We ordered from the Minsky's Lawrence website today for delivery. We've had good experiences with your deliveries in the past, so we were looking forward to another good meal. Our order was placed at 5:00 PM, and the receipt indicated an estimated delivery time of 45 minutes, which was perfectly acceptable. However, the food did not arrive until 6:09 PM. While we understand that Chicago-style pizza takes longer to bake, arriving 24 minutes past the estimated time was disappointing. More concerning, though, was the poor quality of the food. *The side salads were fine, except the croutons were stale. *The Toasted "St. Louis" Style Breaded Cheese Ravioli appetizer was cold. *The Chicago-style pizza was also cold and tasted like day-old leftovers. We ate only 2.5 slices and threw out the remainder of the large pizza. *The New York cheesecake was delicious. However that wasn't enough to save the meal. Unfortunately, this was a major letdown compared to our previous positive experiences, and it makes us hesitant to order from Minsky's in the future. I'm the past, we have always been pleased, but this experience was far below your usual standards. Delicious pizza every time! Minsky's was always a classic for our family going back to the early 80's when we'd get surprised that dad picked up dinner (from a location that isn't there anymore). The pizza was a special treat, and in all these years the various Minsky's I've eaten at have had consistently good pizza, food, and service. I went on a Friday night during the summer. School was out so the place was pretty much empty. I ordered a regular crust pizza with a couple toppings. I ate it. It's sad because it was so good in the past. And my intentions aren't to put a place of business down unnecessarily. I've been to this Lawrence location a number of times. I wanted to give a shout-out to Eliza. I've worked a lot of food service in my life, including as a chef, and I know a good worker when I see one. Every time I'm in there she's directing traffic and making things happen. Always busy, but always willing to stop to help a customer out at the register. She's a great ambassador for your company, and definitely somebody I'd want on my team in a restaurant. read more

Have had Minsky's many times. Pizza is fabulous so we had a 45 minute break in a class downtown so we thought we'll get a pizza. Seated immediately, order taken promptly, drinks brought out. So far so good. And we waited........ We even asked how long it was going to be.... Then the Waiter came back and told us he never put the order in. Manager never came out. I placed a call in order at 2:50 pm on 12/22/23 and the website stated 45 minutes. After an hour and 15 minutes I called and was told they are running behind. After several numerous phone calls later. I was not allowed to speak to the manager nor given the option for a refund. The girl answering the phone first told me there was no mangers at the restaurant then changed her story that he was working in kitchen. I hate being lied to and told my pizza was on the way. The pizza was finally delivered after 2 1/2 hours! Terrible customer service. They should have stopped accepting delivery orders if they know they can't keep up with the demand. We had a party of six, so we opted to order a couple of appetizers and and two large pizzas. These Two large pizzas and two appetizers, still resulted in left overs to take home. Pizza would be my last meal on Death Row. I love pizza. The worst pizza I have ever had was pretty darn good. Minsky's, though, is on an entirely different level of good. Minsky's is like Pizza Heaven. I am not ashamed of the fact that I order from Minsky's way more often than I should. I have only been to the Massachusetts Street restaurant on a few occasions. Minsky's is my indulgence and I want to eat this glorious pizza in my cozy home, savoring each bite. I use Minksky's pizza as a my "treat" and I am so okay with that fact. lol. The delivery service is fast but not super How-Did-They-Do-That fast. I always get suscipious when pizza delivery takes a short amount of time. Minsky's has just the right amount of wait time. The delivery staff have always been courteous, professional and customer focused. Tey are also always nicely groomed which is a plus. Some pizza delivery staff have not put grooming high on their list of priorities. The thing about Minsky's is that the ingredients are fresh. You can taste the freshness and non-frozenness of the ingredients. There is also no such thing as skimping on a Minsky's pizza. They load the pizza up with your desired toppings. It is such a fantastic taste and the combinations they have are superb. You can order one of their specialties or create your own, like most other pizza restaurants. You can also have a specialty pizza made into a calzone. The calzones are just as delicious as the pizza's and just as fresh. The calzones are HUGE. They are just loaded with yummy ingredients. I have had several of their salads, as well, and have never been disappointed. Everything I have tried on the menu is very good and delicious. Treat yourself and eat Minsky's. Stopped in after a lengthy trip and quite starving. I'll say upfront, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and we got WAY too much food. That said, I was in the mood for some fried ravioli, and my daughter wanted mozzarella sticks, so we got both...probably our first mistake. We had also been wanting to try the special KC Joe's BBQ pizza, and the large size didn't look big enough (second mistake) so we also got a small five-star cheese, which was our third mistake. Service was a little slow getting our drinks, but my Left Hand Milk Stout was very good, and at $5, a good price too. Had it come out sooner, I easily would've had a second. The portions of the apps for $8-9 didn't seem like a good value, but they were more than enough. Ravioli were good, but the mozzarella sticks seemed like they might've just been from a bag of frozen food. They were good, but not the best I've ever had. Before coming close to finishing both apps, I knew we had ordered too much food. Pizzas come out, and I know there's going to be leftovers. The BBQ specialty pizza was very good. The meat was tasty, and you could tell it was special BBQ. The sauce, cheese, and everything worked. My daughter, especially loved that one. I agreed it was better than the cheese, which didn't wow me. The only downside to the pizza was that the crust was chewy and a little too spongey for me. I feel like it was more well done last time. All in all, a pretty good meal, granted....way too much food. However, there were leftovers for days, and who doesn't like leftover pizza? read more

