He made us a "sample" ring - to show the process - which was super cool!! (And you keep the sample ring!!!) This whole experience felt like a Once in a Lifetime day. The rings are beautiful! We had been looking at some custom designs around town for the past year and then wham! We found in our backyard the best husband and wife team possible! I first saw the shop online a year ago... had a back n forth conversation... and when we were finally ready to get them, all was just as the conversation never had a pause. They were patient with all of my question and picky preferences... I wanted stacked ring and my husband wanted a single band... each had two separate wood inlays... My husband found Minter & Richter on easy, and we were delighted to find out that they were in Dorchester. We set up an appointment and met in their home, which is gorgeous and lovingly restored. Their showroom is intimate and comfortable, complete with the family dog (a sweet poodle. Don't worry if you're not a dog person. neither is my husband, and the dog left him alone). We spent quite a while looking at different combination and options over iced tea and conversation, and we never felt rushed. Initially only my husband was going to have his ring made, but I ended up picking out one too. It was such a fun process, and I love that my ring is just as sturdy as it is gorgeous. My husband is a little indecisive and panics if he feels like he isn't ready to make a decision. But that was definitely not our experience. When we picked up our rings, we discovered that my husband's had someone else's engraving. However, they fixed it quickly and without any issues. We also noticed that mine had a crack in it, which widened a few months after our wedding. Again, they fixed it without issue, and it looks absolutely amazing. Even with these two issues, I've given Minter & Richter five stars because we were incredibly happy with the service, our rings, and the way they fixed issues with no hassle and extra care. I cannot recommend Minter & Richter enough. We've gotten so many compliments on our rings, and they are unique to us. read more

First found Minter & Richter on Etsy but when I saw that they're in Dorchester, we decided to ride the scenic red line to their home studio. They seemed like a good fit for us right off the bat because we wanted something special but weren't comfortable dropping the amount of money that seems standard for wedding rings. Also, I had been coveting a blue or green band to go with my silver moonstone engagement ring, and Minter & Richter are NOT afraid of color! First impressions: the studio is gorgeous, decked out in vintage opulence, lived-in but very polished. We felt welcome and comfortable, and Minter brewed us some herbal tea. Picking out the rings was so much fun. Because we both have very different aesthetics, we figured that we'd end up with two totally different rings. But Minter helped us each create the ring we loved and they ended up with some elements in common, like the teal anodized interior. Though mine is blue and green box elder and his is black water buffalo horn (seriously! how cool is that?), they feel like a set. Though we were lucky enough to be able to visit in person, I have no doubt that their long-distance customer service is just as awesome. Long before I was even thinking about getting married, I was reading a web forum that had a link to Minter and Richter Designs. I bookmarked the link and sat on it for quite some time. I knew that when I was getting married this was going to be my wedding ring. I was travelling up to Boston for work and scheduled an appointment in their Dorchester home studio. I'm so glad I did this as it allowed me to get accurately sized as well as see all the rings, finishes, and inlays. If you are anywhere near the Boston area I would recommend you do this. I received the finished product a few weeks ago. It looks amazing and fits perfect. The packaging itself was also extremely well done and professional looking. My fiancé and I had a terrible overall experience with Minter and Richter Designs. For 2 weeks we called leaving voicemails and emails for someone to contact us regarding some design options. No reply... We live in Boston so decided to drive to their location to try and speak with someone in person. Upon arrival we discovered it was a split-level "home." I rang the doorbell then knocked only to find the door left open, slightly ajar. I called out if anyone was home. There was not. Through the (left open) door I saw on their kitchen table piles of rings just sitting there? It was uncomforting they would leave there merchandise out in an unlocked house. At this point I am worried cause I am 15 days from the promised over night ship date and have tried for over 10 days to get in touch with someone from the company and no one has returned any phone calls and or emails. I simply needed to verify that they received my rind sizers returned and verify they have the correct size of my ring in both fit and width. I fly for my destination wedding 5 days later, I was assured no issues. This rating would be 5 stars if they would have a reliable point of contact and return a customers contacts, especially when one spends this much on a male wedding ring. read more

