The bread was so fresh and perfectly delicious, and you could really taste the freshness of every ingredient. Everything came together so beautifully and the flavor was incredible. Been meaning to check out this yellow food truck-especially since I work so close by- and finally made it! It's located in the Verdugo Dairy lot right across from KFC and Smart & Final. You're given a buzzer when you order, and my sandwich took about 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered Nicko's Favorite. It is huge, that's why they cut it into two, loaded and definitely shareable. Bread is fresh and filled with mortadella, salami, pistachio, mozzarella and arugula. Could use more sauce/glaze, but nevertheless every bite was delicious! The staff were friendly and seriously some of the yummiest sandwiches. Nickos Favorite is now our favorite lol. WOW!!! I had finished with an appointment around the corner and I was hungry so I peeked at Yelp to see what is near by and I came across Nickos Sandwiches only 0.2 miles away! I drove for a few seconds around the corner and parked on the street and walked over to the Verdugo Dairy lot which is where the Nickos Sandwich Truck is located. The truck is so cute and small and fits perfectly in the lot without taking up too much space. I looked at the menu and honestly all the sandwiches looked so good that it was hard to just choose one, but I wanted breakfast so I went with the Plain Breakfast Sandwich. I was asked how I want my egg cooked and I chose sunny side up. Options for cheese were swiss or provolone and I couldn't decide and I was able to get a slice of both on my sandwich! I also ordered a bread pudding on the side. After ordering I was given a little buzzer that would go off when my food is ready. I hung out and didn't wait too long until my buzzer went off and it was a nice loud beeping that would be easy to hear if I had left it in my pocket. After the food is ready then you pay. When I went back to my car and I couldn't help myself I ripped open the bag and I was in awe of my sandwich. Look at my photos, do you see that melty stretch of cheese that is so perfect??????????? The brioche bun is soft and fluffy, the egg seasoned with salt and pepper perfectly and cooked to perfection, and the cheese is stretchy and gooey and so delicious. Was I licking the wrapper when I was done? Maybe! If I could give more than 5 stars for my sandwich I would! I love me a banana pudding and I thought I was going to wait to eat it at home, however I could not control myself I popped it open and I gobbled it down. Nickos is legit. Got the turkey pesto and the Cap and both hit. the bread somehow still had a crunch even after an hour drive home, which never happens. We were recommended to try this food truck it is a food truck parked in front of an Altadena drive up dairy. The food truck is tiny but the sandwiches are large! One sandwich is enough to feed to two people or one person over several meals. The bread and ingredients are fresh and tasty.These are great sandwiches. Interestingly enough, I've never been to Nicko's. A friend on the west side told my wife she was bringing over the best sandwich ever and we had Nickos favorite dropped off for us 40 minutes later. Now considering this was made in a food truck, driven 40 minutes, and sat in a bag smelling up the foyer while we exchanged pleasantries and gifts, it's pretty incredible that this still ended being my wife's favorite cold cut sandwich period. I can't say anything about service or ambiance since I've never seen this mythical truck, but the sandwich is fantastic. So quick thoughts... Nickos Favorite - Really well balanced sandwich that's tastes really fresh for a deli meat sandwich. My wife says it reminds her of a Caprese in sandwich form, and the combination of pesto, ricotta, mayo and balsamic combine perfectly. The meat is much less salty than I would expect of deli meats in general and it works with the other ingredients. Both of us loved the bread. Thin, crispy, works really well here. The pistachio shavings were also a great touch. Now the prices may not look cheap, but they actually give you a lot of sandwich. The picture i took here is only half of the order since my wife destroyed the other half while making happy noises. We're actively looking for excuses to begin the area now so i can try new things and she can keep eating this one. Definitely worth a try if you haven't already. read more

Wow! This place is legit and deserves the almost perfect star rating. Nickos Sandwiches is a food truck located in a liquor store parking lot. I'm not sure if you can park where the liquor store is but we parked on the street! We decided to share a Philly roll and Nicko's favorite. We decided on one sandwich off the cold and one off the hot sandwiches section. We received the Philly first and it was terrific! I wanted to gobble the whole thing. I love the bread, meats, veggies, and cheese in this sandwich. It was great but didn't feel heavy like other Philly sandwiches. The meat they used was ribeye and the cheese melted well with it. Next, I took a couple of bites of the Nicko, it felt more on the lighter side and refreshing after the Philly! There was a lot going on but I like it. The bread wasn't thick and the ratio of ingredients was the right amount. This sandwich was big! I also love that they wrap the sandwich in two so it was perfect to share. Note: I would call and put in your order because we were quoted 20-30 minutes wait but it was only around 10-15 minutes. The bread was fresh and just the right thickness to hold it together without being too much. It had a little crunch, without your bite not squeezing the contents out. This location is a food truck with parking located around the corner where it's stationed at. It's a very casual place but the quality of sandwiches is top-notch. I ordered the Veggie Sandwich ($13) and the Bourdain's Favorite ($19). I appreciate the soft texture of the brioche bun with the simple aspects of melted provolone cheese and griddled mortadella. I just got in town from Texas and needed sustenance because I hadn't eaten much all day. I googled restaurants near me and this sandwich truck came up. After seeing a few pictures of the food, I immediately put in directions to head over. I didn't realize I was looking for a truck initially so I passed it up . I was tired. I walked up to the window and ordered, the gentleman taking my order was kind and informed me that it could take up to 25 minutes because they were working on a big order. I told him no worries and sat in the car until my buzzer went off. Service was fast and great. It actually didn't take long at all. I might have waited 10 minutes which was great because I felt like I was starving. I ordered the turkey pesto and it was delicious! The flavors all work together beautifully and I've never had a sandwich with this style of flat bread. I wanted to try the Niko's lemonade but they sold out. So I'll have to remember to go back the next time I'm visiting. Ambiance is to be expected. It's quiet but on the corner of verdugo and Wilson (I believe) so the only noise you'll get is cars passing by. 10/10 recommend. The had quite a few great looking sandwiches. This is hands-down one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. I'm incredibly picky, but this spot has officially earned a place in my top tier of LA delis. I tried 'Nicko's Favorite' and was blown away. Nickos favorite has a green sauce and a heavy douse of balsamic and the acidity isn't cut anywhere in this sandwich. The stacking of the ingredients are also in an odd arrangement and the moisture from the mozzarella just makes all of the other material lose focus.
