I've been going to Mint Nails for 2 1/2 years. Never complained about being moved from one girl to the next, but when the "owner" or "manager" (whatever he is) becomes arrogant and rude in dealing with me, I draw the line. I will not pay someone to be rude to me. Sorry! I have had problems with two nails on my feet and have gone there to have artificial nails put on my feet. I called on Monday to schedule an appointment and was told that the girl who normally did it was not in the next day, but someone else could do it. I showed up for my appointment as scheduled and was rudely informed by the "gentleman" (and I use the term loosely) that they could not do it. When I asked why I was told otherwise and if that meant they could not do it just today or ever, he informed me that too many women had gotten a fungus from getting their toes wet and then complained. I did not appreciate the attitude or the look on his face when speaking to me. The prices are not overly expensive, but not cheap either. I will definitely take my business elsewhere. read more

How embarrassing and rude, the manager could have at least came up to me and told me there was no one available and that's why they couldn't accommodate me. I have been a Mint customer for over a year. After several manicures, I'm now getting mani-pedis and massages as well. I have not been disappointed in any member of the staff, including Ben, who does massages. Prior to finding Mint, each place I went to was missing or not meeting my standards in at least one element; manicure, pedicure, communication skills, cleanliness, good massages. Bathrooms and equipment are clean and the salon is well run by John. He has been there every time I've been there. read more

They told us that they could take us, sat my niece down in the chair for a pedicure and then made her wait 45 minutes before anyone did it! They kept helping everyone else before her. What's worse is that when I complained they told me it was my fault for not making an appointment. They were completely unapologetic. read more

I don't think I'll go back again...the place looks nice and new and it's spacious so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of each other, but regardless of how many stations there are, there's always a wait to get your nails done. While the prices are average, the pedicures do not seem worth it. From afar, my toes looks great, but upon closer inspection after I got home, I realized that the edges were left unpolished. The pedicures also seemed rush - less than 30 seconds massaging my legs and feet and they didn't use a scrub like I've had in past nail salons. They also don't wipe down your legs with warm towels like other places. I went here to also get my eyebrows waxed and I HATED it! They left wax on my face and a lot of spare hairs. I like the place but I got a gel manicure at 7pm that chipped by the time I went to bed that night. I went back the next day and they fixed the two nails and again by the time I went to sleep I had chips on 3 more nails. I always get gel manicures and have never had them last anything less than 2 weeks. All I can assume is they use poor products. read more

Even though the place was completely empty, the service was terrible. I think the girl that did my pedicure was training because her hands were like wet noodles. She messed up my French pedicure with a huge 1/4 inch thick line and when I asked her to make it thinner another girl had to come and fix it. Very quick, in-and-out type place. I have been here 3 times before this past weekend and had good experiences. This past Friday was my 4th and LAST visit. Not good!! When they aren't that busy, they are great. When they're busy, you get treated that way. I noticed that the other 3 times I have been for mani/pedis, they work quickly but efficiently, never skipping steps but still doing a great job. This past Friday I was in and my girl Jenifer rushed me and was terrible. First, my pedicure. She didn't ask if I wanted my nails cut. She BARELY brushed the file along my nails. I kept having to ask her to file them again (they were all different lengths and shapes.) When it came time for the exfoliating scrub, she used the tiniest pump, covered my right leg and foot, used the callus scraper to touch the soles of my feet so lightly there is NO WAY she even did anything. Then, instead of taking another pump of scrub, she rubbed some off of my right leg and put it on my left and did the same. There was nowhere near enough product to cover even part of my lower leg and foot. All she did was smear it on, she didn't even rub it in. I asked her to do the soles of my feet again and a little harder (I have callused heels and balls of my feet). She looked supremely annoyed, gave them one more half swipe and called it a day. After she rinsed me off, she totally SKIPPED the lotion step. No lotion at all, no hot towel, nada. I've been to Mint enough to know that that's what they do with their pedicures. Also, the women on either side of me were getting the whole 9 yards. Jenifer just didn't feel like it I guess. She barely cut my cuticles. As she was applying my polish I saw jagged/messy skin around my toes. The whole pedicure process took LESS THAN 10 minutes, and that was with me having to stop her and ask her to re-do things. I was horrified. Ironically, my pedicures usually take longer than normal because my cuticles grow quickly and my skin is tough from years of dancing...therefore needing more maintenance than usual. My friends even joke that they don't like getting their nails done w/me because 'normal' services take twice as long on me and they always wind up having to wait. For the first time ever I wish this was the case. Manicure was no better- took no more than 10 minutes. Nails are all different shapes...she didn't file them nicely, they're jagged. She tried getting away with just pushing back my cuticles with asking if I wanted them cut. I had to ask. When I got home I had to re-file my own toes and fingers, cut my own cuticles and even touch up my polish in some spots. I understand that I was in on Good Friday and a lot of people were off from work/school and the salon was packed. But that doesn't mean they should get away with a rush/botched job. I'm always too embarrassed to stop the technician mid-service and ask for someone else. But for $45 after tax and tip, I will most definitely NOT be back. I go get my nails done to be pampered and feel relaxed. Instead of laying back in the massage chair and reading my book, I had to sit upright and watch Jenifer's every move because I felt like I was babysitting and having to make special requests for what a mani/pedi entails. Upsetting. Another thing to be aware of. If you are paying by credit/debit card. This may be a given but it surprised me so I figured I'd mention it: They do this thing where on the printed receipt, they show you the 'grand total', and then the tax separately underneath. Then there is no adjusted total. So your ACTUAL TOTAL is the two numbers added together. I had to ask if my total was the top amount that actually says 'grand total' or if it was that amount plus the lower tax. She said it's the two added up. Why can't they list the two and then the adjusted total again. Weird. read more

