Loved the vibes and how it's connected to the hotel I stayed at. The dark, mystery, alluring yet mature vibes made for a great night. The staff was super kind and helpful, I enjoyed the staff checking in on me. Now for the food and drinks: Temper tantrum drink was good I'd get it again. I think the house spiced rum, banana and white cocoa sealed it for me, it was like a cozy and well rounded drink. El Diablo was too acidic (they took my advice when I said the alcohol hit me hard, maybe more cassis would have helped). The acidity from the lime somewhat clashed. Marzanna - I should have asked for less tequila but I enjoyed the citrus and grapefruit vibes. It went down easy. Duck fat fries - amazing texture, didn't really taste the duck fat. I've made it myself and I know it's pretty mild flavor, but the scent is there Apple aracini came out burnt a little and lacked flavor - it was a bit big but could have been better. Passion fruit creme brulee did deliver - it's more of a passion fruit custard than a creme brulee. The fruit takes away from the creme brulee flavor (I say this as someone who makes creme brulee a lot) I'll be back for sure! read more

The Savoy is, without question, one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City. I might even argue one of my favorites anywhere. Every visit is an exceptional experience from start to finish. What I appreciate most is the consistency paired with an effortless sense of style. The food is always beautifully prepared, and the service is genuinely outstanding. I've dined here with friends who have Celiac disease, and the level of care from both the chef and the waitstaff was impressive. They were thorough, thoughtful, and clearly took food safety seriously. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance, elegant without feeling stuffy. The history of the restaurant only adds to its charm and uniqueness. Anytime friends ask for a place they haven't been before with great food and great cocktails, The Savoy is always my recommendation. Without fail, they leave impressed. We had a great night out at the historic Savoy for KC's Restaurant Week! We went for a girl's night out but the quiet, dimly lit atmosphere would also make for a romantic date night. There is a lot of awesome history here and the visit is worth it just to see the breathtaking space! Our server was kind and welcoming but may have been distracted. The restaurant wasn't very busy while we were there but he forgot multiple items throughout the evening and would sometimes disappear for quite awhile before we could get his attention. Since 1903, this space has been home to the Savoy Grill, located within the historic Savoy Hotel. The Savoy Hotel holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating hotel in the United States west of the Mississippi River (until its closure for renovations in 2016) and is now part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection. Originally built in 1888 by the owners of the Arbuckle Coffee Company, the property opened in 1889 as the Hotel Thorne and was renamed the Hotel Savoy in 1894. A major renovation in 1903 added the west wing, creating space for the Savoy Grill--now the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri. Over the years, it has welcomed notable guests, including President Harry S. Truman, along with Presidents Harding, Ford, and Reagan. As guests of the Savoy, we were eager to experience breakfast in this storied dining room--and we're very glad we did. Though the restaurant was not busy when we arrived at 9:00 a.m., we were greeted by Brooke, who served as both hostess and server, and seated at a two-top in the center of the room. The Savoy exudes class. While undeniably historic, its finishes and presentations are polished and refined, conveying a distinctly upscale sensibility (note the coffee cup and plating in my photos). We ordered the Smoked Salmon on a toasted Everything Bagel and the Avocado Toast. Both dishes were beautifully presented, made with high-quality ingredients, and thoroughly delicious--clear evidence of a serious kitchen. The coffee, Lavazza Dark Roast, was outstanding, something that is too often overlooked in restaurant dining. The interior itself is a marvel. You are aware of its age and history, yet the overall feel is contemporary rather than stuffy or worn. The space has been meticulously cared for, with thoughtfully updated lighting that highlights the rich dark wood and the 123-year-old murals adorning the walls. Tiffany glass windows and Art Deco lamps complete the effect beautifully. We also glanced at the evening dinner menu, which looked equally impressive (see photos posted by other reviewers on Yelp). First time having brunch here, the staff, of cours,e were amazing I ordered the brunch Burger it was a 5 out of five the bun was nice and soft it was a Smashburger had really good flavor nice and good crunch and chew to the bacon really fulfilling the duck fat fries that