I'm surprised some of the reviews are so low. We visited some friends in Lawrence this weekend and they ordered pizza from Minskey's for dinner for all of us last night. It was amazingly good pizza. We had one with bacon strips, the only one with any meat for the evening. The one slice of bacon per piece was perfect, as the fat from the strip spread out over the slice. We also had the Margherita, possibly the fanciest of the three. It was wonderful. And lastly, there was just a plain old cheese pizza...and that was likely my favorite. My wife and I had to force ourselves to stop eating after five or six slices, as we didn't want to seem like pigs in front of our hosts. Now...the other reviews might be cracking on service, or ambiance, or maybe some of the other items served on site at the store. But for carryout pizza? I thought this was simply great. If we had stuff this good back home it would go to the top of the list of places to order from. When we return to Lawrence we'll no doubt hit this place again. read more

Once upon a time in an older version of the city this was the downtown Pizza Hut. In decline for longer than it should have been, it mercifully shuttered a few years ago and after remaining unoccupied (or was someone else here briefly?) it was reborn as Minsky's, a Kansas City based restaurant chain with pizza in the name but plenty of other options. The sad old decor reborn with a fresh look, a new bar that is attractive and inviting. A nice selection of adult beverages available including some of my favorite seasonal beers on tap. Two thumbs up. Service was surprisingly good. The walls are decorated with what look like original oil paintings that are pleasing to the eye and contribute to a great atmosphere for dining. Nicely done. But... then there was our pizza. Good grief. In a city overrun with marginal pies--hello, this is Kansas after all--our reluctance to stop in here for a meal for so many years was sadly justified. NOTE: I dined at KC Minsky's for years in the 80s and enjoyed them. Bland and awful, both in appearance and taste, and not properly prepared. I'll call price a fail because why address it when food is this sub-par? Let's review: small Combo Jumbo: Pepperoni, American and Italian sausage, hamburger, green peppers, mushrooms and onions. Topped with mozzarella and black olives. Pizza dough/bread: dry with little taste, not seasoned properly and appeared pre-baked and then sat and dried out. when it's not worth eating then it doesn't serve well as a delivery vehicle for meats and cheeses. Meat: *if* there was one single ounce of meat on the entire pie--doubtful-- then it was superbly hidden. We saw a few specks. What meat was visible had clearly sat too long and dried out, had no taste. Cheese: a hulking mound of sub-par tasting goo coagulated into a single mass that slid clear off the slice upon a bite taking all of the ingredients with it. Vegetables: undercooked onions and peppers, overly dry mushrooms, I'll just guess from sitting too long. Pretty hard to screw up a pre-sliced olive so... no comment. Behold the saddest experience in pizza in a town with sub-standard pies and slices. Not an easy achievement. read more

I don't really know how people are calling this pizza. This is really a larger version of a Lunchables make-your-own pizza, warmed up. The crust has that chewy texture that's almost identical to that small, soft-cracker disk you'd find in those white plastic containers. The cheese wasn't melty or ooey gooey--it was like a small layer of cheese brick. Similar to when you eat leftover pizza and it's still semi-cold from the fridge. The taste was lacking and there wasn't much crust to enjoy at the top. I'm a ranch dipper, so naturally got some ranch. It was probably worse than the Lunchables pizza crust. It was watery and did not add any flavor. It truly was remarkable how bad this pizza was. Like they were trying or something. The only reason they got two stars was due to a delivery sooner than expected. Do yourself a favor and just go to your tried and true Pyramid Pizza. read more

Went here for dinner on a friday night. They have a pretty nice ambiance and they have limited outdoor seating as well. We were seated immediately and the staff were super nice. Hubs ordered for a beer which I felt was little pricey. Here are the stuff that we ordered Baked cream cheese pesto dip - This came along with the breadsticks and was absolutely amazing. Loved the bread which had a nice texture because of cornmeal. Nature's choice Calzone - It tasted good with artichokes, zuchini, onion, mushroom and almonds. Fettuccine Alfredo with veggies - Sauce was good but the only veggies added were bell peppers and olives. Would have like some more veggies. The only flip side was that there was too much bread and it all tasted the same. Not a bad place to eat at but I don't think I will go back again. read more

I love Minsky's pizza, but wow they have been struggling with accuracy. The last four times I have ordered Minsky's pizza the pizza was missing an ingredient. The first time I chalked it up to a mistake and didn't complain. The second time I called and got a $7 credit applied for future use. The third time I spoke with a manager and explained that the same ingredient, peanuts, was being left off the Thai pizza that is supposed to have peanuts. She was very polite and apologetic which I appreciated. She explained that the peanuts are put on the pizza after the cheese and must have been forgotten. She refunded my money for the pizza. I have since given up ordering the Thai pizza because I don't want to pay full price for food that is missing an ingredient it should come with. Sooo, the fourth time I ordered the Nature's Choice pizza. Guess what? It was missing the almonds that were supposed to be on top. Ug! Their local manager in Lawrence named John does a great job and goes out of his way to make sure everything is to the customer's liking. My daughter has several food allergies and they do a Gluten free, Dairy free pizza that is actually pretty tasty. I had a recent order where a miscommunication happened and they made me another pizza without hesitation.
