I called around lunchtime for an emergency tooth break. I was given an appointment within just a few hours. Because I had updated all my information when I made the appointment, I was checked in immediately upon arrival and taken back within two minutes. Everyone was so kind and pleasant and they really have their system down. I was in and out of there with a temporary crown in about an hours time. I was on Yelp looking for a new dentist, so figured I might as well leave a review to let everyone know why I won't be coming back here. The dentist I saw (Dr. Chen, I believe) was condescending, mean, and on a constant mission to up sell me. I know my teeth are bad, I grew up in a rural area that didn't have fluoride in the water and haven't had dental insurance for most of my life, but when going to a doctor you expect some amount of professionalism. He sighed heavily, rolled his eyes, and gave me what I can only describe as a "mean girl smile" when I explained to him why my teeth were as bad as they are. He also kept talking about this "hollywood smile" he was going to give me, despite me saying several times "yeah, i don't care about that. I just want to be able to eat without pain". Hey buddy, if you want to work on aspiring actors instead of low income rural folks, maybe move to LA. I told him I probably just wanted a few of them pulled, and he waved me off. I had to convince him to work on the tooth that was actively hurting me, rather than starting wherever he wanted, and he basically only agreed to start with that one after I'd talked to the finance lady about a plan for my whole mouth. I ended up going twice to take care of that one tooth I'd come there for, but not for any of the rest of it. AND I told him I was fine with a metal filling if it was cheaper and he waved me off again like "I don't do those" so I ended up getting this expensive root canal with a porcelain cap when all I wanted was it pulled! I had asked about possible payment plans before going in and the receptions was like "oh yeah, we do that" then when i go to the counter to pay and she's like we have the care caredit card. Uh, that's not what payment plans mean. If you don't have them, just say you don't have them, don't pretend you'll work with me and then go "$2k now, $2k next week". If you have bad teeth and/or social anxiety, don't go here. It'll feel like hell. read more

Dr. Chen should be ashamed of himself... it's pretty terrible that you know your patient population is typically those of no insurance, maybe those who are not financially stable, yet you take advantage and fish for money... That you will permanently alter someone's mouth for the rest of their life to benefit you for some extra cash. And it doesn't seem like he's the only money hungry dentist based on these reviews. (As an RN I have a deep dislike over those in healthcare who aren't in it for the right reasons so excuse my passion) I moved to Texas and didn't know a dentist. I heard of mint and went to this location where Chen DO told me I had FIVE cavities. I literally teared up I only had one in my life and am very thorough with dental care. He told me I have deep groves and prone to cavities. Prescribed me a special toothpaste so they wouldn't get bigger and the financial lady came right in to discuss payment plans. They had construction that day and I had to come back for my cleaning - where he must've forgot me because ironically he then commented on how beautiful my teeth were.... Not to mention the lady flossing my teeth jammed my gums so hard and so fast they were bleeding after. I even asked her to go a little softed which I felt bad to even ask I normally would never say anything to someone about how to do their job but it was HURTING. I flinched each time. She said "well we have to get it done. You must not floss". I do. Also they "couldn't find" my necklace I left near their x-ray machine. Sure. ANYWAY Today, I go to a REAL dentist... ZERO cavities. He said he would never step foot in these types of places. To the owner please don't apologize for my experience. Here's a synopsis of my visit: My typical location was near my house in Richardson. They apparently shut it down and changed it to a surgery only facility. Luckily, for me, I work near another location. My appointment was expected to begin at 1 on the dot. I'm very picky. When I choose a time, I expect them to be running on time and to see me at my designated dental time. My compliments -- The lobby is bigger and has a bigger waiting space. I didn't see any of the healthy snacks out but perhaps it is due to COVID-19 and to keep up with the government regulations set in force to keep the contamination down. They are not polishing teeth due to CDC guidelines. That's fine, they will send you home with the polishing and explain exactly how to use it. The goodie bags they give you are now reusable which I like. My dental hygienist cleaned my teeth very well and was very detailed oriented. Because of the virus, the CDC no longer allows them to polish your teeth at the visit. Instead, they will send you home with the polish instead to do at home. No big deal' Complaints -- I checked in and the woman was going to have me fill out the new patient enrollment forms again. I'm thinking in my head -- "I am not a new client and the call center that I did call should have conveyed this." Filling out the paperwork can be time consuming but I am glad they were able to transfer my records over. I'll keep visiting as long as the service remains detailed orientation. read more

