I came to this place on December closed to Xmas time it was my first time, they were so busy and they did the job so fast, I wasn't satisfied with the job they did, but I understood they were busy, so after a month not doing my pedicure because it's cold and I am not showing my feet, I decided to do it again, I took the polish that I still had from that time and I noticed my big toe nail was different color, and it was breaking , I realized it was a fungus, I was so mad because I didn't notice before, the polish was covering it. So I decided to came to this place and tell them, of course they denied it, she said that didn't happen there. I am writing this review so you can be careful if you come to this place, make sure the tools are disinfected. read more

I went here solely because I had a gift card (that doesn't expire until well into next year) otherwise I wouldn't have chosen Mingees in the first place. I just needed to remove my acrylic nails and get a pedicure, so I thought "oh well that's hard to mess up right? Plus I'm not going to have to pay much with $50 gift certificate" the woman removing my nails was very harsh, caused bleeding and I even had to pull my hand away a few times. Usually they soak my nails off, this woman just was prying them off my fingernails. The pedicure was alright, I got the nicest one they offer and it was as a quick scrub and mediocre massage. A woman leaving before me tried to use her stamp card. They said "sorry, new owner, we don't accept those". She tried paying with card and they gave her a hard time. And made her tip to Venmo. They didn't even have the massage chairs anymore. My service was done, I headed to the front and handed them my gift certificate. She immediately shook her head, I laughed, not surprised they were about to deny the gift card. Then they told me "sorry, new owner, we don't accept these." I gave her a strange look and told her that it still needs to be honored, it doesn't matter if you have a new owner." She had me talk on her cellphone with the owner, who told me "sorry, the old owner took all your money!" Super weird and unprofessional. Now I find out it's illegal to not accept gift cards, previous owner or not. Definitely not worth the $80. Don't bother, they're going downhill. read more

I've been coming here for years and since the change in Owners it has gone downhill. They upped the prices and reduced the services. The last time I was there my massage was a rub on each of my calves. Um what about the feet. And it's supposed to be a 5 or 10 minute massage, I'd have to look at what package I did, not 60 seconds. I have my regular girl, made an appointment a couple times ago and they put her with someone before I came and she was not available for me. Being that it was my lunch hour I could not wait and had to use someone else. That irritated me. I hate to go elsewhere but it's not as good as it was. :-( read more

My tech was good however the main lady was so rude and demanding to the other techs. Her attitude made me very uncomfortable. So many other places to go in San Clemente that I'll never go back. I went to this place for a basic pedicure. They were nice, offered me water, then the lady asked what pedicure I wanted. She handed me the 'menu' and it said the cheapest was $22. I said I wanted just a basic, whatever the cheapest was. Then she charged me $29 when she was done. They're not trustworthy and I don't recommend going here read more

My first sign......empty........ Now I know why.... Worst mani/pedi experience ever. Nails ragged after and couldnt even bother anymore explaining request to fix. No massage and had to complain and then they both re did but were very disgruntled. Didnt use timer. I think they took advantage of me talking to the lady next to me who was complaining about her polish re do of a French manicure...she came in after me. not a relaxing experience! they wanted the tip after they cleaned the nails, most places have you do that after massage. so you give graciously and get worst service.... will not go back which is so sad since its in ideal location. New to the area! I tried Mingee's for my first mani & pedi in San Clemente and I am glad I did! I had the pleasure to have Amy do the service for me! She was very sweet and did a beautiful job! I also love how close Mingee's is to shopping and restaurants so I can make a day around there. Have a Mani & pedi and then shop and have a lunch or dinner sounds like a good day to me. $27 gets you a basic mani/pedi in a nice clean environment. Ask for Annie or Angela, their English is good and they are really nice. Mingee's has 2 locations just doors from each other. We prefer the bigger one that's south, not closer to El Camino. We all know my people (Vietnamese) have taken over the nail industry, and if you go into it w/ adjusted expectations, you'll be fine. Yes, they are required to upsell, so just ask for a printed menu up front & choose the service you want. They might still ask you for an add-on, but say "no" firmly and they'll stop. Every friend of mine asks me if they are really talking smack in front of your face. They aren't. But it's a cultural thing for them to chatter in very loud voices and have a comment for everything! C'mon, everyone's got a mom, friend, or aunt that does that. It's just not as noticeable to you because it's done in a language you understand. These poor gals aren't making a ton of cash. So for $27, it's worth it to me. You can always pay a lot more, but is it worth it just for less chatter? read more