I've been to quite a few nail salons across norwalk-darien-new canaan-stamford, but I always go back to mint. For acrylic nails, they're the best - Esther and Nicole especially. Sometimes I've had issues with my nails before (took off acrylic and were weak/sensitive) and they helped me find a way to make my nails stronger and healthier so I could be happy with my visit. They always remember me when I come in, ask how I'm doing, how my mother is (she used to come in with me), etc. If you show them common courtesy, they will always do so back, which I think a lot of people forget about. My nails always come out just as I want them, and they've been super accommodating with me. Plus, some other things I like about Mint: one of the cleanest places I've been, never smells strongly of chemicals, great polish selection, no language barrier or issues with understanding what you want. Also, I recommend making an appointment ahead of time; it's just easier. I know there have been some lower-starred reviews, but if you go in with a positive outlook and take my recommendations, there shouldn't be any problems!! read more

Went to get a mani pedi and a few days later my finger nails felt bruised so I took of the nail polish and saw what they put on my fingernails had damaged my nails.... looked yellow & weird. The damage is growing out now and the nail bed is not connected to the nail where the polish was. Went to let the manager know and she dismissed it as fungus (NOT) and not Mints fault. My nails have never had a problem until this one incident and right after the manicure. Management got argumentative and not helpful at resolving the issue. Also didn't want this to happen to someone else but she refused to think it was any wrong doing on their part. During the manicure the man was very distracted and I think he used the wrong coating. Some days they're good some days they're so so, I used to get the color gen manis but they file my nails so thin I can't re do my nails until they've grown all the way out. Their massages are good, they're alright waxing wise. pedicures are rushed. Not my fav place, but not the worst. read more

The manicurist was awesome but the service is not. Whenever I get my nails done I always ask for a ten minute massage while I have my nails dry - this is not a problem at most establishments it was at mint. The woman had a rude attitude and was not pleased that I wanted to let my nails dry while she massaged me. I asked for a refund and they wouldn't give it to me and said they would send her over. Then the manager came over w money and was like she has a client - only I saw her standing in the back putting on hand lotion. Do not go here and expect good customer service bc you will not get it. Overall, they did a decent job...but the spa pedi was a little over priced. and i made it VERY clear to the girl doing my gel french mani that my wedding was in 4 days and i didn't want my nails too short. of course she cut them super short and my fingers looks stubby in the pics. i personally think that french manicures don't look that good if your nails are super short, which was the case. probably wouldn't go back just because of that. pedi was fine though. read more