I came here for a cleaning. It was instant doom and gloom when I got in the chair after x rays were taken. The doc (Dr. fisher) came in and told me I had 4 small cavities and that they need to be filled before they get bigger without showing me anything on the x rays. No sooner than he could finish his sentence, the finance lady came in with the paperwork for 4 cavities showing me that it would be over $1200 out of pocket to fill these. I took it upon myself to ask him to prescribe me fluoride toothpaste, which he did. Fast forward from October 8th to today, December 21st, I used fluoride toothpaste every day and went to Prestige Family Dentistry in flower mound. I didn't tell them about my experience, just waited to see if they found any cavities. Their review of my gums/teeth was so much more thorough than Mint and they said my teeth look amazing with no cavities. While Dr. Fisher may have been being very conservative with wanting to fill them, this would have cost me over $1000 when I solved the problem myself with consistent use of Fluoride toothpaste. The dentist himself is never involved in the appointments if anything he'll just swing by and say hello and leave it to the assistant . It's always a new face every single time. I started my Invisalign journey with them a few months ago to correct a few imperfections I did not like and now I completely hate my smile. They said I have 11 more weeks to go and my smile will be great. No, it looks a lot worse than it did when I first walked in. I had a hole in the back tooth that was turning black and no one raised any concern about it for months. Saw it in all of the scans and completely ignored it. it wasn't until I asked them what that was and the assistant nervously said "oh yes, we were going to tell you about it" It started to turn black!!!!!! Every time I come, it's like they are in such a rush. They want me in and out as soon as possible. I heard so many bad things about mint dentistry and their service. I regret giving them a chance.... Already made such a large sum of payments It's too late to go back now hoping they can fix the problems that they have caused. I'll keep y'all updated.... I should've went somewhere were the service and results were too tier. Dr. Christopher Wegsley could've done a lot better with my concerns and questions versus stating my teeth are big or I had crowding at the bottom. Prior and after my braces were removed I noticed a lot of spaces I didn't have before. Overtime this will cause me to experience bone loss and more cavities. My floss feels loose where as before it was a tight feel. The Dr. would tell me the black triangles are fine and sometimes all spaces can't be closed because of how my teeth are shaped. If the spaces wasn't there before it doesn't matter the shape or size of my teeth. I'm highly disappointed after spending my hard earned money with this franchise. This needs to be fixed. The retainers cut my tongue and I've been in pain for 3 days until my general doctor at a private office fixed it for me. Mint is very money hungry. The service should be a lot better and my issue corrected. My tooth was filed to removed the space and nothing changed. Even even my braces were removed the Dr. didn't come in and I wasn't given a mirror, just a form to sign stating they were coming off and I was satisfied with my result. I am not at all. read more

Listen, I've been to Mint about four times now. My first time, I waited so long, that I had to leave and reschedule. Since then, I've been back three times. Each time, I wait an average of 30 minutes before I'm seen. This is extremely aggravating and inconsiderate. I was told to get here early, so I could fill out paperwork, and be seen. I got here at 11:05 or so. My appointment was at 11:30. It is now 11:42, and the receptionist said it's probably going to be another 20-30 minutes before I'm seen, and asked if I wanted to reschedule. No, I don't want to reschedule. I've already paid, and I'm here for a wisdom tooth extraction. I'm not sure why/how Mint consistently has all of these 5 star ratings. It may be because they offer iPads, Beats headphones, and sunglasses? That's all I can come up with. read more

I am new to DFW and I'd heard the radio ads and saw the "Sexy Teeth" billboards and it's true all of it. Do not go anywhere else. And I definitely got free whitening with my insurance. I don't like to use the word hate but in this instance, it is warranted. I hate Mint Dentistry and will never go back there ever again. The wait. Omg. I've been to the Grapevine office three times and every single visit, the wait is about 30 mins. So frustrating! I had a deep cleaning done on my teeth and it was the sloppiest job ever. Both cheeks, my neck, my forehead, and my ears got wet. The dental assistant didn't even apologize or try to help clean up the spilled water everywhere. Not to mention, I was given a treatment plan which broke down the costs for my deep cleaning and fillings. The front desk charged me significant amount over what was stated in my treatment plan. That same day, I tried to get the payment refunded but they state that they couldn't help me at that moment and they'd call back that afternoon. Did they? Of course not. I called the next morning and again, I was told they couldn't help me. I followed up the next day and I was told over the phone one again that they're too busy in the office to help me. Ridiculous. They are the ones that messed up and aren't willing to help. They're so quick to take your money but won't give it back when they mistakenly overcharge. I had to physically go to the office to finally get some help. This location is a joke. read more