It's probably not often that a wedding ring gets close to as many "ooohh's and aaahhh's" as a wedding gown but Minter and Richter's handcrafted ring made it happen. My ring was absolutely gorgeous and affordable. The entire process from start to finish was effortless. Minter put up with my craziness and was incredibly calming and reassuring. This is being said with having the advantage of being fortunate enough to be close to their showroom and getting the in-person care, but I heard her and her crew interacting with people online and they were just as caring and responsive. I am amending my review because I lost my original ring and found the exact ring much cheaper on Etsy. It too was also made in America and arrived in less than a week and I didn't have to leave my house to drive to some tough to find spot in Boston. I didn't want to buy the typical men's wedding ring so I started my search online for what I was looking for. After a couple of weeks of searching I found M&R and I was happy to see that they were a local shop that hand made each ring to order right here in Boston. I sat with Minter (I believe that is the woman's name) in her home to go over the design process which was both informative, thorough and fun. We designed the ring I was looking for and it took approx 6 weeks from start to finish. When i received the ring I must admit that it came out just like I had in my mind. I am fairly tough to please when it comes to workmanship and this ring met my every expectation. The price was reasonable and they will make you another ring for $100 should you out grow it or it becomes unwearable for any reason. My only criticism would be that their communication is not the best. When I first spoke to her, she had a bit of an attitude (like I was bothering her) and you had to kind of chase her down to get in touch with her. However...when I did finally meet with her she was pleasant and enjoyable to speak to so maybe she just doesn't like talking on the phone. Also their home is kind of tough to get to but I wouldn't let either of these issues stop you from purchasing from them. Artists can be a bit quirky and supporting small mom and pop shops is much better than spending your money on some foreign made, mass produced crap. read more

AVOID the heartache! A year ago we found this designer via Etsy and we were very excited about the beautiful and shiny ring pictured that had turquoise on the inside and metal on the outside. We measured my soon-to-be-husband's finger using various sizers from three different national jewelers and were confident of the size when we ordered it. The first ring we received was not only a full size too big, but it was not light and shiny like the picture at all! It actually looked rather dull and brownish. Distraught, I contacted the company right away and they said that that metal is unpredictable and there is no way to guarantee the color or luster. Regarding the sizing issue, they encouraged me to mail back the ring, and for an additional $150 (correction price) they would send me their sizers for a more accurate fit. Once we received their sizers, we took a few days to make sure of the fit, as fingers can swell and reduce throughout the day and night and we wanted to be absolutely certain! For the second time, we submitted our order and remained excited to see the finished product! But the ring came back too small!!! A FULL SIZE TOO SMALL!!! It didn't even pass my husband's knuckle (yes, we were married by this time)!!! Again upset, I contacted the company and insisted on a full refund with the return of the offending ring, which they begrudgingly agreed to, but not without having the audacity to imply that the mistake was mine. Summary: 1) Don't expect that the ring you receive will look anything like the picture that you ordered it from. 2) Use their sizers because they are significantly different than any other ring sizers in the rest of the country--but even then the ring might not fit. And best of all, 3) they will not admit to fault even if they significantly messed up! read more

Minter and Richter rock! I livein Houston and was travelling to Boston so I took the opportunity to hop on the T down to Dorchester to see the rings in person. The moment we saw them on line - we wanted them for our wedding bands. Minter was great - (and Ruby their uber cool standard poodle) - and their showroom/house which was papered in William Morris paper - very cool. But over a cup of really great tea - Minter helped me go through all the choices my fiance and I had made - and we put together a ring design that was totally cool and both reflected us together. The only problem was buyig just ONE set! - So we may do an annual anniversay set! :) Can't wait to get the rings! read more

