A couple of weeks ago, though, my wife brought in a beautiful Citizen dive watch of mine that needed a battery. Someone came out from the back room to tell my wife my watch was broken, it didn't need a battery. Lucky for me, wife didn't discard the watch on the way home. I put a battery in it myself and it works fine now. BUT THE PERSON AT SPARROWOOD apparently did not know HOW A WATCH WORKS. Dive watches have screw down stems, and maybe this woman didn't know how to use a dive watch's stem/crown. BUT WHAT SORT OF JEWELER doesn't know how a watch stem works? Never again will I go to this shop. Non-competent, or just lying rather than doing a little battery job? Doesn't matter. Find a jeweler who knows what she is doing.

During the sales process, my sales associate specifically told me in a text message that their diamond manager "does not tolerate visible inclusions" and that "if you cannot see the difference, you should not pay the difference." That assurance was a major factor in my decision to buy. Within days of proposing, my then-fiancée noticed a visible inclusion in the diamond with the naked eye. I reported it to the store within about a week of picking up the ring. What followed was several months of a promised "replacement search" that never actually produced a suitable stone. When I eventually asked for a refund, the owner told me over the phone that it wasn't possible because the ring would be considered "estate jewelry." Instead, I was offered a 110% store credit toward a future purchase, meaning I'd need to spend more money with the same store to fix a problem they created in the first place. Even written assurances from their own staff didn't hold up when it mattered. If you're shopping for an engagement ring, get everything documented, and understand that documentation alone may not protect you here.

However, when I went home that night, I realized there was still a loose stone in my ring. So I had to wait until Tuesday (they're closed Sun and Mon) to bring it back. He fixed it again for me (this time for free,) and took time to explain how my ring was built, and what may have happened to cause the loose stones. The woman had me speak to the jeweler. He was rude to her and to me yet agreed to do it and wrote it down on the receipt. The pearls when I picked them up were simply strung onto the gold chain. I was furious and disappointed, but polite. The woman there remembered me and knew he did it incorrectly. They still charged me full price and told me they'd fix it. But I would have to pay, again. He felt he did nothing wrong. Acted as if we'd never met. The pearl necklaces were gifts from my MIL and her funeral was that week. I didn't have time to wait weeks, again. Do not trust this jeweler. He will attempt to gaslight his employee & customer into thinking we got it wrong! Even when the directions are clearly written on the receipt. My husband went in once to have a necklace made for me. One pearl on a gold chain. An add a pearl necklace was the intent to follow along with a family tradition we have. The necklaces were begun at another, reputable jeweler that is 13 hours away. Husband was told it was a real pearl necklace by Hollands & they could add pearls later. Eventually the pearl broke in half, clasp broke as well. I brought it to Hingham Jewelers where my MIL began the add a pearl tradition. I was told this was not the appropriate kind of pearl, that's why it broke, and the chain had to be scrapped. Absolutely will never use this jeweler again. (Only giving one star due to the app not allowing zero)
