Kwetiau goreng ( Stir - fried flat rice noodle with meatballs, eggs and bean sprout ) DELICIOUS! Must to order!!

This location has recently relocated from Tucker to Doraville. Ibu's Kitchen currently sits in the old Bun Factory space. The noodle dishes here are pretty solid with taste and portion. I've had the kwetiaw before, and it's still a solid choice. Perhaps the portion might have shrunken a tad. I counted, and there's three or four baby shrimp throughout the whole dish. Tsk. Tsk. I guess we're in an inflation era... The hubs' pick of the nasi uduk komplit was sort of sad looking to be honest. Our friends who frequent this place a couple of times before said the portion used to be a little more generous. As for taste, it was good nonetheless with each of the 'little' variety of things. I was particularly fond of the tofu, or was it tempeh. Either or. It was delectably flavorful. The other item which looked like a fish cake of sorts was also interesting and tasty. As for the chicken, it had good flavors but lacked the visual appeal and quantity I dare say. Since this was the main protein, having one drum stick was very disappointing. If you come here on a Saturday, they apparently have a "buffet" which the hubs said you can actually only fill one plate full. Then doesn't that defeat the purpose of calling it a buffet?! There was no clear advertisement of this so okay...

Everything we got was super delicious! I really enjoyed the rice rish, though it looks simple it was definitely packed with flavor. From spice, to sweet and savory. I really enjoyed the bakso malang as well. The beef balls were chewy and addicting. And there were two different kinds of noodles, loved the different textures. This place was more of a self serve than sit down service. The space was clean and spacious with a store on the side that you can purchase your favorite Indonesian snacks from. Overall, I enjoyed the dinner here.

@ibukitchenatlanta is the newest Indonesian establishment on Buford Highway. They offer very authentic Indonesian dishes. Atmosphere is homey; the owners are kind. We ordered the 2 dishes below. The restaurant also offers buffet lunches and they sell goodies inside the restaurant as well. They're still in their soft opening phase so please come support! Kwetiau Goreng - stir fried flat rice noodles with eggs & vegetables. Similar to Thai's pad see ew but maybe on the sweeter side. Pampano bakar rujak - grilled fish over spicy sauce. Very good. . . . #indonesian #indonesianfood #kwetiaugoreng #bakarrujak #pompano #fish #grilledfish #supportsmallbusiness

Went with an Indonesian friend, got the Bakwan, kwetiau, and Gembira. Everything was delicious and she described it as 10/10 authentic :)

Street food fare is in Atlanta area., love the batagor and Indonesian siomay with peanut sauce, everything were delicious

Laughably small dinner sampler. This was like 4 ounces of food for $19

I love Buford Highway and I love Indonesian food. I was so excited to see this open! Unfortunately, it's just not very good. Almost all of the dishes are bone-in. The portions are laughably small - $19 for the dinner sampler platter and it's literally about 300 calories worth of food - a single egg, and a tablespoon each of rendang and chicken and vegetables with horribly gloopy rice. They also serve the food lukewarm (??), and brought out 1 persons dish within 5 mins while the other waited 35+ mins so that we ate at separate times. Very poorly run. Won't last long sadly

I woke up craving Indonesian. I googled and found one near Tucker. The shop was a little hard to find. It's in an office building that rented out to food truck prep kitchens. Drive past the food truck, pass another closed gate, and another entrance turn right and it's at the end of the parking lot. It's a little mom and pop shop. The husband is Malaysian and wife is Indonesian. They also have a food truck but been at this location for a year now and looking to expand. It's a little shop and cozy. Husband was very helpful and explaining the menu. I got the siomay bandung (one of the softest tofu stuff with fish cake with cabbage and dumplings made with wonton skin stuffed with minced fish in some kind of dough; comes with savory peanut sauce, sweet soy sauce and lime), ayam bakar kecap (good wok charred - soft, chewy, savory noodles with bean sprouts, carrots, sweet soy sauce, eggs, fish cakes, Chinese broccoli, onion, chicken, and cabbage) martabak telur (savory pancake made with eggs, spiced beef, onions, and green onions). Everything was delicious. The husband also recommended a jasmine tea. Hint of sweetness. Reminds me of the Chinese chrysanthemum tea juice box. I'll be returning to try the other items.

I have spent a great deal of time in Indonesia - working, volunteering, and vacationing - and the archipelagic country is near and dear to my heart. I used to take my dad to Tempo Doeloe on Buford Highway, to get the ikan balado (whole pompano with sambal); which took me right back to my Indo haunts. We were both so sad when Tempo Doeloe closed in 2019. Yesterday, I had the good fortune to stop into the new-ish Ibu's Kitchen in Tucker; hoping to find something fabulous for dinner. Chef Rina was behind the counter, and I had an absolutely delightful time chatting with her about her home country. I even got to practice a bit of my very rusty Bahasa Indonesia! There was a whole pompano on the menu, available fried or grilled; and slathered in sambal...it was EXACTLY what I hoped for! I ordered it grilled, to go; along with some spring rolls. O. M. G., it smelled soooo good as it was being prepared; and I was absolutely flooded with memories of my beautiful second home. When I opened the go box in my kitchen, the yummiest aroma of grilled fish, spices, and coconut rice filled the air. (My cats were quite impressed, as well; and begged for samples. Of course, I obliged.) The fish and rice servings were large enough for me to enjoy two meals; with a tiny bit left over for an egg scramble in the morning. Sambal from a jar is just not the same! I can't wait to savor some other homestyle dishes on the menu in the future. My dad is gone now, but I know he was smiling as I enjoyed one of our favorite meals... Terima kasih, Ibu's Kitchen - sampai nanti!!