I would say I love my new dentistry place. I had my appointment today at 8am and they were ready to help me promptly. The staff was so nice and they took care of me very well. The dr and the assistant that took care of me today were great and they did a great job. The technology they have here is great too. All my dental work moving forward will be done here. I decided to try out Mint based on the reviews and others experiences at other Mint locations. All the staff I encountered were nice and it wasn't the usual awkward small talk that you'd expect at the dentist. They breezed through the X-rays making that quick and easy. I was offered teeth whitening. They make molds of your teeth for the whitening trays that comes with a case, a nice touch. The dentist himself was thorough and made the cleaning process as comfortable as possible. My experience would've been a five star rating if it hadn't been for the wait time. I scheduled an appointment for 4pm. Arrived and checked in. They said they're running a little behind. Cool, no problem. A dentist office running a little late is common, I figured maybe 15-20 minutes. It was a whole HOUR after my appointment time before i was taken back to be seen. If I knew it had been an hour or if they called prior and said they were running that late I would've rescheduled. I ended up having to arrange a family member picking my son up from daycare. read more

My 8 month old son accompanied me to the Dentist this morning for a cleaning and (gasp!) a filling. (My old filling from my pre-teen years had come out.) When he got fussy, they had no problems with me holding him on my lap during the exam. They turned on children's songs on the TV to help entertain him. After the exam the staff stepped in and helped keep him happy during my cleaning by holding him, bouncing him and singing him songs. After my cleaning as they prepped for my filling, they gave me a little extra time to nurse him in the chair. When he was done nursing, the staff stepped in again and took him up to the front so he could greet everyone while I had my filling done. Thanks Mint Dentisty! Such an amazing office. They absolutely went above and beyond! Plus, the dental experience there is amazing. I had my x-rays, exam, cleaning and filling done in the same comfy chair. I've struggled making regular dental cleaning appointments my entire life, but for some reason Mint feels less like a chore and more like a treat for myself. I truly enjoyed the company of the Dentist and the Dental Hygienist, and the charming receptionist was wonderful as well. They made me feel welcome, generously offered beverages and turned on Netflix for me to watch. Everything was extremely clean, organized and high-quality. I am an extremely anxious person when it comes to the Dentist. I also have very sensitive teeth and gums. I avoided the dentist for 7 years before going to Mint. When I got there, I asked about nitrous gas and they let me know how much it would be. I said yes and asked for it during my cleaning. They attempted to talk me out of it saying that most people don't need it for just a cleaning, we have headphones, massage chairs, etc. making me feel crazy for even asking, but I insisted feeling even more anxious and at this point just wanting to leave. After I said that I haven't been to the dentist in 7 years due to my anxiety, the woman at the front made a joke that she would "allow it", but I didn't laugh. I was taken for x-rays, then to a room for the cleaning. The woman who met me first also tried to talk me out of the nitrous for the cleaning with the same remarks as the first women, but she sensed my discomfort and dropped it. She was actually very nice. Shortly after, I heard another staff member walk by and exclaim "REALLY?, gas for just a cleaning?!" while laughing. At that point I felt so defeated and just wanted to leave. Despite everything inside me trying not to, tears started streaming down my face. I felt humiliated and crazy, and like no one there understood what it's like to have anxiety about the dentist. And worst of all, I felt like they were making fun of me. The tech saw me crying and thoroughly apologized. She felt really bad for me. My cleaning was fine and everything but all I wanted to do was get the eff out of there. They told me I have a cavity but I really don't want to go back. 1 WHOLE month of