The combos are a must because of the creamy hummus, buttery rice, roasted tomato and jalapeno and lavash. And good god the garlic sauce outdoes any Mom's-type stand at the farmers market. I had heard about this place for years and had such high expectations, but sadly was so disappointed. Underwhelming and small portions for the price. The $27 combo plate consisted of 2 small overcooked pieces of pork, two small pieces of chicken and about a half skewer of ground chicken. Beef shish kabob plate was 5 chunks of flap meat kabob marinated only in black pepper for $32. The plate sides had a solid grilled tomato and jalapeño and some plain rice and overly garlicky hummus. Cash only, with one table, so basically just a takeout spot. As a Persian, I know my kabob and I would prefer to pay less for twice the amount of food and have a dining experience at a restaurant like Raffis down the street. Or even Zankous is better. I love Mini Kabob! Even before COVID, I always end up eating in my car because it smells so good and I want to have the food fresh. Their hummus is always creamy and well seasoned, their rice is buttery but not heavy, and today was a treat as I ordered their eggplant caviar and falafel. No surprise, these were exceptional as the eggplant was creamy with a ton of flavor from the bell pepper. Falafel was crispy with lots of texture! I typically get the beef lule any chance I get so that's what my default order here is. I've been getting the chicken cutlet after my doctor raved to me how good it was, which is a mix of chicken and pork (?) with herbs and fried so there is a crispy outside. It's fantastic! Always get a side of garlic sauce :) I also have to say that the man doing everything is the best. I can't remember the last time we went somewhere or did take out and I can honestly say it was 10/10 but mini kabob exceeded all expectations and then some. What insane flavor in everything! My boyfriend was in Glendale and we've been meaning to try this place so it was the perfect excuse to grab food from here. He is also 50% Armenian so even more of an excuse to eat from and support a local Armenian owned restaurant. Armen and his parents run this place and they do an excellent job. It's a tiny place that does takeout only but just wow. It's not cheap but it's also not expensive for the portions and quality of food. All I can say is mini kabob is an absolute must and well worth traveling to Glendale for. Came during Friday lunch and only a quick wait before we ordered the chicken and beef combo to share between 2 people. The meat was smoky from the grill, cooked perfectly juicy. Rice was buttery and I could have honestly eaten it alone. The grilled tomato and peppers were great accompanying items in between bites and the hummus/garlic sauce were both amazing. With all that being said, I still gave this place 5 stars because the owner is super nice and the food is just so damn good. If you LOVE any/all eggplant dishes, do yourself a favor and order their EGGPLANT CAVIAR! So good, excellent seasoning, perfectly smoky and pairs great with everything on their menu. I devoured this right away and would drive back for another order, thats how good it is! While the eggplant was the star, everything else was mouthwateringly good. It is $10 bucks too expensive IMO and really worth $16 at max considering their beef is cooked in pork fat. Hummus didn't have much flavor.