I will not recomed this place I went there for the eye lashes extension which I had done,up to there every thing was fine, I was to go every two for a touch up. I notice every time I went to have my touch ups,they keeped leaving me for last. I had to wait for the only girl who did eye lashes which I waiting but they would give her manicures to do or people who was arriving after me. Friday, March 11th was the very first time I've ever gone to Mint Spa & Nail. I had to leave a review to say how impressed I was with the service. I had no appointment, I was seated within 5 minutes (I think I took longer to pick my color). I had a regular mani / pedi with callus remover. Great callus remover treatment with steaming hot towels, very relaxing. Today is Tuesday and my mani is holding up beautifully . No chip in the paint that usually a happens. This was regular OPI polish, not gel or anything, same polish for hands and feet. Anna did a wonderful job. I'll definitely be going back! read more

The worst! My girlfriend and I wanted a relaxing pedicure together but we were extremely rushed. Place is very nice but service is rushed and not very accommodating. No other clients were waiting but each lady only spent 10 mins on our pedicure that cost $25 dollars I expected 25 mins. Will never return. read more

Ben is one of the best masseuse I have ever encountered. He is professional, respectful and thorough. I always feel renewed after a session with him. The owner is pleasant too.I however do not care much for the pedicures and eyebrow jobs. The pedicures and manicures always seem to be done in haste and are therefore not so relaxing.. Its also often done by some weak tired hands.. often with a little attitude...wish everyone would be as serious as ben--- So I will stick to the massage--try deep tissue!! read more

I have been here a few times for mani/pedi and massages. Yesterday was more than a disappointment and I won't be returning, I told Ben that I had a sore neck and upper back. When he did touch in those areas he agreed with me. The problem is that he barely spent any time there. He massaged my butt crack at every opportunity. He massaged every part of my body but did not focus on the right area. I left with knots from the base of my neck up to my scalp. In addition, I felt his penis against my hands at least 5 different times. Between the butt crack and his genitals I was very uncomfortable. I told the manager that I was not satisfied and he asked me if I told Ben that I needed more attention on my neck and back, I told him yes I did, 3 different times. So if you have a sore butt crack and need to feel someone's chubby this is the place for you. I went home and took a shower and scrubbed Bens hands off of me. Disgusted. They still charged me, with no apology, but I did not tip him. read more

I wish there was a no star option. I went there about 2 months ago with a friend to try it out. I went to have a mani/pedi and had gel nail polish on. First they made a big stink because they do not do gel nail polish on feet and that's what I had. I told them it was fine and that I would get regular nail polish on my feet. For those that don't know, when you have gel nail polish...you get it removed with gauze soaked innail polish remover and then they wrap aluminum foil around your nail. This process usually takes 15 min. They sat my friend and I next to each other and as she got her mani/pedi and massage I still sat there with aluminium on my fingers. I asked 2 people that worked there if they knew why the lady that started me off just left me and if there was someone else that could get the job done. I told them I was starting to fell my skin get irritated. Finally 2 people came over and removed it. The lady that started with me was with another lady and had totally forgotten about me. I refused to get my nails painted or continue with the mani/pedi and they still had the nerve to charge me. I tried to fight it but I didn't want my friend to feel embarrassed so I had to let it go. DO NOT GO TO THIS NAIL SALON. Besides Coco Nails, this is the most expensive and uptight nail salon in Stamford, CT. Any other nail salon is cheaper and does a way better job on your nails. I went to this salon the day before Valentine's Day, so of course I expected the salon to be slightly busy. But I did not expect such a rushed and horrendous botched job on my nails. My pedicure done by Anna was rushed and finished in approximately seven minutes. Seven minutes?! for a $26 pedicure!! And there was no one else waiting. I've had better and longer pedicures for $10 before. Then I opted for a gel manicure because for some odd reason this places acrylic nails full set is $50?! That is so overpriced for plain acrylic tips that you could get in the Stamford mall at Naltique for less than $25. The girl who did my manicure, Cindy, was very aggressive and cut my cuticles as if she was cutting wood. My cuticles looked better before I came in for the manicure! Again there was no rush, no one was waiting for a gel manicure. To top off the worst possible experience I've ever had at nail salon, the color I chose which was #9 on the OPI gel nail color options, was at least three shades darker on my nails than the option I chose. I don't know if the nail technician chose the wrong color or if the salon switched the swatches but my nails are a bright fuscia color and I had chosen a muted, light pink. I will not be coming back here and I suggest Great Nails, Nailtique or Floris to anyone looking for a good salon in Stamford. Such a let down, honestly. read more
