Dropped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the service and menu. I ordered from the sushi menu and Lori from the daily lunch specials. Both our meals were good with mine better than hers IMO. Once you look around you begin to notice the age of the restaurant. It's been awhile since it was refreshed and it needs it, too. Have eaten here several times and considered this place a favorite. Yesterday's meal for me and a friend was truly awful! Ordered the pork dumplings for an appetizer and they were stone cold and dried up .,, not edible' Sent them back , received another order , not much better they were hot , but still very dry . friends sweet and sour chicken was very dry and chewy , her rice cold ! Just not a good meal ! My spicy scallops were good , however there were only 2 scallops cut in half ... so definitely not worth the money !! They did comp my friend the cost of her meal . Service is good even on busy Thursday supper time. Though language is a challenge. Food is average. Wonton sticks for soup are bland and taste like paper. Ordered chicken with cashew nut and brown sauce. Was served white chicken steamed with garlic sauce. Noticed no cashews and told server. They brought replacement. I did not request white meat, so I expected diced chicken. Chicken was diced, but breaded. Have never seen breaded chicken used in chicken cashew nut dish. A regular stop for us, mostly for dinner and occasionally for lunch. Great menu, lots of options. Especially the section where you choose your protein, then select your preparation and style of meal. Always good. Service is personal and friendly. Take out is busy all the time. Parking is in the large lot of the shopping center. Their sushi, to me, is better. Have not experienced any off-putting smells as their seafood is well refrigerated and frequently replenished. And there is a small sushi bar where you can sit alone (or with another), watch the preparations and enjoy your own meal. I especially like this if I am alone for lunch. The do have room for groups, in the rear of the restaurant, so look at booking in advance. We have been coming here for over 13 years and the food, service and cleanliness remains unchanged. Went to dinner with 5 other people. I hadnt been here in a few years. We all sampled and shared the food. Prompt excellent service. Comfortable plain atmosphere. Food was tasty, but some of us thought all our dishes tasted bland. Most all food had the same coloring. Food was plated nicely, good portions and came out hot. We had teriyaki chicken skewers, chicken and broccoli, pepper and onion steak , sesame chicken, spring rolls, tofu and vegetables, vegetable fried rice, vegetable lomein,brown rice,eggs foo young, plain fried rice , egg drop soup and tea. The food tastes mediocre. We got the tuna all around to share and it was not worth the price. Does not fill or taste that good. Our fried rice was undercooked. We complained about the Mei fun not having enough salt and thankfully they redid it. The service was rushed. The lady taking the order seemed worked up and wanted everything done quickly from taking the order to clean up. Might do takeout since it's close to us but not do a sit down. Sorry. Not gonna recommend this place. Start off my dining experience with the waitress accidentally spilling a whole pot of hot tea from another table hitting the floor and splashing on me. The tables around us were not bust and remain dirty. The whole time we were there the food was moderately OK and did not taste as fresh as I thought it would be the waitress was nice and apologized. However, I think overall I would not recommend this place. It needs a lot of improvement. read more

After trying some very undesirable Asian dishes in the area, this was a nice compliment to a bad experience. The ambiance was very pleasant with jazzy tunes in the background and the servers were very attentive. I had the sesame chicken, brown rice with avocado cucumber rolls. The chicken wasn't drenched with the sauce and the rolls were made on the spot. read more

While I've always enjoyed food from this establishment, tonight I was highly disappointed and disgusted. While biting into my egg roll I realized I had a stringy substance hanging from my mouth. I did call the restaurant and the manager on duty was reluctant to provide her first name at first and actually had a nonchalant attitude. She then provided her name and offered to provide a partial credit. She was only apologetic at the end of the call. I will not be ordering from Ming Fu anymore. read more

very disappointed. We had placed an order to go through the phone, spent over $109 and asked for the vegetable lo mein to have no mushrooms in it due to a severe allergy. We found mushrooms in the lo mein and called the restaurant. The Manager Kelly was not helpful she insinuated that we were lying and said there was nothing they could do because it was packed and examined by a staff members including herself . They asked if we were sure it wasn't a different vegetable we were seeing . we explained that other family members did eat it and said those were mushrooms. While talking to Kelly i found another piece of mushroom in my food and explained to her I am looking at a piece of mushroom now. they said they would have to see the dish with the mushrooms in it. I explained to her that i picked up the order on my way home from work and i was not going to drive 30 minutes back to the restaurant. i asked if i could somehow send a photo to ensure them we are not lying . they said this was not a option . they would have to see the dish. it's very upsetting because we have been coming here for years and never had any bad experiences here and all we wanted was acknowledgment of the mistake. We are so glad that other family members were served first and noticed and tasted the mushrooms in the food and not the family member that is severely allergic. read more