excruciating pain, an ulcer after taking so many pain killers to survive the tooth pain and I'm told I have to wait 1 MORE week to be seen. I walked out of there full of frustration, disappointed, humiliated, and in A LOT of pain. The whole journey started the last week of January I was drinking something and I felt sensitivity to the cold drink I had, the following day it was more and more. I scheduled and appointment with Mint grapevine my first visit, I went by the great reviews they had. I had my appointment February 1st the staff was very nice, I filled up the paperwork and was taken to the back right away. After the routine X-rays I was seen by the dentist and I was told that I more then likely would need a root canal but she would see if she could do a different procedure so we could avoid the root canal, I TRUSTED her and the pain started. I walked out of there numb after the anesthesia and the procedure I was given 800mg iboprofen for the pain before I left and I was told to take it every 8 hours, and antibiotics as well. At 3:00am I woke up screaming in excruciating pain my cheek was hot my jaw was hurting my ear, my head, I figured it was because of the procedure. After that I never missed a dosage of my iboprofen 800mg for 2 whole weeks. Finally I received a call saying my crown had came in and I could have it put in I felt so relived I would finally have the dentist check it and see where the pain came from. Once again I had NEVER experience toothache before. I had 2 root canals done before somewhere else and Even though I was told they were done wrong by my other dentist they Never hurt. I was scheduled for the crown the week we had the Texas winter storm so I couldn't go, by this time I was out of antibiotics, out of 800mg iboprofen I was on over the counter iboprofen. Living the Texas winter storm in excruciating toothache, and by now I had SEVERE acid reflux. I survived, and went in to see the dentist I do remember this dentist name Dr. Lee yay finally I figured I could get out of this agony I told her all the pain I was under, the elevated amounts of medicine I was under to survive the pain she tried the air machine on my tooth I couldn't even stand that she automatically knew I needed a root canal, it was obvious I needed one since day 1. Dr. Lee said I needed to be seen at the mockingbird location by the Endodontist for the root canal that they would send the referral and I would get an email with one as well. Oh and before I left since I was in pain and yet literally lived on pills to keep me from dying from the toothache she prescribed me ACETAMINOPHEN-COD #2 yes yes your hearing it right opioid she "called in the prescription" hello who does that specially after I specifically told her the amount of medicine I was taking to survive the pain. I scheduled and appointment at the mockingbird location. WOW that was the last drop. I was in pain for 1 WHOLE month I walked in there they did more test and the Endodontist told me I needed a root canal, they told me the price and NOT once did I hesitate to pay it was over $2,000 cash and I was in so much pain I didn't care to pay right there and then BUT yet I was told I would have to wait cuz, I was scheduled for an evaluating and there were Patients scheduled already. I couldn't tolerate the pain any longer I was dying. My head, my ear, my jaw, my stomach, I started having high blood pressure, and I developed an ulcer. I walked out of there in tears, I refuse to set a foot there I don't trust them I feel violated. I was on the phone crying sitting outside the starbucks coffee shop down stairs from the mockingbird location shaking, calling every single dentist in town to see if someone could take me in ASAP thank God I did I went in and the root canal was done right there and then. It took the dentist 30 minutes to drain the infection. What was done to me was malpractice they saw I never had a problem paying I paid the visit in full and the crown out of pocket cash all at once, I was self pay there was no insurance involved. I demand a refund. I don't trust ya, I am very very disappointed perfect textbook signature of the root canal been needed were shown and the first dentist (middle easter lady) that treated me ignored every single one of them and left me in pain for a whole month I was a proven case that my well been was never the priority. read more