came with the burger and an amazing texture and crunch to them. My wife ordered the prime rib sandwich with the duck fat fries. The prime rib was full of flavor, the sourdough bread had a good chew to it, the fries, of course, were amazing as well, and they have great portion sizes. I would give it a four out of five. We had an order of cinnamon rolls to share. I will give it a three and a half out of 5. reasonable size, whatever they put on top of the cinnamon roll was the star of the show, was the center of the cinnamon roll, of course, being where you get the biggest bang for your buck on the cinnamon rolls. I really enjoyed that portion of it. My wife also had a Bloody Mary there for the first time. She really enjoyed it, she said it was very interesting, it had good flavor, and that it had to kill in it, she gave it a 5 out of five. Overall, I've been here for dinner, but never for brunch. The service is friendly and welcoming. There is a nice offering t of cocktails and wine as well as mocktails. We had a great night here at the Savoy! First, we had some wonderful drinks at the bar during happy hour. I enjoyed three oysters from Prince Edward Island, which were delicious. We then moved over to our table which we had reserved on OpenTable and our server, Mae, took great care of us. My wife had the steak frittes, which was skirt steak and absolutely outstanding fries! I had the ribeye, which was a little overcooked and a little too charred on the outside for my liking. They also put some weird sauce on it, which I did not ask for. But it was very good. I would've preferred it without the sauce. But I was not going to send a $74 steak back. We're pretty sure the house steak sauce that came with the steak frittes had crack in it. We were both blown away!! Never have we had a steak sauce that good!!! We both especially liked the Caesar salad, which actually had anchovies. Delicious! We had to run to the theater and enjoyed part of a show at MTH. Then we came back to the Savoy and were blessed to be taken care of by Mackenzie. She may be the best server we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I ordered a bottle of wine and my wife had some delicious cider from Austin Texas. It was a wonderful experience and we love this restaurant. We hope to return. We had a less than pleasant experience with the hotel, but I will review them separately. read more

The 21c Kansas City Museum Hotel has sadly been purchased by Hilton, who have removed almost all of the amazing art from the premises. However, The Savoy restaurant remains, luckily. We ate breakfast at The Savoy when we were staying at the 21c Hotel (RIP). The decor of the restaurant was fun, kitschy, and interesting. Our table was by a giant red penguin statue with fancy uplighting. Even the plates are fancy here, with floral and lattice designs to give your eggs and toast a little pizzaz. So as I mentioned, we had breakfast at The Savoy. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my husband had just some over easy eggs and a salad. The food was good, but "eggs are eggs" as George Constanza once said. So they were well cooked and everything but not anything out of this world. What blew us away, though, was the ambiance and the service. That's worth going back for just for that. I'm not a huge breakfast fan, so I think next time I'm there, I will go at lunch or dinner time. read more

Absolutely delicious! Beautiful, historic, vintage restaurant. Service was top notch. The chef delivered every dish which was a thoughtful touch. The food was the only thing that was good here. And that, folks, we had to wait a long time to receive. Not only did the waitress admit she didn't know the menu while we were visiting on Easter, but our food was cold when it finally arrived an hour later. We will never be back. We had some of the best service we've ever had at The Savoy last weekend. Our server was attentive to anything we could need, was patient with our son who was a bit out of sorts that evening, and helped us stay on time to make it to the Nutcracker performance. The crab fingers were the sleeper hit of the meal. How fun and innovative! Seafood is a hard dish to get right, and KC isn't the place you usually seek out seafood. Having crab fingers with a beer would be a a dream meal! The oxtail was also delicious and the rolls. The Earl Gray tart was our favorite dessert. My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here at The Savoy and surprisingly - it was my first time here. They offered a New Year's Eve four course meal and I was extremely excited to finally give this historic restaurant a try. The ambiance of The Savoy is extravagant and filled with lots of character. Being that it was our first time here, our waiter filled us in on the rich history behind the restaurant and hotel. The service was extremely fast and one of the best services I have ever received. The hospitality was definitely there and it definitely does not