We're still on the search for our go-to Chinese restaurant and China Moon might just be it. We ordered online with a nice spread of: large wonton soup, large egg drop wonton soup mix, chicken with mushrooms, boneless ribs combo, sesame chicken combo, and bean curd with broccoli. China Moon is tucked in a corner of a small shopping plaza and is easily missed because it is hidden. There's plenty of parking. Our order was ready within 15 minutes and sure enough, was waiting for us when we arrived. The employee was nice and offered any sauces to go with it. Our food was hot and the order was correct. The food was really good! It's been awhile since we had decent Chinese food. The only two things I wasn't crazy about were the soups (nearly flavorless even with soy sauce) and the fried rice (also flavorless). Otherwise, the actual meals were very good and everything was cooked properly. I especially favored the chicken with mushrooms. If we can't find something closer to us, China Moon is going to be our new place. The 15 minute drive is worth it for affordable and comforting food. read more

It is less sweet than the other Chinese restaurants. And has a few different items on their menu that we can't find elsewhere. We love the broccoli beef, lomein and tofu with vegetables. Still Americanized Chinese food but way better than a lot of these small restaurants. read more

Don't judge this book by its cover. China Moon is a great option for dinner on the go and it's easy on the wallet. The day after New Years, I was over cooking and cleaning a million pots and pans, so Chinese take-out to the rescue! We ordered a ton of food with the sesame chicken and the beef/veggie platter being the standouts. Each meal comes with a side of rice, so be-careful when ordering extra rice, because you might end up with 4 extra sides of rice like we did. Beyond plain white rice they offer chow mein, Lo mein and of course fried rice. The chicken chow mein was our choice and it was amazing! The portions here are huge and four plates of food could easily feed five-six adults. We ordered orange chicken, sesame chicken, beef, veggies and chow mein. With tip all of it was just over $50 and we had leftovers for a few days! read more

I probably wouldn't come for dinner but the lunches are a great value and a lot of food. Our favorites were the lo mein and chicken with mixed veggies. Really good Chinese takeout! The service is always fast and friendly, and the food seems less greasy than other places. It's a pretty standard, no frills place. We always just get food for takeout when we're feeling like an unhealthy meal will fit with the day. I like that they have vegetarian options, as well. The Broccoli with Garlic Sauce is my go-to. They're closed on Mondays. And, they're in the strip mall and the far end of Kroger. Plenty of parking. read more