My appointment was at 12:30. I arrived at 12:15 because as a new patient I knew paperwork was involved. I was called back at approximately 1:13. No one apologized for the wait or explained there would be a 40 min wait. I have PPO coverage but didn't get my whitening trays or gel. They did all the necessary x-rays and exams, but failed to do the basic teeth cleaning I came for. I understand I needed to come back for fillings and a deep cleaning, however what about the basic preventative care as outlined in my insurance? I was a bit disappointed with my visit. It's definitely a nice looking dental office. Plush. But in an effort to rapidly grow the practice there is a level of attentiveness that is missing. Dental hygienist was nice, dentist was nice but my oral exam was literally a minute or two. It wasn't really as thorough as I would have liked and I now have a tooth ache and another dentist found a cracked molar. Towards the end of my visit it was as if they were pushing me out the door. I was told because of my insurance I would receive a complimentary teeth whitening tray BUT if I wrote a positive review on FB they would give me an extra one. I was told to pick it up at the front but when I got to the front I was told they were so busy it wouldn't ready and rather than have me wait they'd call me to pick up my trays. Two months later I am still without whitening trays. Definitely will keep looking for a dental provider. read more

let me start by saying i was not impressed by MINT when i came last time. i was experiencing tooth pain and waited 3 hours to see a doctor even though i had an appointment. they did nothing after i paid out of pocket for x-rays and i had to go to another dentist for treatment. i waited over a year to come back for a cleaning and omg has it changed! i was a bit late and they still saw me and had me in a chair within 15 mins. my hygienist Leon really made me feel comfortable with my cleaning and did a thorough job since i had missed at least 2 if not 3 cleanings. he helped me learn how to properly floss with my permanent retainers. he made me laugh and explained everything he was doing before he did it. Leon made me excited to come back in 6 months! Dr. Chen did a thorough exam after the cleaning with Sandy and they both were very informative of my current dental health and how to improve my smile. Everyone at this location made my experience much better than last time and I'm not sure if there is a bunch of new staff or training but this place has really turned around. i didn't get free whitening like last time but i had my concerns addressed and got out just under an hour and a half like i expected to. I got my wisdom teeth removed today. The dentist was very nice and made me feel calm but the young woman who was assisting him and who took my X-rays was a bit rude and made me feel uncomfortable. Even my mom and brother said that whenever I was woken up she was rude to me when I wasn't aware of what was happening. I and my husband are very dissatisfied because the orthodontist had a stuck up attitude. My husband got his braces put on a week ago and two of the brackets fell off on the same day they where put on and then we had to go back the same day. We spent like 5 hours in the dentist office. And then 11/26/19 we had to go back to the dentist why because his brackets fell off the tooth. Paying 500 and our insurance covered 2000.00 we are not happy about the experience. And it was not done by the orthodontist it was given to a dental assistant to put the braces on . I never heard of that. But that's why they keep falling off we paid for the orthodontist to put them on instead of the assistant. read more

This was my first time going to Mint Dentistry. During my exam i was helped by 3 very friendly and talented ladies, which included the Dentist. Everything was explained throughly and you don't feel they are rushing through the appointment in order to achieve volume over quality. I will definitely be going back. Don't risk your health by going to Mint Grapevine. I was a fairly new patient of Mint Dentistry, only having a few cleanings so far at the Grapevine location. After the last cleaning, the receptionist told me that the dentist recommended that I have an old silver filling replaced, and that the filling "covered all 4 sides of the tooth and was in bad shape" and that if I didn't get it fixed PRONTO then I might need a crown. She told me that she wouldn't wait more than a week or two to get it fixed. Supposedly, that's how bad it was. They gave me my treatment plan indicating that I needed a 4-sided cavity treatment. Ok, so I go in for treatment kind of knowing what to expect. I'm not a complete stranger to fillings. I paid the amount that was listed on the original treatment plan for a 4-sided filling. Up until this point, all is fine and dandy - then it became a traumatic experience. Anesthesia Like I've said, I'm not a stranger to dental work. I know what dental shots feel like. However, this dentist gave me multiple shots, more than I think are generally necessary for a cavity filling. But whatever, right? I mean, she knows what she's doing, right? The last shot...was horribly painful. It burned so bad up my face and behind my eyes. It sent me into a slight panic attack because I have never felt that kind of pain during a dental shot. The entire left-side of my face went numb - back to my ears and down my neck. It was frightening. When I told the dentist afterwards that the shot was incredibly painful and burned, she said...and I quote..."I may have hit the artery." WHAT THE WHAT??! She even had the nerves (pardon my pun) to tell me that I could have more anesthesia if I felt any pain during the procedure. MORE?! Are you kidding me? Are you trying to stop my heart or freeze my brain? Are you trying to permanently damage my mouth? I'm pretty sure that I don't need anymore anesthesia and the last thing I need is you coming at me with another needle. Procedure Took all but 5 minutes, literally. Great, I thought, this lady may be bad with the needle but at least she's quick with the filling. She handed me the mirror and informed me that she only took out half the original filling. WHAT THE WHAT?!? Half? Sure enough I look in my mouth and there is still silver there. Not only did I pay for a 4-sided filling, but I wanted that silver filling out. She should've talked to me about it before wrapping up the procedure. What were my options - can I just replace the whole thing now since we've gone through the trouble of head numbing? And I shouldn't have been charged for a 4-sided filling if you're only going to do half of it. She told me that I would need to come in sometime down the road to get the other half replaced when it's ready. She also handed my an 800mg Ibuprofen and said that she normally would write a prescription, but "in my case" she thinks she should just give me one now. Next Day My left-side jaw hurts. It feels like I have a large bruised spot under my ear, right on the jaw bone, and even down into my neck. I can barely open my jaw wide enough for any food besides oatmeal or soup. It hurts to yawn. It hurts to sneeze. All for a tiny filling that took 5-minutes, a horrible shot that "may have" went into my artery, and a half-complete procedure. What a joke. Next Steps I have called the complaints department but they haven't returned my call yet. I plan to talk to anyone about this story. I want to be removed from the $5/month care plan because I don't want to come to this dentist anymore. And we'll see where my pain is at in a few days to see if they did any permanent damage with that needle path. read more

Today was my first experience with MINT Dentistry and it was a good one. Office was very clean, the Medical assistant was super sweet as well as my Hygienist Liz. The dentist did come in and examined my teeth which is always nice. Loved that was comfortable and felt relaxed. read more
