Mineo's to me is the best pizza in the Burgh. I have been to both Squirell Hill and Mt. Lebanon and the pizza was excellent. The reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the prices have gone up too much. They also have made their cuts and pies smaller. I wish they would consider to lowering prices some. read more

Important: This pizza shop is cash only!! We got the heart shaped traditional pizza with cheese and a gluten free traditional pizza. I can't say if the traditional is good or not since I am gluten free. This review is just based on the gluten free pizza. I would have to rate the pizza as a 7/10 as it's ok for a gluten free pizza but I am not sure why it's so greasy compared to the traditional. I don't think I will be in a hurry back for another gluten free pizza anytime soon compared to other gluten free pizza shops. This pizza is just meh and giving it a 7/10 is pretty generous for a pizza that I just think is rather basic. I still don't understand why mine is so greasy compared to the non-gluten free crust. Pros: Corner Pizza shop which can mean that you can find parking on Washington or where all those apartments are/street parking. Good variety Gluten free options which is like a bit hard to find at all pizza shops in this area It's not too far from where I live The pizza shop has tables and it's a bit spacious instead of just a tiny shop like Giovanni's on West Liberty Ave. Gluten free crust isn't thin like other shops. This restaurant was not our destination. It was a pit stop on the way to Visit PA 2023 scavenger hunt for mom/pop ice cream shops ... Betsy's Ice Cream across the street. Automatic 3/5 for cash only when dining/ordering onsite. There was an "ATM" available. No wait staff. All ordering done at the counter. We ordered wedding soup, wings, small pizza, and spinach calzone. The wedding soup was salty with a broth that had been absorbed by the pastini. The wings were enjoyed. The small pizza was split by 2 tweens hit the spot. The calzone was ooey gooey with melted cheese spinach, artichoke, and mushrooms - delicious. A pay parking lot was right across the street. Reasonable rates. We will be back because the crust on the pizza and calzone was delicious. For the safety of your staff (large customer base) and customer convenience, consider credit card sales. read more

I adore this pizza. Both the plain and the white (with tomatoes) versions are delicious. A few suggestions: 1) Consider accepting credit cards. My wife and I have not ordered pizza from Mineo's countless times because we rarely carry cash on us, and ATM fees are a scam. 2) The cheese and sauce amount are just right BUT there must be some way to get that cheese to stay on the pizza without falling off once you pick a slice up. 3) Please cut the pizza into slices more throughly. We have to use our pizza slicer at home to finish the job, which takes a while and heat escapes from pizza very quickly. 4) Hope there are plans to get a new, aesthetically pleasing outdoor sign! I've been hearing things about Mineo's for the last three years I've been living in PGH so I figured it was time to drive 40 minutes down the road and give it a try. Their pizza is a Pittsburgh staple - there's an ongoing debate on which pizza is better - Mineo's vs Aiello's - why can't I say both? Their crust is not too thick and has a nice crunch to it and homemade sauce not too sweet plus the mounds of cheese they put on -yum. The only thing I have to remember is to bring a bottle of water to bed because I always wake up so thirsty in the middle of the night after eating this for dinner. It's nice they have this location (I used to have to trek to squirrel hill) and what might be the greatest thing I ever discovered (or worst if you're my bathroom scale) is that they sell Prantl's burnt almond torte slices!! Ok... so I remember having a late night here a few years ago after a Christmas party and I LOOOOVED their pizza, which is a tough thing to get out of a Jersey transplant. I finally convinced my husband it was time to go here. This time we got the John's Special pie and it was not as good as I remembered it being. The toppings (I assume) caused the crust to be way too limp and soggy and were pretty much all in the center which led to needing to spread them more evenly before cutting it up. My daughter got a slice of plain and I do feel like it is closer to the one I liked. It may be that this is just best enjoyed at the restaurant fresh out of the oven but I do only live a few minutes away. We also got their calzone which was VERY good. The sauce tastes fresh, slighty sweet and slightly acidic. The crust was very crunchy and dense. Because I prefer chewy and thin crust, this was not the right accompanying crust for me. Definitely a good pie, no doubt about it. There's a reason why it's famous in Pittsburgh. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is mild, and the cheese is plenty. One thing that makes Mineo's different from your standard pie is that the meat toppings are under the cheese, which I think prevents them from drying out during the baking process. This can be a good thing but I kind of like it when my pepperoni is a little crispy. I'm sure you can request them to place the toppings on top. Mineo's is a staple eatery in Uptown Mt. Lebanon. While the pizza is a little too greasy and cheesy for my taste, the flavor is phenomenal!