I've been ordering from Ming Fu for years. Mostly through Door Dash. This evening I placed a $200+ order that included several sushi rolls. When Doordash arrived I had everything except my 4 sushi rolls. I called the store and they admitted that they "forgot" to give the sushi to the Doordash driver. Best way to order from this place is to pick up yourself so you can check your order before leaving. read more

Our goto for fusion Chinese, somewhat Americanized and very consistent for dine in before COVID. Also very good (not great) Sushi with a nice small bar to indulge with a view of the process. When the world goes back to normal we will be at the bar regulars again, but for now takeout is the normal. Mingfu is doing their best and we still frequent and enjoy at home. Service ok , nice building but there's a lack hygiene on silverware, interior, ceiling very dusty and full spiderwebs everywhere you looked, so that tells us a lot from the kitchen if the common area looks like that !! Maybe a surprise visit from the country inspector would be nice for all these Asians places !!! read more

Lovely Asian restaurant in Waxhaw. Greeted at the door and promptly seated. The wait staff are very cordial and brought my drink along with some crispy noodles and sauce to snack while waiting for my food. I ordered the egg drop soup and beef Udon. It as delicious. Both were very tasty and served hot. The beef Udon serving was huge . A takeout box was needed. I really loved the experience and food . Definitely will be back. read more

I'm new to the Waxhaw area and sushi is a must on my list. I ordered the Pick 2 for lunch through DoorDash. The app said it would be a 45-min wait. It was ready in 10! I know that's not going to be every time, but I was thrilled since I was on my lunch break. The pickup window was convenient and friendly. The spicy tuna and the shrimp tempura roll were excellent! Ok, off the bat, the food is overly priced for the quality of food you get, meaning that the food has been ok, it can be hit or miss. I know this location does a lot of business but it doesn't have that Asian cuisine taste that makes you think of Mingfu first when decided on what to eat. I think the reason this location does a lot of business is because of its location to shopping centers and large neighborhoods. I would drive an extra 10 minutes to go another Asian restaurant, spend slightly more because I'll be completely happy with my meal. The dining area is small and like most Asian restaurants, the lighting is low and the ambiance is normal. Nothing else really stands out about MingFu. The front end associates aren't customer service focused or at least they haven't been with me. It's mostly, ask my name, take my credit card and hand me the food. A basic transaction, I hesitate to recommend but if you live close by then maybe you'll have a better experience. read more

Mingfu Chinese restaurant is by far the best we've found! Consistently delicious! Always fresh and hot. Something for everyone in my family. From kids to adults, everyone is always pleased with their choices! Orders are quickly prepared and ready for pick up. Neatly packed. We always receive exactly what we order. Even our finicky requests! Since Covid, we've only ordered take out. I consider this a very clean and safe restaurant. The girls in the front are great! The cooks are spectacular! We eat here maybe once each week for lunch & once each month for dinner. We have rarely been disappointed with the food quality & service is always really great. 2 of us love sushi & the sushi here has always been amazing & very fresh. The 2 of us who don't do sushi love the gyoza, steak skewers, mu shu pork & some of the chicken dishes. They use different chicken for different dishes (some is deep fried, like the sweet & sour chicken when chicken & broccoli dish is wok-steamed). I do really like the fried chicken dishes as they use big chunks of white breast meat with a very thin batter that isn't 'gunky'. I did get the smaller/wok style chicken in a dish once & did not like it, lots of thigh meat & gristle. Chicken teriyaki skewers are great though! Service/staff has always been amazing, they go out of their way to make you happy....I promise if you don't like something AND you can politely let them know, they will fix it! My only 'wish' for Ming Fu is that they would do a deep clean on the place, tables & floors are very clean....but a glance up or around shows dirty cob webs & some of the walls have food splatter if you are seated next to one (ew). read more

BEWARE, 20% tip added to parties of 5 or more!!!! When did restaurants change from 18% tip for parties of 6 to 20% for parties of 5?????

Are they still doing the Covid 19 thing??? Has anyone dined there in last two years. My husband picks up our take out orders and I asked him if they were open for dine ins and he said he thought so. But reading here I wonder ....I miss taking my precious little Mom there for our lunches. It's been Way Over Two Years. I've taken her to all the usual places in Waxhaw and Monroe But Ming Fuvwas the one place I could take her and it be consistent with the menu and the service and ambience which she so enjoyed.