Fantastic Indonesian food with great spices! You will have to look for it in the strip mall, but easy parking and access. It's a small grocery too, with limited seating, but it's worth the trip!

It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper

Restaurant area was okay with the atmosphere similar to a gas station cafe and an adjoining market of Indonesian products. I was tempted to purchase a package of frozen squid for later dinner prep and then decided maybe another time. Rice was cooked perfectly and curry sauce was rich and flavorful. Green beans with tofu were nice. Eggplant dish was swimming in oil. Pork rib pieces were inedible and unable to be thoroughly chewed due to tough texture and bone fragments. My dining companion had a dish of gelatinous beef and we remarked that we should have read more thoroughly pre-visit before doing any pointing and ordering. So, that's on us! We were unable to translate the buffet signage and ordered based off of appearance only. Would recommend researching before visiting if this is an unfamiliar cuisine as the establishment was not user-friendly beyond a specific knowledgeable dining customer. We were limited by our lack of info. We also believe we visited near the end of lunch service and this may have impacted our specific experience. Buffet appeared sparse at the time we visited early to mid afternoon Saturday. We saw patrons order from a printed menu as we were leaving and they appeared to be regular customers based on greetings and ordering. Printed menu has translations, so we may return to try again and also pick up some freezer squid to go.

Everything taste was good, but what really turned us off was the service. It was walk up order, and usually most places like that don't require tip, but I think is the owner, she pointed to our friends to tip, so they tipped, but felt awkward about it. We all sat at the table, and noticed that we were having to grab our food and our friends at the same table didn't, that was no big deal. Because I get it they tipped and paid for the service, but to be fair no one in our group was gonna tip because we assumed it was self-serve. The awkward part came when none of us knew if we could get just water or anything because it was never offered, so our friends asked for water, and the lady only brought enough for her and 2 other friends on their same bill where they tipped, mind you..we all sat at the same table. When we asked if we could get water, we were basically told to go get our own water at the water station. We were all shocked and frankly everyone was left feeling very awkward and uncomfortable. The food was not bad, but not special or good enough for us emotionally ever go back, We are always very generous with our tip, and when our friend told us they tipped, I was going to put cash when we leave, but the lady who "helped" us made the experience so awkward and unpleasant that we didnt feel it was at all worth us tipping, had she brought water to us, we would have given her the tip, but the whole time she would check on our friends asking them how was the food, we were also customers sitting at the same table...soooo no i will never go back. Just be warned if you go, either take it togo, or make sure you tip, otherwise be prepared to be treated as if you were invisible.

Best dishes (the reasons to come) 1) Salt and pepper squid This one was excellent. Fried well, not greasy heavy, topped with plenty of fried garlic, plus cilantro and fresh cabbage to balance the richness. Super satisfying and well executed. 2) Dried chow fun with beef Also a standout. Great texture and temperature, well seasoned, and the ingredients felt evenly distributed instead of clumped or uneven. This dish was done right. 3) Eggplant in a small pot Served in a small pot that keeps it warm for a long time, which makes a big difference. There's a lot of sauce, but you can reduce how salty it tastes by how you scoop and serve it. Comforting and flavorful. If you ordered just these three, you'd already have a great meal. Other dishes (good, not amazing) Coconut shrimp The shrimp itself was cooked well, and I appreciated the broccoli on the side to balance the heaviness. The issue was the sauce: way too much. It got soggy fast and leaned too sweet and too salty. Next time, I'd ask for the sauce on the side so you can control it. We also tried a vegetable dish and a fish dish. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable. Tea They serve tea if you order it. The chrysanthemum tea was pretty good, and I liked that it was loose leaf. Atmosphere and service We went around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, so it wasn't crowded. The vibe felt very local and family friendly. It's an older building, but clean enough and inviting. Service was great, and it seemed even smoother if you have someone in your group who can speak Cantonese. Would I return? Yes. I'd come back, especially for the salt and pepper squid, dried chow fun with beef, and the eggplant pot.

We ordered pan fried buns and instead received Chinese donuts in the bag :( I didn't realize it until we got home, but I never had an issue with this place so it didn't occur to me that they prepared (or packed?) the wrong thing. If I ever return, I'll know to do better than expect the correct order and check everything before heading out. The crab rangoon was still flavorful but whatever dough they wrapped it with this time was so freaking tough that it cut the top of my mouth. My jaw should not get a workout from eating crab rangoon of all things. Another disappointment in the bag. But the beef entree we ordered was good, yet overshadowed by the other letdowns of the night's visit given that I can't really remember what exactly we ate. I'm going to remove another star for the unhygienic practices I witnessed that I was perhaps blissfully ignorant of my last time visiting. It's hard to look past a server comfortably coughing into their hand and proceeding to handle multiple patrons' plates and orders without as much of a squirt of sanitizer. I will say though they are quite dedicated to the customer. As I was sitting in the parking lot waiting 10-15min for my order to finish, someone clearly forgot their food and the same hacking server ran out to give it to them. Oh wait! Turns out that was actually our food being jostled around as he ran through the parking lot searching for the owner. I was watching the time and planned on returning but maybe I wasn't moving fast enough for this guy lol. He did all that just for the order to be wrong.... Damn bro. I prayed he didn't box the food. I guess we didn't come on a good day? I really don't know what happened but the entire experience was off. Based on the night's events, I don't know if I'll return. No pictures this time...
