Plate Chicken plus Chicken Lula Kebab

We get takeout from here a lot. Open till 1 am and they cook everything on charcoal! It's SO good and they give you a good amount of meat. We always add an extra half portion of stuff. Everyone has been very kind and friendly, small business family owned shop with lots of different folks helping out. There's an area to eat outside and a couple tables inside, but to-go is always good. They have a drink fridge stocked full of stuff. They used to have this beet salad that was SO good. We just went today and it was crossed off the menu, please please please bring it back if you see this!! Tried to make it myself tonight and it did not turn out quite right. Definitely come here whenever you have the craving for some delicious kebabs.

SO YUMMY! Best hummus I have ever tried. The family is so sweet and ready to help with any questions. Me and my husband absolutely loved the food. Small cozy restaurant with fresh home cooked food. You can taste the love in the flavors. The rice was fresh, the chicken flavorful and hot off the grill. The side of grilled seasoned veggies was amazing. Great portion sizes. The hummus and pita came with the meal. We are obsessed. A must try. Plenty of street parking.

Tried this place on a whim and will be back. The beef lula kebab was delicious. We found the chicken lula to be a little dry. I asked for garlic sauce which they gave me but it's actually not garlic sauce..it's a tzatziki sauce which was still good.

I stopped by for a quick bite for lunch. I was greeted with a nice smile by the owner. He recommended the beef lula wrap. He explained how he prepars it, starting with beef wagu, seasoned onions, parsley, tomatoes, and a little butter, then wrapped in a lavash. It was delicious!! The place has 2 inside tables, well air conditioned, but outside seating is also available. Prices are very fair, good service, delicious food, and clean. Stop by and support this family owned restaurant. I'll certainly be back. Thank you.

Ordered two of the standard dinner and two of the vegan dinner and it was a lots of food--we ended up taking about 4 boxes to go at the end of the meal, definitely come hungry if you decide to do the set menu. My personal favorite was the falafel and the baba ghanoush, especially with the pomegranate seeds which provided a nice brightness. I appreciated the variety of flavors across the different appetizers and plates. Had the choice of coffee, hot mint tea, or hot black tea to close out the meal which helped with digestion. The space is lavishly decorated and it was busy throughout, while likely also was the cause for slower service. Street parking wasn't too hard to find as it was still early for dinner time on Sunday.

We ordered two of the carousel plates with four different meats: beef, veal, filet, and chicken. The beef and chicken kebabs were super flavorful. It paired deliciously with their rice, roasted veggies, and cabbage salad. I also love their crispy thin pita chips. I was not a fan of the veal liver as it was too gamey for me. Overall the food was really good and the portion sizes were great. Drinks: 3/5 The drinks here were not that good. They were a dollar or two higher than your regular bar. However, the taste was mediocre. Their hibiscus Paloma was very bland and a little watered down. Service: 5/5 We came here on a Friday night at 7pm, we had a reservation and got seated pretty quickly despite it being quite busy. Our server checked up on our table often and our food came out pretty fast. They also gave out some bread, cheese, veggies, and olives while we waited for our food. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is lively and feels a little upscale. They have an outdoor seating area as well. Overall, I would come back here for the food, but maybe not the drinks.

TLDR: Hear me out, if you have any doubt about chicken being less superior to beef or other meat. TRY the chicken thigh here. It makes justice for chickens (I still need to try their beef or lamb tho) I was running errands in Glendale today and I was starving and looking for lunch spots around. Turns out Mini Kabob was 3 mins walk away, it was a no brainer, my feet just took me there. Didn't expect to go there, so didn't order ahead but I'm fine with waiting. After last time's magnificent chicken thigh, I was determined to try their other entrees. However, Armen said the chicken thigh is the best seller out of their entrees- well, time for a round 2 I guess? This time I'm eating the entree at the spot and I just gotta say- IT SLAPS!! I'm genuinely not a big fan of chicken, because when you can choose beef why chicken? But this chicken is so juicy, so tender, so heavenly. Yummy!! The garlic sauce is great but the hummus and the fresh lavash, h o l y - f. Last time it was already so good even as a leftover, and eating it right at the spot is just transcending. I also tried their Armenian pear soda, it's delicious and refreshing with the heat right now in summer. I left with my tummy happy and their service is always great, they get busy but still no attitude, no bs, gives the right recommendations. Even this is like a take out restaurant, it still surpasses most of the kabob restaurant. Without doubt I'm coming back again after their break, please be there. I love you mini kabob

That's not all, tip will also be requested when checking out. Our Visit: My family and I have visited Elena's before and had a good experience, which is why this visit was so disappointing. This time, we noticed a clear drop in food quality, portion sizes, overall service and an unexpected new surprise on the bill. I came in with my wife, our two young children (10month old and 2 year old), and my mom. Unfortunately, the pita bread was stale, a portion of my wife's chicken was undercooked, the portions were noticeably smaller than before, and the server completely forgot my mom's drink. Those issues alone were frustrating, but what really stood out were the added fees at the end, fees that were not charged in the past. We were charged a 20% "large party fee", along with an additional "service fee". When I spoke with the owner, he explained that their system automatically applies a large party charge to any group of 4 or more people, including babies who don't even order food. That threshold seems unusually low, especially since most places consider 6 or more a "large party" and from my experience typically don't consider babies 2 years and younger as occupants. Even more concerning, none of these fees were clearly communicated to us beforehand. Being surprised with multiple charges at the end of a meal feels misleading and leaves a bad impression. To add to that, after already including these fees, the payment process still prompts customers to leave an additional tip. I've only seen this type of fee structure at higher-end restaurants and for more people, not at a casual spot like this, and even then it's usually disclosed upfront. If a business is going to charge extra, the service and overall experience should reflect that. My recommendation for Elena's, if you want to make more money, just raise your food prices so your customers at least know how much they're going to spend at the end. Not slap surprise charges at the end and force your customers to pay. On a positive note, at least they were playing Fast and the Furious on their TV. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BILL. Please be aware of their shady business practices.
