Our 1st visit and it has great ambience! Great walking distance to the Kauffman Performing Arts as well. It was happy hour so we had to do a sample feast!!! 4 of us shared several apps ... the tomato bruschetta is warm ( it surprised us). Everything was flavorful and service was excellent! Beautiful atmosphere. However, this experience was so chaotic and such a let down. We came for restaurant week and were ready to fall in love with the place. The wine menu is vast and the wine flights were great. Our service was extremely lacking though. We tried our best to be patient, but we were constantly having to make sure our orders were put in and that food was coming. We ended up being there for almost 4 hours for no reason. The group next to us was served much more promptly for no apparent reason even though they arrived an hour after us. Really wanted to like this place, but might have to wait it out and see if it improves. read more

Interior was beautiful, and the drinks were delicious with incredible flavor notes. Mediterranean tapas are new on the scene for KC; loved the Mezze platter for a good taster selection of several tapas-- the Cana da Cabra and stuffed meatballs were probably my second favorites! Capers and olives aren't for me, but the friend who ordered the Ahi Tuna said it was delicious and ate every bite!! Sangria was my personal favorite drink- the flavor notes of cinnamon, pineapple, lemon, and lime contrasted the wine perfectly. Service and management was incredibly helpful and kind! That, my friends, is what you find at the Mineral Lounge. From the m9ment Chris greeted us at the door, the four of us in our party were impressed. We all started with a cocktail, all of which were innovative in some way as well as being delicious. For food, we tended to order the small plates three or four at a time and share all. Our favorite was the very first we tried, the Green Gazpacho. It was absolutely fabulous. Three of us really liked the scallop ceviche. It was served with some excellent potato chips from Spain - a nice change of pace from boring tortilla chips. In all, we tried seven dishes and loved the flavor of each. The only suggestion we had for I,provement concerned the Za'atar Roasted Cauliflower. It was absolutely delicious, but we would have preferred larger pieces of cauliflower rather than the tiny ones. All other dishes we would gladly have again. The service was spectacular. Chris was our server and was personable, prompt when we wanted promptness, allowed us to be slow when we needed that, and was incredibly knowledgeable regarding all the food and every wine that we asked about. Excellent food and ambience are critical to a good experience, but superior service is what tops off a great experience, and that's what Chris provided. This was our first time here. Love the ambiance... sophisticated and classy. Love the location, right across the street from Kaufmann Center for Performing Arts. We stopped in for pre-performance cocktails and appetizers. They have a daily happy hour from 4-6. We ordered several appetizers to share. The bay scallop ceviche was served with a bag of chips which I found odd and difficult to eat the ceviche with. The ceviche its self was tasty. We also got the lamb meatballs which I did not care for but it may have been the seasoning. The tomato bruschetta was innovative with olives, feta and served warm. It was surprisingly delicious. The rosemary focaccia was flavorful but I'm not sure it was worth $18. Lastly we had the Artisanal cheese plate which is sourced from Green Dirt farm. It was served with crusty bread and there was plenty to share. Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable on the different wines offered. read more

As soon as the sun goes down, it's cozy lamp light only. This is the place to go on a romantic date and cuddle up next to your date on a couch and sip wine. This is the place to meet up with your wine-obsessed friend for snacks. This is not the place to bring big groups -- it's a small space. There are 3 "real" tables, and the rest of the seating is high top tables, the bar, or couches with side tables. So this is also not the place to bring your elderly grandma or spontaneously meet up with someone who wants to eat a full meal at a table. Definitely recommend a reservation if you prefer certain seating. Know the vibe before you go! The staff is very knowledgeable about the wine list, and the bartender was super helpful with giving me recommendations from the concise Mediterranean wine list. The food was pretty tasty! Lots of small plates to share with friends over a glass of wine, and lots of vegetarian options. The wine was definitely the star of the evening, not the food. There is typically a good amount of street parking behind and around the restaurant. Definitely make a night of it and head across the street for a performance at the Kauffman! read more

