The meat and veggies are so so fresh and juicy, the hummus and garlic sauce are to die for, and the cherry on top is the welcoming family that runs the place. My brother and I went for lunch one day and ended up becoming friends with the owners and the other 2 couples around us. Eating at mini kabob is a magical experience. I found this place through Instagram because the food looked amazing, and it definitely didn't disappoint! If my Armenian dad (who is usually critical) liked it, then you know the food is good lol The service was extremely kind and hospitable and made us feel comfortable! If you've never been, you may be surprised at how small the place is...pretty much 2 tables and a counter area. However, don't let that fool you...they handle everything just fine...greeting customers, fulfilling orders and making great food. We got lucky and got a parking right in front of the restaurant. Mini kabob is a mini restaurant with 3 tables and 8 chairs. The kitchen is located right next to the dining area so you can see the action and smell the food while it's being cooked. Ordered beef shish kabob and chicken shish kabob. Beef shish kabob ($12.99): The beef is tender, tasty and charred. It's the best shish kabob I've ever tried. Chicken shish kabob ($9.39): You have the option of either dark or white meat. My dark meat chicken is juicy, flavorful and charred. I don't know if I like the beef more than the chicken because both of them are fantastic. Foodgasm :-)~ You also get lavash bread in a basket wrapped in clear plastic. It comes with super garlicky hummus. The chicken comes with garlic sauce-similar to Zankou garlic sauce but not as thick. The service is great. The sweet lady asked me if I was cold, reminded me to cover the bread so it wouldn't get dry and thanked me for waiting. The husband asked if everything was okay. They were so adorable and I saw both of them smiling and peeking from the kitchen while watching the customers eat. I've decided to adopt them as my Armenian grandparents but they don't know it yet =P They'll realize it later on when I start visiting their kitchen more often. It has an open kitchen layout which is great because you can literally see your food being prepped and cooked less than 10ft away. The staff is so very nice, and they work hard to make your food taste great. They made my experience feel like I was part of the family. I believe I got the combo and shared with a friend of mine. The combo was enough for two people. It comes with tasty beef luleh, juicy pork tenderloin, and perfectly cooked chicken thigh and breast. served alongside rice, and a few grilled vegetables. We also the dips as well which are all also made in the restaurant. The hummus, yogurt, eggplant caviar, and their garlic cream (which is great with the chicken). After visiting a Los Feliz Mediterranean joint and finding the chicken to be not so flavorful, it brought to mind this place because the chicken here is quite flavorful and quite delicious and I've been meaning to review it so here it is finally. I met up with fellow Yelper Nathan W. We had been planning to grab a bite in this area and he suggested this place. Being the Mediterranean aficionado that I am, I readily agreed with his choice. Mini Kabob is a little hole in the wall in Glendale which definitely is named correctly because the place is extremely tiny. It was voted Best Hole-in-the-Wall in Los Angeles by L.A. Weekly and it definitely deserves that accolade. Upon first walking in, you wouldn't think much of the eatery with its cramped quarters but they managed to fit three small tables inside. You practically order over one of the tables with their seated patrons which is kind of hilarious. I ended up ordering the chicken kabob plate with a mix of dark and white meat the same as Nathan. I asked if I could have a double portion of salad to replace the rice portion and they said that would be okay except they would have to charge me a little extra. Really? Most places wouldn't charge extra but well, fine. We are all unique in our own way, aren't we. As I was ordering, I saw the "mom" of this mom and pop busily roasting the kabob skewers over a flaming pit. No sautéed meat at this place. Nathan and I were fortunately able to nab a table and as we waited, pita bread and hummus were placed before us by the "pop" of this mom and pop. The first and best Armenian feast I've ever had! Mini Kabob is a hole in the wall located behind the plaza with Poke N Roll and a ramen spot. There are only two tables inside, and the rest of the place consists of the kitchen. Upon walking in, it felt very homely as the owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. My friends and I decided to order the combo plate with one of each meat, and it came with hummus, garlic cream, eggplant caviar, tabouleh, and lavash. The food was made to order and came out within 10/15 minutes. The spread was GORGEOUS, and everything tasted even better!! We got steak, chicken thigh, chicken breast, pork, and chicken lule (ground chicken). The chicken thigh was my personal favorite as it was extremely succulent and tender, but all the other meats were just as amazing. Everything was grilled right, and the side toppings were off the hook! I used the lavash (similar to pita bread but thinner) to spread hummus, garlic cream, eggplant caviar, tabouleh (similar to salad), and a piece of meat. There was even rice to pair with the meat, and I literally destroyed everything in minutes. Talking about my meal here is making me super hungry right now, so I will stop here. They also have an armenian pear soda straight from Armenia that reminded me of apple cider but better- I would recommend ordering that to drink with your meal. What makes Mini kabob amazing is not just its food, but the also the owner. We arrived 25 minutes before closing not knowing that the last to-go order was to be given by 7:30PM. But