Put Mino 2 in the cross between a dinner and a sit down restaurant. The interior has a dinner feel. The place is small and clean. The furniture is not overly comfortable but in good repair and clean. The place doesn't have many attractive decorations to enhance the interior. However it will do. Perhaps the thing that turns you off the fastest is the marked up and whited-out menus. This is very professional nor very attractive. It lowers the expectations on what I should expect for the meal and service. On this evening there weren't many customers for dinner. I assume they have a stronger breakfast crowd than dinner. There was one waiter who was very friendly, professional and really hustled. There seemed to be several people in the kitchen. Though the food did come out very slow. We started with an order of onion rings. The basket was plentiful and the rings were pretty good. The ring didn't have a consistent size or thickness of ring. The breading was thick without much detectable seasoning. The ring was only mildly greasy. Overall...a decent ring for a decent price. My side salad was very fresh. There aren't many side items to this salad - very basic but good. It was a decent size for a side salad. The house dressing had a stronger taste of balsamic vinegar and oil. The dressing was good and had a nice accent to the salad. For an entree I had the Rahm Schnitzel. The pork was nicely cooked and moist. The gravy was very smooth and thin. It didn't have much of a creamy taste but more of a meat taste. The gravy didn't really stick to the meat much but you oh could mop the meat in it to get a bit more moisture. Mino 2 also has German and Italian offerings in addition to a big breakfast menu. You simply can't find a place with German food in the Fort Wayne area. Give Mino 2 a try. read more

Stopped in for supper 5-22-23 and the service and food were excellent, all the food coming out of the kitchen looked GREAT!! We enjoyed this location in the past when we've been in town, so happy to see it's still the same great place!! NOTE: Sadly breakfast is only served to 2pm now. read more

The food was very good. The four of us all had dinner from the German Menu. The service was good. The restaurant is not a fast food restaurant. The waiter told us that our meals would take 45 minutes because there was a big party ahead of us. We were fine with the time and we pleasantly surprised at the delicious meals. First visit to Mino II. Got an omelet, and a side of gravy with fried potatoes. The gravy was flavorless, the toast was soggy. The potatoes were very crispy and the omelet was delicious. Very cute place, and wonderful staff! A group of us filmmakers from L.A. came here and we had to go back a second time because the food was so delicious. This was our first time there. We were just in Cincinnati for a few days and went to the Hofbrauhaus in Newport, Ky. Mino's was every bit as good if not better. We had the tortellini, jaegerschnitzel and a pancake for our young one. Outstanding! The service was prompt and attentive. We will be back. Too bad this little gem is not in Fort Wayne! There aren't many non-chain restaurants in NE Indiana, so my grandma and I really wanted to like Mino's. But, unfortunately, wanting to love something doesn't automatically make it something worth loving, and that was the case here. The German dishes on the menu weren't explained at all, and the sole waitress serving approximately 8 tables seemed busy/stressed enough running back and forth with no air-conditioning (it was out that day, poor her) so I didn't ask her to explain them. I wasn't feeling like Italian, and the salads looked pitiful, so that left the breakfast-all-day section of the menu, from which I ordered an omelette and hash browns. It was ok. Quite oily (buttery?) which wasn't super appetizing, and a bit too much cheese. Nothing special. My grandma went for the lasagna, and was not impressed at all. And it doesn't take that much to impress a 92-year-old who eats frozen lasagna dinners every Saturday. There was an awful lot of ricotta, mysterious pieces of ham and bacon sprinkled in, and the only tomato sauce was on the top of the whole affair. She called me a few days later and read me a glowing review of Mino's from the paper. "Doesn't this sound amazing?" she joked, "we should really check it out." So, clearly opinions differ, and perhaps we would have been better off with German dishes. But I don't think we'll be rushing back anytime soon. read more

3 stars for the literal yelp meaning "A-OK!" Do not judge too harshly on this oddly placed restaurant with outdated decor. The staff is friendly, the food was delicious. The only problem that I had was that the menu lacks valuable descriptions of the selections and could dissuade customers from ordering their german items. The waitress didn't offer any help to clarify. The german food was surprisingly good (we judged it would be bad based on the awful soup--it was horrible.). One member of our party order an italian entree and was quite pleased. We were too full to order dessert, so that's a good sign! Given that all the authentic german restaurants of Fort Wayne have disappeared, this is a great option to get your fix. We'll hit it up again when we get the hankering for schnitzel or schweinebraten. I wish they had proper kartoffelknodel (potato dumplings) instead of potato pancakes. read more

I actually wasn't expecting too much because I'm not a huge fan of German food BUT I changed my mind with this outing. I ordered the Mushrooms, German Potato Salad and Kroketten. The Potato Salad lacked the usual Caraway seeds which was a big plus for me.....I HATE Caraway seeds. The Kroketten was fried perfect although I should have asked for some Sour Cream to go with it. Matters not because we got so full that they went home in a doggy bag. My Husband ordered the Jaegerschnitzel and Spatzel. Both were served with a pleasant presentation (pictures posted) and after trying a small sample of his meal he almost didn't get his plate back. I have NEVER tasted Jaegerschnitzel that good in my life. Atmosphere was bright but personally I would lose the TVs and add more German decor but that's just me. The restaurant was clean, great temperature on this hot July afternoon and the waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. We'll be back to try Breakfast next time. read more

I grew up in NYC and I am somewhat of Italian food snob. The owner actually understood my broken Italian. I did not expect this in Garret, IN. Authentic German food is added bonus. This place is a gem. I should not rate this place too high for the fear of attracting crowd from Fort Wayne but the owner of this place deserves to thrive. read more

The food here is absolutely worth the drive. Sampled from all entries of our party. The spaghetti ice cream was a fantastic end to the meal.

I have tried this twice since they moved next door to more open space. Chose Cordon Bleu first time due to German potato salad I wanted to try, loved it as well as the meat. My omelette was excellent and flavorful, no need for my usual side of salsa. They have beer/wine license and hopefully have gotten through red tape of changing location. Plus a beer garden will be coming soon accessible through door to north side of building. Can't wait to check that out. read more
