So I tried this place yesterday. It was okay, I feel it has a nice design and atmosphere. The scenery was very nice and it has a cool concept. Their cookie display was very helpful and made it easier to see the size and design of the cookie. It really helped me and my family figure out which one we wanted. They also sell really good drinks I recommend trying those. They have frozen lemonades and Boba. I got the pineapple lemonade it was pretty decent. When it came to the cookies they looked very cool however they lacked flavor for me. Most of them tasted like plain cookies with no flavor in my opinion. Like they all tasted the same, it is like they taste doughy with no distinct flavor. Like air. It is still a cool experience and if you want to just look at the cookies then I would just do that. The flower wall makes for some good photos. And their drinks are still good. This is just my opinion of course you will have to see for yourself it may be just fine to you. Stopped by with my parents in the morning to pick up a few different options. Let's be real, you really only need 1 at most because they are so good, you won't stop eating them! That distracted me for thirty seconds. So I stuck to my lavender love. Then I saw the cookies. Seeing is believing that you need one in your life. These are some thick cut cookies. Mingos cookies are a little pricey, but you won't regret it at all. The cheapest cookie is $2.50 and the most expensive is $3.75. At Mingos they also offer milk Tea(Boba) and Fruit Tea, coffee, and lattes, but in my opinion they are a little pricey. The Milk tea comes in two sizes, regular $4.95 and large $7.15. This includes 1 or 2 milk tea flavors and boba flavors. If you wanted a fruit tea regular cost $6.15 and large $8.15. This includes tea flavor and boba flavor. Coffee prices range from the cheapest $1.95 and the expensive is $3. 25. One aspect of Mingos that I really like is they have a rewards program. With their rewards program you can get discounts and free cookies or drink as well. All you do is sign up for free and type in you phone number everytime you go. If you are apart of the rewards program Mingos gives you a free cookie on your birthday(Birthday Cake Cookie). Mingos has a very friendly and clean environment. When you walk in there is a couple of tables were you can sit at. When you get to the counter they have a display of all the cookies they have available for the day; which is very nice. Had my first bubble tea experience recently and had a craving for another so I gave this place a try. The shop is absolutely adorable! The smells when you walk in are heavenly. The staff was very helpful explaining which flavors are more sweet versus sour. I also love that there are two size options. I went with a raspberry tea with strawberry bubbles, and it was super refreshing! I also grabbed two cookies. A pumpkin spiced snickerdoodle and a Clemson cookie for my Tiger Fan husband (*sigh*). Found out about this place from a Columbia foodie group and thought I'd give it a try. My rating is based off the customer service, atmosphere, location, and for the quality and appearance of the cookies. The cookies were all great and very large in size. Definitely enough for sharing. As I entered the premises, I could tell I had just walked in on, and interrupted an uncomfortable bash down on the employees from what I soon found out was the owner. Once I entered, the harsh rant ceased. But after I ordered my stuff, I could hear the owner speaking in a demeaning and inhumane way to one of the employees in the back. This is 2023. I used to love coming to Mingos and always had a good experience with all the workers there. I especially enjoyed interacting with Mikey. Me and my friends would come in and it would feel like we were hanging out with friends. The only problem I have with this store is the way the workers are treated. A few times I witnessed the owner be very unprofessional and rather disrespectful to a few of the employees. Went to Mingo's in Irmo area for the 1st time today. Ordered a regular coffee with almond milk. Since I was the only customer, I could here an employees say, "We are out of milk". Response from other employee, "We can use powdered milk. My dad uses it all the time." Nothing said to customer (me) whether the substitution was acceptable. Since I never use non-dairy creamers, I asked employees if they had substituted almond milk for powdered milk and they said, "Yes, but you should not be able to taste the difference". I said I do not drink powdered milk and requested a refund. Employees said they did not know how to issue a refund. So basically, I paid for a cup of coffee that ended up in the trash. read more