go unnoticed. Now although we had the four course NYE menu, there are some items i've had that are similar and comparable to their normal menu. For the first course I chose the beef tartare and to be honest, this was my first time trying tartare and it had a very good flavor but I just feel that tartare is not for me. Something about eating 'raw' beef didn't sit right in my mind, definitely not the restaurant's fault by any means! My partner ordered the foie gras and the foie gras was very tasty but I felt that the buttered toast overpowered the taste of the foie gras. For my second course, I ordered the lobster raviolo and this was super super tasty. The lobster was perfectly cooked and I definitely wouldn't mind just eating an entire dish of this for dinner. By my third course, I was already feeling myself getting full but I couldn't stop there. The filet mignon was cooked medium rare and had very good flavor. My only complaint was that it was a little under lukewarm.. made me wonder if it had died while making its way over to our table. The brussel sprouts were a good pairing and and the potatoes were my favorite thing to eat! Finally, I ended with the hazelnut gateau and this wasn't overly sweet, it definitely hit the spot after everything I ate. Would love to come back during their happy hour! read more

I stay at 21c from time to time. 21c is a unique chain of nice hotels mostly in mid size southern cities and others, and have a big love and presence of tasteful art. This overflows into the restaurant which has a cozy, dark and inviting space. That is hard to pull off. The service here is professional. Everything I have ordered here has been good. They take pride in wine offerings. Great bar. No sports. Only art like movies. I would prefer sports as would a lot of people. On this night I had an excellent Rhône GSM, unique hamburger (very good) and Caesar (below average like salad from bag). read more

The Savoy at 21c is a hidden gem of a find in the Downtown KC area. Set in an old historic hotel with an eclectic bit of modern art as the background, this place hits all the right spots for a fantastic evening. As usual, we started off with a round of cocktails. They have a nice selection including your classic cocktails and then also a seasonal menu, and of course wine selection. For appetizers we started with the oysters which were definitely fresh. We couldn't pass up the Parker house rolls which were perfect, and then we also had the duck pate with the cherry mostarda. All of our mains were absolute perfection, we couldn't decide which we liked better. We ordered the walleye, the lamb shank and the porchetta. Truly all three were fabulous and expertly seasoned without being too much or too rich. For dessert we finished off with coffee which comes from a local shop in the crossroads called Marcell, and paired it with the coconut panna cotta with passion fruit. Yum. Overall 5/5 stars. Service was on point, drinks and food were delivered on time and ambiance was perfect. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a great meal. We were looking for a more quiet place, and this was an excellent choice. Went with their fig cocktail which was delicious! The only complaint I have is that my drink was a pretty small pour. My partner and I decided to celebrate my birthday here on Sunday the 22nd of June. The hostess, whose I name I unfortunately didn't catch, was lovely. Greet was warm and friendly, she sat us in Truman's favorite booth. Prior to our arrival, she set out menus that said Happy Birthday which was sooo sweet. We were so excited to start our experience. The vibe and mood completely changed when our server arrived. Not sure if we did something wrong or if it was just a bad night for our server, Nick but it felt like we were an inconvenience. I would thank him for things and get ignored. Felt rushed to give him everything at one time. Made my partner feel stupid because he asked for "soda water" instead of "Sparkling Water". The whole thing honestly felt a bit hostile. I normally would let that go and just call it a bad night for him but I couldn't help but feel like it was targeted after seeing 1) him be more attentive, friendly and personable with his other tables, and 2) the kindness and professionalism from not only the hostess but the other server as well. We had just a super brief moment with the other server on the floor that night and he was fantastic. My partner and I talked about how we wished he was our server. And we had to ask the hostess to drop checks and boxes for us cause our server hadn't checked in with us since our food dropped. Keep in mind the restaurant wasn't busy. Nick probably had two other tables and enough time to be chatting it up with the bartender (who made some great drinks btw. Melon Dollar Baby is a great name and drink) We didn't even get to order dessert. It's just really disheartening to go out to a supposedly nice restaurant to celebrate your birthday, get treated like this and then pay upwards of $200 ESPECIALLY IN THIS ECONOMY. I normally tip upwards of 20% because I work in the service industry as well and really struggled with how much I was going to leave him. Originally had like $75 set aside for tip, considered stiffing but ended up leaving $20 because despite the disappointing service, I'm not gonna be an a hole and give you nothing even if that means I'm practically paying YOU to be one to me. We had reservations for The Savoy for Christmas Eve dinner. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and our table was ready. Our server poured us glasses of water and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. I was not drinking, but I did notice quite an expansive drink menu. The bar area also looked awesome and well kept. We ordered the crab dip to share. It is served cold with a few crackers. The dip was good but we could've used a few more crackers. Had to really pack on the dip for the last couple crackers to not have to just eat it plain without any crackers left. I ordered the diver scallops for my entree, and we shared the celery root-potato gratin. The portion size for the scallops was definitely smaller than I'd hoped. There were 3 scallops for the $42 entree. While I thought the portion was small, the scallops were cooked to perfection. The potato gratin was very tasty with the gruyere. For dessert we shared the apple tart, which we found out was the last one for the night. It was an elevated version of an apple tart I'd typically see. Really great! Dessert is a must! The service was great and the restaurant is decorated nicely. I really liked the interior and the cool vibes with the dim lighting. I went to the Savoy on last Saturday for Fran's birthday. We were a party of seven. Our server was David. It was his last night. We know that because he told us. We waited 30 to 45 minutes between each course at 9 PM we were done eating at 9:38. The manager came out and told us they had a problem with our check and they could not split it. They could only split parties of six or less mind driver reservation was a party of seven sorry our reservation was a party of 10 only seven people showed up the manager was very nonchalant very flip. It didn't care that we weren't willing to put a $700 meal on one card because we weren't instructed at the time of reservation at the time of sit down at the time of ordering when we sit down at 6:30 so we were there for three hours before that we got our check and they explained to us that we could not they cannot split a party of seven yeah they did eventually split it. Came to The Savoy after a 14 hour hospital shift just wanting to unwind with an Old Fashioned. The bartender tells me they "don't have the setup" and can only do brunch drinks like mimosas or espresso martinis. Meanwhile there's a full bar behind her and bitters sitting right there. She gave me a look like I was doing something wrong for ordering a real drink. I work nights as a nurse -- 8am is basically my 8pm. I tried reaching out to the manager after and never heard back. Pretty sad for a place that's supposed to be nice. If you can make mimosas and espresso martinis, you can make an Old Fashioned. Just lazy and dismissive service. read more

The service was fantastic & the ambiance was very upscale and romantic. The main steak, seafood, & side dishes were absolutely delicious! However I feel all of it was a little overpriced. I ordered the ricotta cavatelli with the lamb ragu and wouldn't recommend it but since we ordered so many little things to share with the group it didn't put a damper on the rest of the delicious options. The two other members of my party ordered steaks and they were cooked to perfection. Quick note on the hostess stand/main entrance from the street- there's no hostess stand or anyone to greet you at that door and it's a bit confusing. I just had the single worst experience I've had at a restaurant in the last 5 years. Some background on me. I travel for work. I eat at 3 (typically nicer, higher end) restaurants every week. I very rarely feel the need to write a review. And almost never write a bad review. I walked into Savoy at 5:45 pm. I was the only person at a table and there were 2 people at the bar. They just opened at 5. I had reviewed the menu before I came in so I mostly knew what I was ordering. I asked for unsweet tea and I asked the server if the filet came with anything (namely vegetables. Broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, anything). I was told it does not which surprised me a little because there are very little vegetables on the menu to order. The options were a peach salad that had a bunch of stuff on it, a ceaser salad, some sort of squash or Yukon gold potatoes. Not even a basic house salad. I ordered a ceaser and the filet so I would at least get some veggies despite a ceaser not being very healthy. The ceaser came in roughly 10 minutes. It was fine. It