We visited Mint twice in a two week period, and we can't say enough good things about it. It is SO good. The menu is pretty different--less variety than a lot of other places, but they're able to focus on making their few dishes amazing instead of having a lot of mediocre ones. I had the Vulcan and the Nebula. Both were awesome. Our mixed tempura was really good, too. On our second visit, we shared the sexy shrimp appetizer. This is an example of where the focus is on quality and presentation, not quantity. It was a tiny little dish, but we relished every little bite. It was an explosion of flavor; we both just kept sighing and "mm"ing. Our service has been really good both times. By the time we left it was packed with people standing around scrambled together *hint hint if you wish to avoid a crowd make those reservations early! The sauce complimented the meat tremendously... I may have dipped my lamb back on the sauce cause it was that good! Pork Belly: juicy and tender! It was seared to perfection, the sauce was delicious & the topping added a burst of flavor. Okay but wouldn't order again: Calamari: it was breaded nicely but I missed the rings that usually accompany the octopus. I like that they do the Tapas ( small proportions) . There's so many items to choose from. Our sushi tasted super fresh, it was GREAT QUALITY. We tried a variety of different dishes. All of them were incredible ~ 5 stars for the Salmon. The Walu Ceviche Melts in your mouth with its buttery flavor! The food presentation was pretty spectacular each plate was a work of art. Our servers name was Oscar, he was so knowledgeable and explained each dish as it was being served. The atmosphere has good energy and ambiance, This would be a great place for a date night. 2nd time in less than 4 weeks and service really took a nose dive. Made reservations on Yelp and shortly after we ordered every table filled up. Items were missed, forgotten (multiple times), and food wasn't as good as the first time. Food was sloppily put together, temperatures weren't right, and flavors were off on others. I would say 50% was excellent and the rest we should have had them return it to the kitchen. The sad part was people that came ~45 minutes after us had finished before we did. Great date night out our server was fantastic we just had him choose and keep being using things only rules were raw and no roles. Had loads of stuff and will post everything was a surprise. The takoyaki we are used to as a paper plate street food item overseas was Elevated to a white linen service experience. The walu was to die for as well as the pasta toro. **This is a sushi roll place** 80% of the menu is American style sushi rolls. If you're looking for nigiri, this is not your place. Nigiri is offered but very limited in options. A lot of "California roll" style bases with different toppings for rolls. My main complaint with the rolls is that I couldn't really taste the tuna. Another is that the "ceviche" is really just sashimi that is marinated. The spicy tuna mix was too overwhelming in flavor that I couldn't pick out the tuna taste. However the quality of the tuna was good, no freezer burn or weird texture from the thawing process. (Almost all tuna comes in frozen as it's not harvested in US waters). We have quite a few places for Sushi in SLC but MINT has stood out. It's artistic and the fish is some of the freshest I've had in the valley. It's very comparable to the same quality you'd get along any coastal cities which is pretty special for being pretty inland here in SLC but I'm impressed everytime. The salmon ginger and lamb chops have been a couple of my favorite dishes that have been memorable and that I've come back for but all the rolls and nigiri/sashimi is all very fresh and beautifully plated.
