I should have gone with the Yelp reviews and ordered the chilaquiles. I, instead, ordered what I always order: over easy eggs and sausage ($11.99). Here, they serve them with Chef Mario's famous homestyle potatoes and toast. My sourdough toast came with the kind of butter that's already softened and has a whipped texture. I appreciated that little detail. My breakfast, on the other hand, was very mid if not kinda not good. The breakfast potatoes were soft and could have used a little more grill time. And the sausage patties were most likely of the frozen sort. The whole entree was very ho hum. Mini Cafe is mini. It feels a bit lived in and had the breakfast platter been average, the whole experience would be fine. I like a good, simple breakfast platter, and this fell a little short. Amazing spot. Saw a review saying they'd gotten the steak nachos for 15 years straight, and I see why. The woman working the register was incredibly kind, and walking in I saw two working dudes scarfing food down (always a good sign). So my fiancé brought me here a couple of months ago and I was very upset with him for gatekeeping this place from me! There isn't anything about Mini Cafe that I don't like. The staff is super friendly- and the food is amazingly priced for how good it is. I always get the Asada Tacos and when we come for breakfast I get the chorizo and eggs- I will be trying the chilaquiles next. The place is small and I could see if it was crowded it might be a tight fit but that does not take away from the pros. I was sad they got rid of their Strawberry Fanta but I'll live! lol we ate there today and I already can't wait to go back! read more

This quaint, little place truly is a hole in the wall. The first time I tried their food, I ordered takeout. I was surprised by how cheap the food was compared to other breakfast places nowadays. The majority of their items were under $10 which made me wonder about the portions as well as the taste, but I'm happy to report that it was really good. Not the most flavorful food I've had but it definitely wasn't bad and wasn't overly salty or anything. I didn't realize till I got to work that the chilaquiles doesn't come with meat so that was a bit of a disappointment but I didn't mind since the food itself was tasty on its own too. The second time, we actually dined in. I ordered the chilaquiles again (this time I asked if they could add chorizo) and my gf got their french toast combo. We also ordered two coffees that were a huge disappointment to us. It tasted nothing like coffee and tasted more like sugar water than anything. We asked the cashier if she could brew us another cup just in case, and it ended up tasting the same - watered down. Reluctantly, I asked if we could exchange the coffees for their orange juice instead since they're the same price, and the cashier obliged. Thankfully, the orange juice was a lot better - you could tell it was fresh-squeezed. My gf enjoyed her french toast and I was incredibly happy with the chorizo with my chilaquiles; it definitely added to the taste. Will be coming back here to try more items. read more

The portions didn't match the price, the breakfast burrito was the worst out of the 3 items ordered. It was Taco Bell size priced at almost $10, the filling was burnt and salty. The chilaquiles plate if anything was passable but would never come back. The beans were hardly there and nothing was added to make the taste better, no onions, sour cream or any topping. The breakfast plate came within sad overcooked scrambled eggs, one sad sausage patty and mediocre pancakes. Wish I would have gone to McDonald's the breakfast is cheaper, fresher and better served. Nestled deep in a corner of the shopping center I walked in and immediately knew it was a family operation. The inside is small and a little outdated but that comforted me to know the food would be good. I ordered chicken enchiladas and a steak taco. The steak in the taco was super juicy. Nice and simple but the meat was well cooked which made it good. The enchiladas almost reminded me of suizas and the way my parents used to make them. We came for a quick breakfast, and I'm so happy we did! The girls at the front counter were so sweet & had wonderful customer service skills. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my daughter got a side of eggs and potatoes with sourdough toast, with an apple and an orange juice for us to drink. Everything came up to $24, and we enjoyed it. However I went back a few weeks ago for breakfast and can't say it was my favorite. // The chorizo bfast burrito was ok, didn't have much flavor considering how much food was in - however they give you a side of some pretty good salsa (I also added salt & pepper) //The french toast? Bleh, I can make better french toast at my house, made on thin normal pieces of bread, not like texas toast or anything. - no flavor (syrup & butter helped heaps!) The prices are super cheap though! I've become so accustomed to paying @ least $10 per plate in LA, but here you can snag 2 bfast meals for about $10. I'm not itching to come back here unfortunately.
