At first, my husband was able to see Dr. Thakkar directly for the first few visits, and we appreciated having the neurologist personally evaluate his condition and treatment. After those initial 2-3 appointments, however, all subsequent visits were scheduled with a physician assistant instead of with Dr. Thakkar, even though my husband's case is long‑standing and complex. I understand that practices often use PAs to help with scheduling and workload, but as a caregiver I expected my husband to be followed primarily by the neurologist we chose. Over time it felt like we no longer truly had access to Dr. Thakkar himself, which was disappointing and concerning given the seriousness and duration of my husband's Parkinson's. Because of this, I eventually decided to stop bringing my husband to this office and moved his care to a different neurologist who sees him personally at each visit. This review reflects our personal experience and expectations; other patients may feel differently, but continuity with the actual neurologist was important enough that we chose to seek care elsewhere.

The office staff is usually nice unless you complain or argue about anything, then they turn so ridiculously rude, I wish I had kept my mouth shut--which I do now! Lesson learned! They very rarely answer the phone and if you leave a message, getting a return call is even more rare. When it's time to get refills on prescriptions, my pharmacy has to contact them several times before giving up and asking me to contact them. Then I usually have to leave several message, which they do not respond to, so I have to keep calling until I finally get someone to answer and then, even though they tell me they will take care of it, it ALWAYS takes several more calls before it actually gets taken care of. This is when it gets very hard not to get angry and complain about things, but then I imagine I would NEVER get my refills! Now they have moved their office and I was told they would be closed last week for the move, but it is still impossible to get through to them today, I keep getting an automated message that the subscriber I'm trying to reach is unavailable with no way to leave a message (not that it would help). That is what prompted me to log on to Yelp, trying to find a website so I could send an email because, once again, I have a refill request that I've been trying to get filled for a couple of weeks now. I submitted my request a week before they were closed for their move; I didn't even try last week because I knew they were closed but now, I still can't get a hold of them. Finding these reviews that reflect my own feelings has given me the push I need to find a different doctor and I suggest anyone reading this do the same and don't waste time with this one!!!
