The only con I would say about the office is that the waiting area is very small, but this really isn't an issue if you arrive on time and that there is no delay from prior patients. it's pretty typical for New York sized offices, I would say so, not too much of a con. I've never had to wait longer than five minutes for my appointment. scheduling is really easy, and the give great reminders in advance. They had great protective gear during the pandemic, and took the extra effort to keep patient safe. I doing as much research as possible, given a very unknown disease. Dr. Vincent actually went and took the extra effort to get an additional suction and vacuum unit to keep patients and staff safe. Highly highly recommend.

Some unique aspects of the practice is they offer Saturday hours, which is something I really appreciate. The only negative times I had at this place was when I was a child many years ago. I had a female doctor who just hated me for no reason. She refused to have any tact when telling me I had cavities, and cemented this feeling of insecurity in myself that still resonates. There was even a time where she wasn't my primary doctor for a day, yet she asked the doctor who was caring for me if I had cavities. When that doctor told her yes, she scoffed and rolled her eyes. I'll admit that maybe I wasn't the best at dental hygiene, but doctors like her don't help their patients improve by humiliating them. That kind of blatant behavior pushes people away from dentists because they grow fearful of their harsh judgement. With all that being said, I hadn't seen her since and I like to think it's because she was reported and fired from that company. Every other doctor I've had has been kind and considerate of my feelings. I'll never forget one who comforted me when I had yet another cavity, even though I worked really hard to prevent it. He said that as a child, he too had a bunch of cavities because his teeth were naturally sensitive. That was when I learned I had sensitive teeth myself. So when I had friends that bragged about never having cavities even though they never brushed their teeth right, I could at least find solace in the fact that I was born with a disadvantage and I truly did all I could to stay healthy. Aside from customer service, the lobby and offices are very clean. There are two kiosks where you can do self check-in, although when I arrived they weren't working. Still, it's convenient, along with the many comfortable chairs you can sit in while watching TV or reading magazines. They also have a restroom at the end of the hallway and you can use an elevator to reach the 2nd floor where they are located. Lastly, they do accept payment out of pocket and without attitude. I felt the need to express that for those struggling getting dental insurance. Plus, with my bad experience in the past, I became hyper aware of people's emotions and words. I recently lost my insurance, and I feared that paying without it would set me up to be mocked, but that never happened, and for that and more, 34th Street Dental's service is healing my self-esteem. My teeth look AMAZING and I'm proud of them!

She put me on antibiotics...but the office did not call it in to the pharmacy. It took 5 phone calls, several excuses, and more than 3 days to get post surgical antibiotics! Additionally, they provided the surgical consent forms AFTER the procedure was done. Now I need to get the stitches removed and they have rescheduled me several times and then only left me with an option that is terribly inconvenient for me. Doctor OK, but support staff makes the experience terrible!!!!

You can watch movies and relax while your teeth get cleaned. I did try another place that was closer to me but the service wasn't the same and I was pressured to buy Invisalign. It definitely made me come running back to Dr John and his beautiful wife Maria and it was wonderful to see Valerie again! She remembered a lot of details from my last visit and is just a really nice person. Dr John made a night guard for me (because I grind my teeth ) that's lasted for years. They don't pressure and guilt me about fluoride treatments. I trust them. I was told I had a cavity at another dentist and I think they were just trying to drill. I've never had that experience here- it's so important to find a dentist that you trust and I've found that with Dr John. Everyone at Soho a Smile is helpful and caring and I've brought my husband there and will bring my daughter next time! It's a great location with the highest level of service. She was noteably annoyed trying to explain to me that the periodontist doesn't do cleanings, which I already understood. I'm still not clear why she was getting so frustrated but I found it to be a really rude and impatient response in general, but especially to someone who she already knew had high anxiety around being at the dentist. She put her hand up and closed her eyes in annoyance, and told me she was going to get someone else to talk to explain things to me. When she left I decided I was not going to continue the appointment with this kind of person and I got up to put on my coat. As I was doing that I heard her in the other room say, "please teach her." Which, made it clear I was done with this office. If there was any problem that this woman should have been upset with, it's internally. Speak to the person who made the appointment. Maybe they were confused. I was direct when I told them I hadn't been in a while and I needed a cleaning and an exam. Standard. Don't take your frustrations out on the patient. So rude, so unnecessary.