tasted like a ceaser salad. It was roughly a cup of lettuce with croutons, parmesan and some anchovies. It was finished fast. Then came the first wait. I order my filet Pitsburgh which means it gets a fast hard sear on the outside and stays pretty much raw throughout. When I do it at home in my cast iron it takes 3-4 minutes total. I waited for my steak for 30 minutes. It finally came out, cut in half on a bed of Diane Sauce. It was medium rare. There was almost no sear on the outside. And it was the smallest 8oz filet I have ever seen. It is possible that it being cut in half made my perception see it as small though. I'm not one to complain and I never send food back, not to mention I was hungry after waiting so long, so I ate up. It was incredibly bland. You could tell they were depending on the Diane Sauce for flavor. I finished the steak in roughly 10 minutes because I was taking my time. Here comes wait #2. I had my card out and gave it to my server when she picked up my plate. From that moment, it was 30 minutes until I got my receipt. They were having some sort of system issue and my server handed it off to her manager to process. Again, I can understand system issues but I can't understand poor service. If I were in the managers position I would have offered a desert, a drink or even just some more tea while my customer waited. I would have turned them down but the gesture would have been nice. Instead I sat there for 30 uninterrupted minutes, with my empty tea cup and my head down on the table. I contemplated how a restaurant can charge me $85 for a cup of salad, a poorly cooked $10 filet and bad service. The manager never came over to apologize. Finally my receipt landed in front of me, I signed off and left. It took almost an hour and a half to get a small salad and the world most simple steak and it cost me $85. I am incredibly disappointed. Do yourself a favor. Last night I ate at a small restaurant around the corner from the Savoy called The Magestic. The food was fantastic, the service was fantastic, the serving size was enough to feed an adult and from the time I walked through the door to the time I signed the bill ($65 btw) I was in the restaurant for 40 minutes. read more

I'm staying at 21C Kansas City, home of Savoy. I'm staying here for two nights and will likely eat here tomorrow as well, so usually I wait until the end of my stay to review my meals. But I loved my meal tonight so much that I am giving it five stars on the first night. Appetizer: I had the heirloom tomatoes with Buffalo mozzarella and basil, served with an unexpected tomato extract gelatin, seasoned with peppers. Cool and refreshing for these hot summer months. I had a couple of cocktails, both of which were amazing. Call this # now with Chicago gin, tarragon, wormwood, and more. Unusual and delightful sipping drink. And then the pure prophet, which was my favorite. Sotol, mezcal, ginger, honey, and more. Smoky, refreshing. And then my entree. The beef sirloin. This was mouthwatering. The sirloin was this perfect mix of lean, with just the smallest rim of fat for flavor, served medium rare. Some type of savory season and butter. Roasted carrots and summer corn. And this perfect, amazing, juicy oxtail croquette. Best meal I've had in a long time. Nick was my server. He was understated, helpful, attentive. Support staff were great too. This was our first time at The Savoy. I made a reservation about 2 weeks ahead and I would recommend reservations though it looked like walk ups were seated quickly at the bar. Our server was wonderful and very knowledgeable about what was on the menu and recommendations . I got the Jack Rose drink to start. This was a great drink that was not too sweet. We shared the crab dip starter and I would recommend this for those who enjoy crab. I got the Rainbow trout and found that it was perfectly cooked and the sauce really added to the flavor. We also got a dessert and a side to share. I did enjoy our experience and food but I do think that the prices are a bit high for what you get. read more

My wife and I came to the Savoy for our anniversary and I'm so glad we did. The staff and chefs at the Savoy really made our evening special with their incredible service and delicious dishes. I had been here once before but had only sat at the bar. Their cocktails were complex and thoughtful masterpieces. And I thought to myself if the drinks are this good I can't imagine how great their food must be! So first chance I had for a romantic evening away from the kids I chose the Savoy. We were welcomed with a complimentary drink to celebrate our anniversary, and from there the whole evening was perfect. I don't have the words to describe the depth of flavors and textures that I tasted, all I know is that everything we eat had us Mmmm'ing & Ohhhh'ing. Seriously every time I tried a new dish I would say "now this one is my favorite" or "this is the best thing I've ever eaten". We ate everything they brought out, down to the sauces! Our waiter was super knowledgeable and answered any questions we had about certain dishes and even taught us a few things I had no idea about. The restaurant itself is next to an art gallery so there are always cool things to see. Their menu is always changing with the seasons and ingredients that are in season. The Savoy has quickly become a place I recommend to all our friends and people from out of town. If you live in KC don't miss out! You have to get out and check this place out. read more

