After considerate evaluation the enthusiastic reviews, I completed a bulky purchase of schezuan lo mein, chicken & shrimp pad thai, chicken chop suey, roast pork egg foo young, egg rolls & almond cookies. The almond cookies (which they claim to make there) are the only slightly redeeming aspect of this rancid & frankly disturbing encounter with "Ming's food."
--- The schezuan lo-mein literally was steeped in an ocean of sesame oil. Anyone acquainted with Asian cooking knows a little of that stuff goes a long way. Not here. The shrimp in this dish seems to have a distinct flavor of freezer burn, topsoil & filth--like it had been in a dirt-coated icebox for half a century.
--- The pad thai, I truly liked this just fine, apart from the presence of said shrimp from previous dish. The shrimp here still tastes like toadstool or moss. Foul.
--- The chicken chop suey was satisfactory at first because the chicken tasted relatively standard, however, on closer inspection it becomes evident that the "bean sprouts" are likely from a La Choy can. There is a heavy presence of corn starch.
--- Roast pork egg foo young was delivered charred on the outside, so the mediocre & bland insides tasted much like nothing. The pieces of roast pork inside of this were clearly old, burnt & hard to chew.
--- The egg rolls were respectable, but the outside of them was clearly a flour tortilla that had been deep fried in soybean oil. The cabbage inside was tender & flavorful. They tasted like a particular frozen brand.
--- Almond cookies, were sweet & delightful. No complaints there, apart from the absence of "almond flakes"
Moral of the story: Ming's carryout, having been someone from California that has lived all over the USA at one point in time and sampled just about every Asian place in southeastern Michigan, should be avoided. You'd be MUCH happier going elsewhere. This place is actually nauseating. I even was given a stale loaf of bread and an old container of white rice. The following day I attempted to ingest some leftover and uncontrollably gagged and had to heave it into the nearest trashcan. AVOID THIS PLACE. I don't care what the other reviewers say. They're probably robots or have accepted bribes. I'm serious. I haven't written a review in a long time because there's been no need. This is just... horrid. read more