Waste of time, money, and space! I went to this salon with a group of four friends before a wedding--the offered us a "great" package that was supposed to include a spa mani/pedi, exfoliation, 15min massage, & some other treatment for $57. First I am not sure what made it a Spa mani/pedi and not a regular one--no bath salts, scrubs, or anything. The only exfoliation was that they sanded my feet with a nail file-didn't even use a pumice stone. Then they poured lotion in plastic bags and soaked my hands and feet in them. This actually felt good and really moisturized my feet, but they massaged with the bag on so the massage on you feet kinda sucked. The shoulder massage was the highlight! It was pretty decent. The lady argued with me over my color choice-pushing for the french manicure. So I gave in. The white was uneven and looked kind of lumpy. It just didn't look that great. At this point I just wanted to get out of there. I felt ripped off. I still gave the lady a $5 tip-which SHE COMPLAINED ABOUT! I have never had anyone complain about a tip. I didn't even want to give her that because of the service. Not to mention the polish lifts and peels off. Within two days my nails looked like crap! read more

First, I'm not sure why this place has received so many negative reviews! I was driving through town and needed an emergency pedicure! Honestly, Mingee's was the first salon that I saw. The staff is all very friendly and spoke English. I walked up and I was seated immediately. Once in the chair I was given a pillow to rest my head, and a bottle of water. So far I was impressed! I paid $33 for my pedicure which included a 15 min massage (I kid you not a timer is set to ensure a full 15 mins), hot oil treatment and a foot scrub. My feet were left super soft and lasted for a good two weeks. To say the least, I was very pleased with my service and will likely return when in town. read more

MANICURE / PEDICURE: - Woman cut my toenail back too far, making it bleed and it was sore for several days. - The woman who worked on my hands did not push my cuticles back at all, did not even pick up the tool that pushes back your cuticles... Isn't this fairly critical to a 'manicure'? - Pedicure tech didn't even rub my feet, just sort of squeezed my calves for under a minute. GO ELSEWHERE. read more

Two things really bothered me about this place: the upselling and the lack of drying machines. So, first off, initially it looks as if they have a killer deal on pedicures and then, out comes the menu.....and you realize that the advertised price doesnt even include the leg massage (or the use of lotion?!). Just dissapointing. While I was having the pedicure done, another woman was continually complementing me and then trying to sell me something...it was all rather bizarre and the first time I have ever experienced such pushy staff. The second gripe I have is the lack of drying machines (which I've noticed at a few places around town and that still doesnt make it okay). After the woman was done with my pedicure, I paid her and she started cleaning the station while I looked around and noticed there were no drying machines in the salon. So I was left awkwardly sitting in the massage chair waiting for my nails to, what, air dry? Who has time for wait for nails to air dry, I can barely sit through the one drying session with the fans. So I left with my toes wet and just decided not to come back. read more

Absolutely the worst salon I've ever been to. $30 gel manicure started lifting and chipping within 24 hours!!! Their technique is really subpar as well, cold lotion, cuticles not fully trimmed, gel up to the cuticle which is why it lifted. Based on location and price, you would expect this to be a decent salon so it's extra disappointing when it the worst you've ever been to. read more

Mingee nails has been great to my girlfriend and I over the past 2 years. We are always greeted warmly and never have to really wait. The manicure and pedicure are priced very well for the area. I also never leave that place without a foot scrub as I play soccer on the weekends. It's also very clean. They always throw away all their nail stuff after the treatment.
