This is the first time in my life that I have felt I was treated by not only myself but the staff. Stephanie is so personable and listened to what I wanted while building a connection with me. I'm only 13 and i have never had such a bad experience getting my nails done. I got a manicure and they lady that was doing my nails got up during my manicure and even messed it up and had to start over. She also blamed it on me. My grandma was getting a pedicure and she woke up the next morning and her feet were bleeding. My grandma has been going here for years but ever since the new owners took over it's been a circus. I have been going to Mingee's for several years. Went in today to find out it is under new ownership, and today I had the best pedicure and foot massage ever. Very disappointed, I could have done a better job, and what makes me more upset is that it's not what I asked for, my cuticles are more damaged and extremely red, I paid 55 dollars for a shit job and to top it all my nails are uneven and I can't get a refund. I regret this so much. read more

Came in as a visitor from CT and I would NOT recommend this place. $20 for a regular manicure that came out sloppy. My nails are crooked (I'll have to refile at home) despite telling the lady many times. At one point I grabbed the file and started to file myself, but she didn't get it. Beyond that, she sliced open 2 fingers with her "rough" filing technique. I told her it was painful, but I don't think she understood. I could've done a better job myself. She slathered oil/ lotion on my arms for a 1 minute massage total that left me feeling greasy. Limited color selection, lack of ambiance, and damaged fingers lead to a bad experience for me. read more

Went here with my grandma as a birthday treat and we both walked away feeling more tense then when we walked in. My nails were filed in the perfect shape, but the file cut my skin on 3 different fingers and one of my nails is already ripping in half just 12 hours after the manicure--not to mention the tiny cuts I have all over my hands. My grandma has sensitive feet and had a very rough pedicure even after she requested it to be more gentle. To top it all off, after reviewing the receipt, there was an extra $5 added to my grandmas pedicure for a service we didn't ask for!! Made a same-day appointment, came in and was greeted right away by the friendly owner, Stephanie. Got a pedicure done with Amy, who was great. She asked if I wanted upgrades, but wasn't pushy (which really irks me when nail technicians are pushy), and she did a lovely job. Spectacular service, best mani/pedi I've gotten since I moved to LA! I walked in, the place was full but I only had to wait about 10 minutes. As a frequent mani/pedi subscriber, I am very happy to note that this salon uses clean tubs, with fresh plastic liners, for all pedicures! Unlike many other places where they are attached to the chair and barely scrubbed down with a 3-month old bacteria infested sponge... everything is clean and orderly. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the services are vast, the color selection is impressive, and the prices are AWESOME! $26 for a mani/pedi! Have been going to this place off and on because the location is convenient. I had found a completed stamp called for 10 dollars off in old wallet, so I decided to go even though last time I went I disliked my nails.. I go in for a mani/pedi with gel. The women doing my finger nails was filling them so hard day they were hot and burning from the stander... I kept saying owe! And she kept doing it. Later on she is filing my nails so hard that they are bending inward! It hurt and was scary! Thought they were going to snap right there. I left and on the drive home two of my nails broke so close to my cuticle it is painful and they hurt to the touch!! I have never had my nails filedso thin before I can not believe I went back to this place ! Do NOT go here read more

My manager and a co-worker warned me not to go here but I wanted to give the place the benefit of the doubt so I went in with my husband and I tried telling them I wanted the dip powder acrylic nails but I'm the middle of me talking the lady turned and talked to someone else so they started a regular manicure and I told them I wanted the dip nails and they charged me for both. Also they cut my foot and my big toe looks awful because of the person who did the scrubbing. Also the guy who did my dip powder nails had no idea how to do it. First off, when he was glueing the fake nails on and then went to file them after, two nails fell off and he had to re-glue them. After everything was all said and done and I just had to let me nails dry after he used one of the electrical tools again and hurt my fingers with them he pulled my hang nails again and cut my finger pretty bad and then put the nail glue over so it would stop bleeding. He had to put another top coat on my nails because he did it all wrong to begin with and he didn't wipe all the blood off my nail and so I now have blood under the top coat of my white nails. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I ended up paying over $120 for it all and I was cut 3 times. If I could give them 0 stars I would! read more

