I'm sorry to say that I've decided that Mint is not on our "go to" list any longer. We routinely order delivery direct from the restaurant. Usually for 3-4 people. The delivery is always prompt and the people are very nice. However, the quality has been in decline. For years it has always come hot and fresh. The last three times have been warm-ish and the soups have been bland (both hot & Sour and wonton). The fried noodles that come with the soups have been very stale as well. Since they advertise themselves as "Asian Fusion", I ordered some Paneer Chicken Curry (medium spice) and Hunan Beef (hot spice) Both came with white rice. The egg drop soup was sadly bland, it had no flavor and was served in a small take out Styrofoam bowl. The hot and sour soup had more flavor. The drunken noodles nor general tso were not spicy at all. The general tso could have been crispy but still good amount of meat. Spring rolls were great! From the outside, Mint Chinese & Thai Cuisine doesn't look like much, and that unpretentious vibe continues when you walk in. The space is simple, with basic tables and chairs and minimal décor. But what it lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for with warm hospitality and great food. My friend and I were welcomed by a friendly couple as soon as we arrived. Since we were the only diners at the time, we chose any table we wanted. Our food came out quickly, and the service throughout was attentive. We started with the Roti Canai (one piece for $4.00), served with a side of curry for dipping. While it was advertised as spicy, the curry was more savory than hot. However, it was still flavorful, and the flatbread was soft and easy to tear. For our entrees, we ordered the Tamarind Shrimp and the Assam Pedas, both generously portioned at $14.95 each. The Tamarind Shrimp leaned on the sweeter side, and the shrimp were tender and juicy. The Assam Pedas, a Malaysian curry with string beans, red onion, tomato, and pineapple chunks in a tamarind sauce, had a satisfying spicy kick. I discovered Mint recently and am very impressed by ingredients and portion sizes. The coconut chicken soup has good amounts of chicken and mushrooms in there. Better than most places. What really made me write this recommendation was their customer service. We ordered 7-8 things from there yesterday. When I got home, I realized that while most of the order was correct, there were spring rolls in place of my wife's crab rangoons. We were just discussing that it's no big deal and I received a call from the store. She said that she made a mistake and either come get the crab rangoons right away or any of our future trips. Came here on a Sunday evening when I was craving Thai food. The chef is Malaysian and they serve, Thai, Chinese, and Malaysian food, and everything is Halal. I had the spicy garlic eggplant and added tofu. I also got the roti canai. Both were tasty. Service was a little off bc everyone was in the kitchen or on the phone so it would take a minute if you need something. Ordered for takeout through Door Dash and they do their own deliveries (so you can't track it). I didn't know that restaurants still put menu flyers in mailboxes but lo and behold! However the first thing I noticed is that the paper menu does not match what you can order online. I didn't love the coconut chicken soup. Very little chicken and barely any depth of flavor. The steamed shrimp dumplings were okay as was the pepper steak. My bf enjoyed the Szechuan chicken although it had an overwhelming taste of celery. Guess business was good because they were out of rice. The gentleman in front of me only asked for a little rice so that I could get the remaining scrapings...and scrapings they were! The rice was hard and just not cooked well. That's the one thing you expect to be cooked right...the rice! The Sesame Chicken was the star of the meal. The spicy basil shrimp was just ok. Nothing at all wrong with it, but was seriously lacking in spice and flavor. The ingredients were certainly fresh though. So yes, overall, it was about average. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! I would definitely recommend these dishes. The panang chicken was a watery no flavor entree that was somewhat saved by the brown rice. The coconut soup was thicker than the entree sauce but it was too heavy on the fish sauce and lacked the cilantro/lime tang. The best part of the meal was the steamed dumplings. Good place to order the Malaysian favorite curry laksa. I prefer it to some of the other restaurants that offer this dish on Buford Highway. The chef was originally from Malaysia. We have ordered take out there on 2 occasions. The first time we had the pad Thai and the Singapore noodles. The second time we got 2 servings of the Singapore noodles, as it was by far our favorite. Ordered the Masaman Curry and Basil Fresh rolls on a whim for lunch takeout. No avocados in the masaman curry despite it being in the dish description on the menu. It's pretty bland and...dry? Can't quite describe it. The upside is that it is filling and there was a generous amount of shrimp in it. The fresh basil rolls were yummy, but only 2 pieces of shrimp opposed to the average 3 (I'm a fresh roll fan lol) and FULL of noodles. Way too much noodle! And could've used more basil, but that's just me. The saving grace was the sweet peanut side sauce from the rolls-- delicious with the whole meal, especially the curry. For $25.00 after tip though.. I prefer sit in because the food is more fresh and less dry. Ambience: In the restaurant itself it has a nice ambience. I've eaten here about 5 times, mostly with friends. Good for a casual dinner date, nothing fancier. Service: Served with not much waiting time - everyone that has served me is very friendly and makes sure you have what you need. Food: I usually go for the Thai food, which is good quality and portions are large enough to be doggy-bagged. Lunch is cheaper prices and I would say would make the food worth it. Dinner is $2-3 more expensive for dishes, but it's not amazing Thai food, as the dishes taste very similar and doesn't have a savory enough flavoring of typical Thai spices for me. It does satisfy cravings though. I've had the sushi there once as well - this was a bit disappointing and I wouldn't order it here again. That isn't to say that I wouldn't go back though - this is definitely one of my go-to Thai places close to the area where I live (walkable). My fave: Emory students get free thai iced tea! However the sugar level is intense so make sure to ask for less sugar level, unless you have a big sweet tooth. read more

We use to LOVE this little restaurant. We always preorder and pickup our takeout. When my husband arrived to pickup the order I placed, an older man behind the counter insisted they hadn't received it. After several minutes of explaining to the man, then back and forth calls between me and my husband. My husband showed the man an email receipt I sent him. Suddenly, a lady from behind the curtain appeared to say "oh, your order will be ready in 20 minutes ". My husband was infuriated, hungry to say the least, and was treated incredibly rude with no apology given for their mistake. I love these hidden gems! Mint is just another testament to the value of Yelp and word-of-mouth. I'd otherwise probably never consider trying this place just b/c of its sketchy location. The food was really very delicious. My friend & I decided to get the "Assam Pedas" (Malaysian) and the "String Bean Beef" (Chinese). I liked that both dishes tasted very different from each other, one slightly sweet, the other slightly spicy, and both having very tasty flavors ... almost addicting b/c it was really hard to stop eating. Yep - we cleaned it up :) FYI - the "Assam Pedas" has chicken, pineapples, and okra cooked in tamarind sauce ($9.95), and the "String Bean Beef" is pretty self-explanatory :) I know next time I probably should try something different but this stuff was so good I could see myself ordering the same thing. The egg roll was just average. The inside is pretty old but they added some touches to make it not look so old. The inside can hold about 30 people but it would be tight since the interior isn't that large. You're greeted by a hostess who is nice but isn't very good at her job. I've ordered from here a few times, and have always been very satisfied with the food. But this most recent delivery from them was a little disappointing. I got the steamed prawn dumplings and Thai curry puffs as an appetizer, which my wife and I super enjoyed, but then the Pad Thai we got to share was watered down, overcooked, and bland.