If you are tickeled by the food and drink offerings, service, and experience of Tanin Wine Bar, but you are looking to spice things up while indulging in incredible views of the Kauffman Perfroming Arts Center...then enter Mineral Lounge. An upscale wine and small bites bar that is the perfect fresh new meeting spot for girls' night or a pre-performance cocktail and snack (or even a nightcap destination). It is the definition of classy; the inside is understated, and the menu fits neatly on one page. Also, Mineral Lounge has the same attentive waitstaff as Tanin, which means these people know their stuff. It's refreshing to find so many enthusiastic employees who share the owner's vision and provide visitors a concierge level of service. If you have any questions about the ever rotating seasonal menu or, of course, the tantalizing wine selection, don't feel shy asking because everyone here is friendly as well as knowledgeable. Another plus is that most of the wine seems to be served by the glass, with a good number of options being around $15. It's definitely still a treat for a tasty glass of wine however, it's less intimidating than the selection at Tanin and without having to commit to a full bottle you are able to try out more wine, and who would complain about that? On my first stop in (and I can attest to the fact that they'll be many more), I had to go with the bartenders closest choice to a Malbec, which was jammy to me tasting like a lot of plum and blackberry but was rounded out and smooth. After that glass, I decided to get trendy and go with an impeccable orange wine that was dry but had enough sweetness to end out a meal or pair nicely with the carrots, in my opinion. Now, onto those scrumptious carrots, summery but still in season for early September, they had layers of textures and flavors. If you love freshness in a dish with enough zing from the citrus, then try this veggie forward dish. The gracious clumps of goat cheese and the crispy nutty pistachios melted into the greens and paired so nicely with the slighty sweet vinegrette. This was a standout dish, so I couldn't be more excited to try more of the menu. Speaking of the menu, it's definitely on the lighter side leaning towards a Mediterranean mindset and offering sharable tapas and appetizers, but not a lot of meat heavy entrees so, don't expect a Duroc porkchop here. Instead, come in with an open mind ready to experience colorful clean food that pops off the plate and pairs perfectly with a glass of wine or two...or three. read more

Where to begin with this amazing establishment. Affiliated with Tannin Wine Bar & Kitchen with An incredibly inviting ambiance. The lounge area has plenty of comfortable seating and the lighting is quaint and subtle. Chris our server was welcoming and spoke to us about the curated cocktail menu when we had any question. It was evident he has put his time and energy into every ingredient in every cocktail, which came through in spades. There was an espresso martini riff called the Nessus Dorma! (not pictured sorry) that was absolutely incredible. Also the small bites menu was perfect (included in the picture), the Za'atar roasted cauliflower had an explosion of flavors and I will be ordering two next time. We didn't get the focaccia but was recommended so maybe next time. The room was filled with amazing planters and decorated with Chris' personal plant and flower collection, reinforcing his dedication to this wonderful establishment. The views of downtown KC were perfect and the Kaufman Center for the Performing Arts ("the croissant") was in direct view. Of note the Mineral Lounge has a partnership with the KC ballet via specialty cocktails that will donate a portion of the sale directly to them!! We went on a Sunday during happy hour. The host was nice and friendly. The waitress was really sweet. They gave us plenty of time to look through the me I and enjoy our food and drinks. Happy hour was a great deal, BOGO bottle wine! The food prepared in a unique way and was so delicious. The wine was addictive. The lounge decor was cozy and chic. I really could lounge around, read, eat and drink all day. It was a great view of the city from the window as well. We will definitely come back to try more entree and drinks in the menu. The only thing is parking is not easy. We parked behind the building on the street. I'm not sure if it's the safest place. There may be paid garage parking across the street in the Kauffman Center. read more

Love this place. Very small. Ambience is intimate. Only 2 minute walk to Kauffman Center so great location before a show. Food is small plates. My husband and I ordered 4 and they were all delicious. My favorites were the meatballs and tuna crudo. Service is a tad slow so plan ahead. Drinks were good. I loved the Greek red wine. I'm posting pictures....sorry. Such a lovely new spot for downtown KC! The space has tall ceilings and large windows with a gorgeous view of downtown and the Kauffman Center. Lovely ambience, would be a great spot for happy hour, a date or a small group outing. The menu is Mediterranean focused, with a nicely curated wine list and some great seasonal cocktails. Our group tried almost the whole menu of small plates and we especially loved the focaccia with fresh tomato, pesto and burrata. The quark cheese with peaches and pecans was a very close second, along with the scallop ceviche served with Mediterranean herb potato chips. The staff, some of my favorite people from Tannin Wine Bar, are extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Especially since the wines were not as familiar to our group. Kris helped us pick the perfect Slovenian orange wine that was perfect for a summer night. I'm already planning on going back this week with a few more friends! read more