the pop declared, "you're new, I'll do you a favor, you'll be very happy!" He was direct with us and went straight to work on our 5 orders of the Mini Kabob plate with his wife. He push together two tables in the tiny hole in the wall restaurant and insisted that we get comfortable. We were very awkward since we felt like we were inconveniencing them. They looked tired and it was closing time. We asked him to prepare the orders to-go so that he could close shop and go home. He was grateful. As we left, he handed us pear cider and water "from the mountains" to dilute the sugary drink. It was a wonderful "welcome to my store" gift that I thought was very valuable. As we left, we agreed that it felt like we were at our friends' house in the presence of their parents/grandparents preparing us food... even though they were tired from a long day of work, they wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. It was humbling. This man has such a big heart. He is the type of person that would invite you into his home if it's pouring rain and you have no where to go. The hummus that accompanied our dishes is coarse but creamy and is topped with olive oil and aleppo pepper. A small basket of lavash was provided. I was in no rush to try it out considering that my quota for awesome Armenian/Persian delights had been filled 6 years earlier by Raffi's Place. Looks like a spot just opened up! Everything you've read and heard is true! This tiny hole in the wall, with a whopping 3 tables, serves up some of the tastiest, most satisfying food I've had in a very long time. I know this is cliche, but it tastes homemade. Everything on my beef and chicken lula combination plate was infused with flavor, freshness and, quite possibly, love. This little eatery is owned by Hovik and Ala, a husband-wife team who greet every customer like a son or daughter. Hovik tends to the front house duties like offering suggestions, bringing drinks and changing the channel to more appropriate TV fare for diners. Noticing our youthful appearance, he quickly switched from a Russian Armenian soap opera to MTV's "Pauly D Project." Sh'norhakal em, but we would have preferred the Russian movie. While Hovik chats up the customers, Ala's preparing magical hummus. I know what you're thinking. Hummus is hummus, right? Wrong! The hummus here is amazing and delightfully different in texture and flavor. Again, no other way to say this, but the hummus was like crack and I was hooked. I had their Luleh kebab which was mixed in with some pork fat, and I'm telling you this is the best kebab I've ever had in my life. FYI: The address is actually 313 1/2 Vine Street (that 1/2 part is actually important), so when you see a mini plaza drive past it and it's the first building on the right side. On my visit I ordered the eggplant caviar (amazing side dish) and a beef leluh plate, which came with hummus, rice, beef, and grilled veggies. This is an absolute gem! It was literally run by a mom and pop. We felt like we were in their living room while they served us food. They hung out with us, watched some Pawn Stars, and had a great experience. The food is another level than what I've had elsewhere. There is a foldable sign in the front of the restaurant that says "abierto/open" to help you locate the restaurant. The restaurant is very intimate in which the dining area was approximately 150 sq. ft. Choosing to eat inside, the restaurant owners casual greeted us. The gentlemen complimenting my beautiful partner and ensuring a quality dining experience at his restaurant. A buddy of mine had recommended the chicken breast which to their experience was indescribably juicy and succulent; however, we opted for the combination plate instead. While waiting we were given complimentary lavash accompanied by hummus that was absolutely smooth and packed with so much garlic (i'm a huge garlic fan). Combination plate: Came with three kinds of meat (chicken thigh/breast kabob, a ground chicken kabob, and pork kabob). All three dishes were succulent, packed with so man hidden flavors and juicy beyond imagination. I really was caught off guard and had to tell my friend how i never should have doubted him about this place. The plate was served with a garlic purée that was an excellent compliment with the chicken and had a very nice citrus note to it as well. During our experience my lady had brought out waters for us to drink and was quickly reprimanded by the owner on how unethical it was to bring waters to a restaurant. This went on for about 5 minutes and honestly made me uncomfortable but I then ordered a cider that was quite refreshing. Overall the food alone is enough to come out to glendale for the food. Awesome spot!!! I'm not that often in Glendale so I spent 1hr looking for a good shish kebab in Glendale. Don't make your decision by the fact that it is a small place and there only two tables inside. Meat is just delicious!! Freaking ridiculous, the cook and everybody that works there is super friendly! The food is amazing, awesome place! We went to Mini Kabob pretty early, and while we were waiting for our food, the cook gave us a sample of their homemade garlic sauce that was freshly made that morning with some Lavash, the garlic sauce was absolutely amazing, words cannot describe the taste of this sauce, you MUST get some of this when you decide to eat at Mini Kabob. I got the combo, it comes with lavash, rice, lule, chicken, pork, hummus (sex), grilled tomato and pepper, everything was perfectly seasoned, and everything tasted amazing. It feels good to eat here, because you really get your moneys worth. Ever since I ate here, I don't think I can go to any other Kabob restaurants....this place tops them all. Rice is plentiful, the lule, chicken, and pork was cooked to perfection, the hummus...oh man...the HUMMUS! Again, words can't describe what I'm feeling right now as I write this review...