Minter & Richter Designs made my engagement ring and our wedding bands and we love them all. We met with Minter in their beautiful in-home studio in Boston and designed all three rings with her helpful guidance. In the end, my husband's wedding band was designed to replicate my two stacked rings -- the engagement band with a beautiful blue maple inlay and solid titanium wedding band. The rings are light, comfortable, sturdy, and very affordable. As a business, they were timely, conscientious, and produced the rings exactly as we'd hoped for and envisioned. I have mixed feelings about Minter & Richter. Pros: Convenient location if you're located in Boston. Minter is nice and attentive, carefully listening to what you would like in a ring. Cons: Communication could be better. Trying to set up an appointment via phone and email took a few days. Had I not asked via social media about when I would hear from someone, I think it would've taken longer. I was told 6 weeks from the date of confirmation. M&R is a tough one to get a hold of. I had emailed, called and left voice mails the day after my appointment to confirm what I wanted. After the last call, Minter confirmed with me via phone and told me to send a confirmation email. I thought I would get it 6 weeks from the Friday. She replied the following Monday, saying I would get it 6 weeks from the Monday. Okay... I have a feeling had I not followed up and asked how the ring process was going, I would not hear from them. I had emailed and called to see if I could change my pick up date by a day. Left an email, called and left a voice mail. Called a second time, but did not leave a voice mail. However, with this call, Minter called back to see who it was. I mentioned who I was and confirmed details, but did not see a follow up email. From my interactions, if I don't leave a voice mail, I'll get a return call? I understand that this is a small operation, but I feel communication is lacking. If it's going to take more than a day to reply to your customers, please add a warning on the website. M&R is pretty active on social media, so with that said, if you're active on social media, you sure should be answering customers promptly. read more

Rings - A My rings were a favorite to shop for. I chose to order from etsy.com's MinterandRichterDes. It is a husband and wife team that makes a HUGE variety of awesome rings. We knew we wanted wooden wedding rings, but loved the look of the wooden inlay rings that they provided. We scoured the internet for different makers/types/colors/etc, but decided we like their look the best, as well as their price. They sent a set of sizers for us to determine which we wanted to order. This was a vital step, as our rings (made of titanium and wood) cannot be resized. (Oh! But they only charge 1/2 price if you need resized in the future. Not bad at all!) There was a mild miscommunication on the cost of the sizers, but they were very quick to make me happy, and I appreciated their willingness to do so. Not only did they work with me on the sizers, but she also allowed me to pay in two payments. This was immensely helpful! Once sized and paid, the rings were shipped and received quickly. And...they were beautiful!!! Absolutely stunning. They fit perfectly and they looked even better. Everyone loved the uniqueness of our rings, and we love knowing they were handmade (almost locally) just for us. Great customer satisfaction, gorgeous product: 10/10! My ring is now on my finger and is what I ordered. That being said it hasn't been the greatest experience to get to this point. Namely, all of the fees and delays. Shipping fees, rush fees, engraving fees, sizing fees. It's all quite a racket. I ordered the wrong size ring which was entirely my fault. To ensure the size was right before I reordered, I wanted to get some sizers. Which I had to basically "rent" from them for about $40. They also tried to charge me $25 to ship the sizers to me which was refunded when I complained. Which is what they had already charged me for shipping on the original ring and the remake even though its over a 100% markup on cost in an era where free shipping for high $ purchases is the standard. The rush fee I paid the first time was not honored for the remake and I was told to pay it again if I wanted the ring before the arbitrary 6 weeks. It seems the delayed shipping is not related to production time and is simply designed to prompt customers to pay the rush fee. Would be buyers should also note that the Titanium rings are NOT scratch proof and mine has all sorts of scuffs after a month or so of wear. The product was what I ordered and its nice. But I didn't like doing business with M&R and we're glad we bought our other ring elsewhere. read more

Extremely disappointed. To start, we ordered and paid for my ring 2 months before the wedding. My wife received an email saying it was ready, so she paid $95 to have it over-nighted to get it to us the day before the wedding. The ring never came, so we emailed them for a tracking number the evening prior to the wedding. The day after the wedding I received an email saying that if I want the ring made, I would have to pay. Turns out they didn't even start the ring yet. They informed us that the invoice for the order I submitted showed that it wasn't paid for. They then claimed that the mix up was when my wife paid for the ring as a gift, they submitted it under a new invoice number. They refuse to tell us why the invoice for the ring she paid for was never made, but they refunded us the money to have it over-nighted (least they could do). To make it up to us, they were going to put a 10 day rush. The next day they take a 20 day vacation. I got my ring one month after the wedding. And they don't seem to care enough about their customers to even try to see how they feel, they callously asked if we wanted anything engraved and left it at that. I can not stand to wear my ring, because it brings flashbacks to our wedding day, and the huge look of disappointment on her face, because I have no ring to exchange for the ceremony. The quality of the ring reflects the rush job, and its sad that I had to wait three months to get something that is sub par. read more