I do not recommend. My friend lives with in walking distance to this nail salon. They have 2 locations on the same street. They have the same store front name so I'm not sure which one we were at. Either way we both had pedicures. Very low quality. You had to pay $4.00 extra for a gel to be applied to soften your heals and then they used a nail file to "exfoliate" also they trued to up-sell us every chance they got. Asking if we wanted extea time on leg massage (no thank you, not even sure we can call what we experienced a massage.. why would we want longer?) we left and laughed about it later. This place SUCKS! You go in for a relaxing experience and they badger you to buy more services in such an obnoxious and insulting way (you need lip wax!) it ends up being a stressful and guilt-inducing experience. What baffles me is while these women are clearly trying to make as much money as possible, their horrific behavior cannot POSSIBLY be good for their business in the long run. They may get you to spend more the one time you go there, but it sounds like most of us would NEVER go back. Repeat business is much more valuable than an extra 10 dollars for an eyebrow wax once. On top of that, the gel manicure I got was horrible. Messy at the edges, not enough coats, looks really bad. Literally the worst nail salon experience I've ever had, and i've been to many. I decided to try this salon even after reading all of the negative reviews. I'm just a pedicure gal, I don't get my nails done. Mingee's is serious about their pedicures, they set a timer for the 15 minute massage portion! My only complaint about the pedi is that the massage chair I was seated at did not work, well, it only vibrated, which wasn't what I was looking for. I let the gal know, but she didn't suggest that I move. the place was empty. Next time, I'll advocate louder for a working massage chair! Decent spot for a pedi, the best part is that it's right in the neighborhood and they're usually pretty empty. read more

I barely got a massage on one hand. ..the girl walked off to take care of someone else. Best mani pedi I've ever had. Stephanie spoke English perfectly and was able to relay my wishes to the rest of the staff for my daughter's mani-pedis as well. We all walked out very happy. I wouldn't say this one is "A-OK", exactly; but two stars just looks a bit too harsh. The lady who did my manicure, Yao, tried valiantly to get me to choose something more expensive than the $22 manicure I opted for - undeterred by a gentle but firm "no" several times. She eventually tried looking concernedly at my eyebrows and declaring that they'd been waxed unevenly & thus were in immediate need of her own waxing attentions. (No deal! - but luckily my skin is thick enough not to be too mortified by such feedback.) She was nice enough despite all the sales pitching (obviously required by management, so no hard feelings), but did keep leaving me at the table without explanation - to grab bits and pieces of equipment, it turned out. Polish job itself was average. The main problem was that no hardener or top coat was used, so the polish took aaaaages to dry and was already chipping and denting by the time I got home 20 minutes later. There appeared to be several different stations where polish is stored within the salon, and the one I was directed to choose from was a really hodge-podge selection - wish I'd had the confidence to ask for the top-shelf stuff which looked like it was available, but in a locked cabinet. I'll keep shopping around downtown SC - surely there are plenty of other places that offer a better service for less cash. I don't plan to become a regular here, and wouldn't trust it for "emergencies". read more

The staff's English is very limited, so even trying to understand what they are charging for is hard to understand. I pushed back when they changed the price of my jell file. This used to be 'the' nail place in town. Then they got too big and too many places. Management went down hill. As did the service. This location has the 'spa' seating. The original Mingee's is up the street. It is so cramped and almost dangerous for the senior citizens with all the different levels. Nowadays, the nickname for this place is Stingee's. read more

Amazing experience and service! This was my first time getting a pedicure and I brought friend and another couple. I thought I would be more timid and uncomfortable because I'm ashamed of my feet. I'm a runner and would not let anyone touch my feet. I don't have the nicest toe nails but I went ahead and agreed to get a pedicure since my friends were in town. As soon as I walked in, the manager or owner was very pleasant and welcoming. There were several empty seats, and he made sure that the four of us sat side-by-side which was nice. I warned to my manicurist about my feet and she made sure I was comfortable. I knew that she did not speak English very well. I told her that I just wanted the basic pedicure and she understood. My friends warned that some manicurists can by very pushy in terms of selling other services, but not this place. My manicurist took her time and didn't rush on completing my pedicure. Also, I noticed that this salon was cleaned, and the tools that was used were new and clean. I highly recommend visiting this salon. I like this salon. I just recently moved to San Clemente and tried to find for myself a nails salon which I can come every 2-3 weeks. I have tried a couple different ones but not satisfied with their services. Finally I found Mingee's Nails Salon right at the downtown strip. This is a very nice place. I had the best pedicure; my gel manicure has been lasted for more than 2 weeks already. The ladies who did my pedicure and manicure were very friendly and professional. I like the fact that they have menu for us to choose on services and there are many options on the list. I never been to any nails salon that have this kind of services before. The lady did my gel manicure spoke English very well; not like many other nails salons that you couldn't even understand what they were talking about. In addition, this salon appeared very clean. I will come back. Regarding to the upsell, it did not happen to me. I chose the service on the menu. The only thing that they asked if I would like any design on my toes nails.