Had dinner here on 5/29/25 with a friend from out of town who was staying at the hotel. Venue is amazing with original 120 year old stained glass and murals. The service was excellent with an informative and a bit quirky waiter. This, and the excellent appetizers of garlic bread and stuffed dates left us in anticipation of great entrees. Alas, this was not to be. I had, as did our guest, the carbonara flavored with orange. Quirky and I kind of liked the flavor but the pasta was tough. Al dente is being kind. Our guest only finished about half of hers stating "I don't think it's cooked." By contrast, my wife's rack of lamb was over cooked and dry. Of course having lived in Australia for a year we have high standards for lamb. The martinis were well mixed and very good and really saved the night but I expected more for $100 per person. read more

Arrived for a Sunday brunch with family. Wonderful ambiance with a dark velvet vibe. Stained glass in the windows as well. I liked it! Service was great. Just the right amount of attention. The Brunch menu is very good. Not extensive per se, but with a nice selection. I had the shrimp and grits. Flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Also ordered a side of bacon. Oh my word! It was wonderful! I could have eaten pounds of it!! Others in the party loved their meals as well. Usual brunch drinks. The coffee with the meal was French press, always a nice touch! What a gorgeous atmosphere! I haven't been to the Savoy in almost 15 years and decided to take advantage of Restaurant Week to visit. The building and architecture is lovely and perfect for a date night. The bar is nice and with a good cocktail menu. Our bartender mixed a perfect French 75. They do have a $35 corkage fee if you decide to bring your own wine. The service is also great. Our waiter Riley was awesome. We loved the Prince Edward Island raw oysters and I had the white cheddar rillettes and my husband started with the squash soup. The rillettes was somewhat heavy and should be shared. The soup was packed with flavor and a bit of jalapeno heat. Our entrees were the duck confit gnocchetti (amazing!) and the Berkshire pork shoulder. Both were full of flavor and tasted like a lot of time and care went into the preparation. Dessert was the dark chocolate mousse cake (pretty heavy on the sesame) and the coconut rice pudding (had a wonderful pistachio crumble that sold the dish). Fabulous bar! The bartenders were lovely and engaging. The house red Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious, available in a 6 or 9 ounce pour. They're open until 10pm except Friday & Saturday when they're open until 11pm. The area of the hotel where the bar is located is beautiful- wood, leather accents, and gorgeous stained glass windows. Came here for an evening dinner while staying in the hotel. I would honestly dine here even if we were not. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous with old looking decor, but really nice new additions to the place so it looks really well-maintained and well done. We ordered nearly half the menu, including the pate, and terrine, and the French onion soup, the hamburger, rolls, hasselback potato, fries, Brussels. Was not a fan of the French onion soup it was super watery, but otherwise absolutely everything else was astonishingly delicious I think that it was just off that night! we had a total of eight cocktails. Stayed at the hotel and had our dinner delivered to our room and it felt like we were dining downstairs. After a 9 Hour Dr. we just really wanted some delicious food and to relax and chat boxes on all fronts! Service was friendly and very generous. The food was phenomenal! We got four orders of those tiny oysters make a dozen that were the most crisp refreshing, watermelon meets lychee, flavored! Absolutely spectacular. The crab fingers were a delicious delight, perfect seasoning and innovative dish. My husband had the dock and found it to have robust flavors and perfectly prepared! Drop the nine dollars and get the rolls, they are amazing... You can just eat that garlic butter by itself. I had the cacio e Pepe with porcini mushrooms which also hit the spot! Great portion, sizes and filling, but not stuffed. Definitely if you're looking for a place to eat don't think twice stop here! If we ate in the restaurant, we would be raving about the ambience because we did poke our head in and it looks very sexy! read more
