very busy, which is a good sign that people like this place. One thing that caught my EYE was the 100 score they had on the wall from the health department (Wow!!!) See my pic... The food verdict - 1. Food was GREAT! 2. My breakfast was excellent; Coffee was great also. See pics... 3. The lunch my partner ordered looked great and according to her it was excellent! 4. Overall FOOD was GREAT! Had no idea this was a chain, not local to Michigan. First the good. The place looks great from outside. In real estate you would say outstanding curb appeal. The waitstaff was friendly and our waitress had great hair. Actually McKenna is a good waitress, clearly she's been doing it for a while. The decor was different. The walls and ceiling were nice, the carpet and booths remind one of an early 1970's Big Boy that was ready for an update. The food was average to slightly above. My wife order a bowl of soup but "we ran out of bowls so you get two cups for the price of a bowl." No dishwasher? None of the kitchen staff, they were visible were wearing masks, the one cook did have a hairnet on his rather impressive beard. Then the was the slop bucket on the table in the middle of the dining room. Yep, the bucket for wiping down tables, never refreshed that I saw, two tables away. Yuck! I went shopping and bum across this place. I was like probably good since it's small. I was right I had the tomato basil soup which was very thick and juicy. I then had the French Creole pasta with no shrimp and it was amazing. The flavor was deep in the chicken. I then had 2 patron margaritas which was at least more than usual liquor. Always a YYUMMY meal, we went last night March Madness was in full swing so most places with TVs were body to body. It was lovely! They had TWO SERVERS and we only waited 20 minutes. Lee held it down! She was project managing tables, someone get her the herding kittens award of the year! Then the to go counter was legit handling things, food boxes piled HIGH and just as pleasant and calm as if they had 20 more staff. Our server Corbin looked like he hadn't taken a sip of water and was running 40 tables himself - and still as calm and lovely as if they were not short staffed. The food was fantastic, service was fantastic, Corbin was a pro, Lee was a pro, I think the food service was even faster than even is normally which is usually fast for a yummy place like their meals - I just had to share that they could be in a jam if the whole staff that night wasn't absolutely working as one. I've been coming to this location for years. When they first opened everything they did was perfect. Then a couple of years ago they had a huge shift in their dynamic and their service and food quality started sinking. This last visit was amazing. I ordered the Pain Perdu Grande and the Mimimimosa to compliment it. The manager greeted me warmly when I entered the restaurant, and the food was delivered quickly and was far above my expectations. My server, Te'Meil was great and came to the table just often enough to keep me satisfied but didn't bother me by checking back too often. Great job guys. read more

I'm not sure why some bad reviews but I really like this place. Every time I come here in Murfreesboro I always have 5 Star service. This time was even more friendly from the hostess, to the server, to even the food runners. Greeting me and my friend and checking on us. The manager was even out doing table checks and he was even friendly. I always order the same thing but last night I took a chance and ordered the chicken Mac and cheese and my buddy ordered the tuna melt. We left with the bread pudding dessert. We've been coming here since they opened their doors in Murfreesboro. Been about 6 months since our last visit and we had a large group of 11. I understand waiting with a large group, but it went for over an hour when told 25-30 minutes. The manager/clown in the white jacket was rude. We saw 7 groups sat before us of 5-7 guests that all arrived after us. The opportunity to seat us in a timely fashion was there, but the manager was not interested in doing so. We won't be back. Can't rate the food this trip because we left after we reached the 75 minute wait mark. read more

No Brick Chicken for you! (frustrated laugh). This is my second time coming to Mimi's for the Brick Chicken. And the second time I have been denied Can't believe I am disappointed again! The first time, I waited at the front to be seated but it appeared no one was working the desk. I opted for another restaurant next door that seated me promptly. Today, there is a hostess but my waitress let me know that they were out of the Brick Chicken when I requested it. She was kind enough to check in the back to be sure. She did give me the option of hanging out for 30 minutes while they made a fresh batch. I declined and opted for the grilled Atlantic Salmon instead. It is OK, but definitely NOT what I had in mind when I pulled in. Not sure if I will make a 3rd attempt. Somehow I am thinking it should not be this hard to hit a chicken with a brick lol. We came here to get a warm breakfast on the last day of our trip and Mimi's was close to the hotel. Our server Chloe was wonderful. She was so patient with our kids, we never needed for anything, and kept my coffee full and hot. I only go here for their breakfast! The food is delicious and the coffee is fantastic. One of my favorite things is their almond croissant. It's so fluffy, flaky and filled with almond marzipan. I also recommend their muffins and it comes with different flavors to choose from. Their mimosas are amazing and they always give you the remaining champagne in the mini bottle so that you may add to your glass. :) I think it's nice because normally, you only get the amount in your glass. Only four stars given because sometimes the servers don't come around often enough. But because this is one of my favorite breakfast places in the boro, I will continue to go. read more

Had a wedding rehearsal dinner here with the extended family. A large group -- maybe three dozen people. We had a simplified menu, I'm guessing. The decor was pretty clever, instead of over the top. Kind of French cafe combined with jazz themed decorations. I got the salmon. The choice was grilled or seared. Why not try seared? It was done well. And well done. I would have preferred the fish to be cooked for less time, but the sear was great -- added a lot of flavor. The broccoli that came with it was steamed and still crunchy -- just the way I'd make it at home, but I didn't detect any added flavorings. Same for the brown rice. Needed some salt, at least. My eyes had opened wide when I realized I'd be getting some brown rice with my fish but it resembled oatmeal -- soft and stuck together in a sticky mass, and it didn't seem like mochi rice. Maybe it was brown arborio rice? I joked that I ought to go back there in the kitchen and show them how it's done. I like my oatmeal and my short grain rice crunchy. The apple crisp dessert was awesome. Nicely spiced with cinnamon and brown sugar. Not too sweet. Topped with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. The bread pudding portion was generous, but it needed more oomph. Like some cinnamon, or even brandy. So I have to give this place 2.5 stars. Not quite A-OK, but not Meh! either. Maybe a regular meal with only a two or four people at the table might have gone much differently. I figure, we might have had a special menu that allowed the restaurant to crank out a lot of meals at the same time without strain. The wait staff were polite, attentive, and thoughtful.