Quick and served hot. We ordered appetizer of Hot & Sour Soup, side of Pork Fried Rice, entrees of Mongolian Beef (spicy), Szechuan Beef, and General Tso's Chicken. Each entree served with container of rice. Hot & Sour Soup was the tastiest of the whole order. Didn't recognize Mongolian Beef from anything I ever had before, and did not resemble the picture online. Wasn't particularly spicy. We're going to give China Moon another try. Quick service. Normally order from this place and it's decent, but this general tso chicken I just got is so old I can't even stab it with the plastic fork to pick it up. In my opinion, this is the best Chinese food in Mount Juliet and we drive from the Southside to pick it up and it's still HOT when we get it back home in 30 degree weather! This is as fast as it gets! I like that you can see straight into the kitchen and they have great big menus for you to circle your order on if needed. (Yes, have a Swedish person ordering from a Chinese lady both struggling with how to pronounce stuff that might be needed) A lot of guests order ahead for pick up too. The place itself is not really nice, it actually looks like a real, real Chinese restaurant. Spartan, torn seats and simple chairs, so I just bring my stuff home. Service is extremely fast, chop, chop and it's all ready to go! I always have been given good food, always get everything I order and the portions are big too. I've posted about Chinese food places before, and while I still think Chinese food in Nashville has a long way to go, China Moon is the best of what we've got in Mt. Juliet. It is certainly not worth traveling to come, as it is mostly take out and not worth an extra trip, but for local take out it is passable! The fried rice is delicious. And the spare ribs are tasty. My husband gets the chicken dishes and they are good. We once picked up a very large order for my extended family, and they threw in some sodas for free. First experience with this restaurant & I was really excited to try the lobster lo mein last week. Sounded delicious. Once I opened it, I was so grossed out because there Is no way that meat was lobster. I'm not sure what type of meat they're cooking in there while trying to make customers believe it's lobster . Safe, friendly, low price, and super tasty!! Amidst Covid-19 and the many restrictions placed upon us nowadays, China Moon in Mount Juliet has impressed me. They make sure they go out of their way to protect not only me but fellow customers and staff freedom direct interaction with one another. Great idea on plastic and walls and even the door to have it the food through. Prices are very affordable. Food is the best (IMHO) in Mount Juliet. Fresh and delicious every time. Is it me or is there always something quirky about every Chinese restaurant in America? China Moon (CM) claims to cook "Mandarin style, Szechuan, Hunan, Cantonese, and.... New York Style". Now, I realize that NY is a pretty big place but having studied Chinese cuisine I don't recall learning of the NY style. I will admit that CM has a unique style of Chinese cuisine but I digress... Whatever you call it I will say that it China Moon does a few things well. For one, there is a huge plus in my book when the food is cooked from scratch right in front of you. I will give credit to the Chinese chef who deftly substitutes authentic ingredients for the more common American grocery store list at the local Kroger. Hmmm. Maybe that's where the "New York Style" comes in to play. I discovered CM just a few weeks back and was so happy to find made-to-order Chinese food that I've returned at least 4 times since... OK.... I'll admit that their $5,25 lunch special was such a good deal that I returned almost every day for a week. Yes... you read that right - $5.25 for an entree and two sides. And the best part? The portions are pretty huge. I will often eat about half and then chill the other half for a mid day snack cause you know what they say about eating Chinese food. The first week I was there I got stuck on the Kung Pao chicken for a few days and eventually moved on to explore the rest of the menu including the Hot & Sour soup which I really loved. Technically the soup is not that difficult to make which is why I'm stumped that the other Chinese Buffet in town can't get the basics down. The key is balance, texture, and visual appeal. CM does a good job in that dept. Now don't get me wrong, CM is def not San Francisco Chinese and not even close to Chicago Chinese CM is a truly Americanized version of Chinese. {That reminds me of a Benny Hill joke...} One thing I miss about authentic ethnic cuisine in this town (and State) is the use of animal pieces parts. CM makes no excuses for using dark meat chicken. Yay!! Now if I can only convince them to bring some chicken feet and beef tendon to the menu my life would be complete. Generally speaking the food is pretty good - The fried rice is pretty basic and, oddly, very yellow but again what lacks in authenticity is made up with freshly prepared and still tasty dishes. The egg rolls are relatively boring but douse it in enough of the cheap soy sauce you get and it certainly hits the spot. The dishes that typically are heavy in vegetable have an unusual mix of said vegetables but... well... you know the drill.... Having been spoiled by some pretty damn good Chinese food in my life China Moon is by no stretch of the imagination stellar but given the choices around here, and the prices, you really can't beat this place. Show up hungry and expect a beat up, older, hole in the wall shop with cheap plastic wear and non-fermented soy sauce in cheap packets. The kitchen staff is skilled enough with Wok cooking and the front help has always been very pleasant and quick. The highlight for me has been the hot & sour soup. I taste peanut oil in the food so if you have an allergy you may want to call before you show up. Of course, if you have a peanut allergy you should know this already. While we're on the subject of the Chinese buffet up the street, let me just say that the best time to hit that place up is right when they open for lunch and on Sunday when the place is packed. Why do I mention this here? Because good Chinese food in this town is what they call "slim pikin's". China Moon was just added to my list of regular spots for their prices, freshness, quality of food, and convenience. Oh.... and because the food is delicious. If you're dining in for lunch allow yourself an extra 5 minutes for the food to cool down before it's palatable - isn't that a always a good sign? Sure it is. I finally gave into my Sunday craving for Chinese on Sunday. I ordered the dragon & Phoenix with some hot and sour soup. The broth was way thicker than usual which I didn't like, but three did not skimp on the amount added ingredients which was a plus.
