I was really excited about this place opening, but it was pretty disappointing. It's on par with many of the other Chinese restaurants in town (Fortune House, Peking House, China Wok)- and frankly, none of them are good. I apologize if you love those places; and if you do, you'll like this place, too. For me, it was way too greasy- the orange chicken was rough on my stomach. Everything I tried was just super Americanized. I will say that the inside is nice and clean- it's brand new. There are a handful of tables, and you order at the counter. It's an environmentalist's nightmare- even when you dine in, you use plastic cutlery, bowls, etc. Had to pay for bottled water, tap was not an option. I actually wiped out the plastic soup containers and took them home to recycle, I felt so guilty after my family ate because so much plastic was involved. This place opened very recently, so maybe some of these issues will get worked out (hopefully).

Chow mein according to Wikipedia, the entire rest of the internet, and every other Chinese restaurant I've eaten at.

Ordered chow mein and was given a huge pile of bland broccoli, onion, and celery and two little bags of fried wonton strips. When I called thinking my order was incorrect, they informed me that this is real chow mein and the kind with noodles like in the Wikipedia entry for chow mein and literally every recipe online for it, is "California" Chinese food so this is what I was stuck with.

Really good food, quick service, very cheap for lunch! Very filling; spiced just right. Laid back and chilled atmosphere.

The lunch specials are an incredible value--you get to choose a soup, salad, or spring roll as an appetizer in addition to your meal. I chose the egg drop soup, and I can honestly say it was the BEST egg drop soup I have ever had. It was flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit, making the experience even better. The ambiance inside is warm, clean, and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal whether you're dining alone or with family and friends. If you're in the Hendersonville area, do yourself a favor and check out China Cottage. Great food, generous portions, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

I ordered fried rice and I had eaten some of it before I realized it did not have bean sprouts in it. I called and she said to bring it back and I did. Upon arrival the return was scrutinized because I have eaten part not all of it. They would not replace the order and pretty much told me to leave without any outburst on my part. I was totally taken aback. I have ordered from this restaurant for YEARS but the way I was treated I will never return without any outburst apology. Not nice at ALL!!

Last week I was in Goodlettsville for business and I saw China Cottage in the same center. It was lunchtime and I went in to see what was on the menu. I opted for this dish that was mainly bell pepper, mushrooms, onion, a few scallops and sliced beef in a brown sauce. While it was tasty, I thought it would not stand up against any of the Asian cuisine I was used to eating in the San Gabriel Valley. I would return because it outshines any of the Chinese fare I have eaten in the White House area. I truly enjoyed my meal; it is just hard to measure up against where I came from.

I have a few go-to Chinese spots around town, but was in the immediate area recently and wanted to scoop dinner up, so I made a call to China Cottage and about 20 minutes later I had to goods. I ordered the classics of sesame chicken, house fried rice, wonton soup and an egg roll. All were tasty, not the best, but certainly far from the worst. Portion size is huge here, I mean they pack the containers to the brim. Food was also clearly cooked to order as it was still piping hot when I got it home and opened. Space inside is decorated as you would expect. They have a good size dining room with booths and tables, and even have a few seats at a small bar near the entry way. The place was clean, and well kept. Service was friendly and helpful from the phone to pick up. Overall, solid experience at China Cottage. Definitely worth adding to the rotation.

The prices are very reasonable & parking is not hard to find as it is located in a plaza with Kroger right next to it. Everything in the menu is worth trying. There is not a single thing I have ordered that I have regretted. When I first came here I would only order the seafood noddle soup. The flavor from that soup is something I have never experienced before and my taste buds have always been satisfied with that soup, but the more I go the more I try something new and each time I don't regret it! That's so rare for everything in a menu to hit?! Some other entrees I have tried are loved are the sweet and sour chicken, beef yaki udon, Thai basil fried rice, pad Thai noodles, and the Singapore beef mei fun noodles. The appetizers all are incredible too some of my favorites are the crab Rangoon's, coconut shrimp, scallion pancakes, and the shrimp shu mai. The Thai iced tea is a must here! I get it every single time I visit.

I ordered the coconut fried rice because I love coconut and thought it sounded delicious. Wrong. It was so bland and odd tasting. It wasn't so bad I couldn't eat it but I had to add some of my friends regular fried rice to it to make it enjoyable. Now on the veggie spring rolls. They're definitely frozen and not freshly made. I could tell because of how mushy they were. All in all it was a pretty disappointing meal. I think this place might be good for standard American Chinese but they missed the mark on the dishes I ordered. I'll stick with my usual thai spot for freshly made and seasoned food. I did takeout and the food was ready quickly... maybe another reason it wasn't good? Idk go at your own risk.
