Croissant and sausage sandwich with potatoes.
    Susan S.

Well, reviews are certainly mixed on this place! At 10 am on a Thursday, the place was almost empty. I ordered at the register and the server was a bit intimidating, but when he eventually served my water at the table, he smiled. I ordered a croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs and sausage, no cheese, and potatoes. It seemed like it took a while considering that no one else was ordering, but my food arrived looking very good. The croissant was one of the best that I have ever tasted, and the sausage was a real meat sausage, not a frozen cardboard one. I like my potatoes crispy like these were. This was a $15 order! I asked to purchase two croissants, but they had none to sell, so I am not sure that they are made on site. I did notice an overflowing sink full of soiled dishes and I later read the health inspection violations. I would not come back here based on these, and the initially temperamental service. My food was good, but expensive. The inside of the cafe was sadly lacking any European charm with the exception of the pastry display. No obvious dirt, but an air of neglect. Out of the way location.

Terrible burnt potatoes that tasted more like croutons.

Pulled into the parking lot shortly after they opened on a Tuesday morning. There were no cars in the lot and a man smoking a cigarette outside the side door of the restaurant. Walked in and there were barely any pastries in the case and no other patrons. It seems as though the only man working was the one outside smoking when we first pulled in. We waited over twenty minutes for our food because he cooked everything by himself. The potatoes were burnt, everything was bland, and nothing was worth the price. We will NEVER return. I cant believe we had to spend our hard earned money on this mediocre fair. Do yourself a favor and go to Erica's cafe instead. Cant believe this place is still open. So disappointed.

Since 1990 this french inspired cafe/bakery has been serving up breakfast, lunch and oh so many desserts, this review is specifically for their Macarons! Macarons, the sandwich cookie, not to be mistaken with Macaroons, it's more dense and coconuty cousin. They're a challenge to make, so it's nice to have places like these serving them up by scratch for you, I've thus far only tried 2 flavors, their Mint Macarons with a chocolate filling some years back and a few weeks ago the Coconut Macaron with a chocolate center. Both are very delicious and make great favors for a party for all your guests, best to call in or come early, before they're all gone! They sell like hotcakes! I'm only knocking off a star since I can't vouch for their other items, I noticed they carry the same Chocolate Peanut Butter and German Chocolate individual cake slices we tried at KP Market which weren't very moist, but dry, so I don't know if they're the supplier or both places get them from somewhere else, making me question their freshness...to be continued on my next visit.

Enjoyed a delicious breakfast here this morning. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was so good. Sadly we were too full to get get any of the delicious pastries. Silly of us we should have shared breakfast so we could enjoy a pastry too. I had the Breakfast Croissant with fruit on the side. Oh so good. Hubby had frittata also with fruit which he enjoyed. Others had other delicious looking breakfasts. No leftovers at all.

Best Monte Cristo I've ever had! Super fast and kind service, 5/5 stars. I rarely write reviews because when I do I want them to have weight, this place is a stand-out. 5/5. 10/5!!!

Got a few different types of cakes - we all enjoyed them Each one was very good- light cakes- no heavy creams. Chocolate was perfect. . Owner I assume was there - was very kind man - and even offered salads to take home to try in case I'd do catering there ! And they have those cute little mouse cakes - kids enjoyed those ! Will be back :))!!

I ordered a chai latte with oat milk ($8), and it was DELICIOUS. Definitely in my top 5 chai I've had. I will definitely be back. Oh, also, there was plenty of seating inside and outside. There were a good number of people occupying tables, so it was a good ambiance and setting for meeting someone, working alone, etc.

I came during a busy hour which wasn't idea but didn't affect anything in regard to the taste of what I got! Typically I like to find a spot that's quietly busy so if you're wanting to do the same I would try to come when it's less busy as I found myself slightly overstimulated by the business and seeing all the seats filled up which otherwise is a good sign! The Banana Dream Match caught my eye so I ordered it immediately along with an Avocado toast + egg ( extra cost). They give you a buzzer for the food and you have to find a corner to wait in that's out of the way and pick your food up by the kitchen. The vibe was very open and I liked the different seating options as well as the abundance of outlets. I ended up eating outside to get away from the busyness and the I was in the middle of talking when the taste of the Banana hit me. The best. Banana matcha I've ever had. Which I didn't expect because I've tried so many but what I loved most is that the banana flavor was sweet but tasted like real banana and the matcha flavor was still present. The banana flavor wasn't just at the top either it was top to bottom so every sip tasted the same making it soooo good!! The Avocado toast was good as well a little on the tangy side but I loved the egg. Great spot when it's less busy which would make parking easier as well but glad I stopped in to find my new favorite matcha spot.

I mentioned Fair Oaks Brew Pub as an option I found on Yelp &, as a local, he said it was a great choice. We almost immediately scored street parking only a few doors down. I'd never been to Old Fair Oaks Village before. Looking around, the little town center was more reminiscent of a historic gold country town up in the foothills than Sacramento suburban sprawl. The cutesy charm of the surroundings extended to Fair Oaks Brew Pub itself. Greeted as soon as we walked up, we chose to sit out in their inviting patio area on a perfect Spring day. Our server was along shortly. She was friendly, helpful, & the right amount of attentive. For brew pub fare, we both chose the Risky Burger. Essentially a Western bacon BBQ variation of their regular cheeseburger. Sides were upgraded to onion rings. For the brew, I got their Chicken Foot Pale Ale. Everything was up before long. The Risky Burger was outstanding. Crispy bacon, tasty onion rings (in the burger, as well as on the side), gooey melted cheese, & a perfectly cooked patty just juicy enough to turn the last bite or 2 of the whole burger into a bit of a mess. The Chicken Foot Pale Ale was decent for style, though a little old school in terms of recipe/ malts/ hops. Still, a refreshing pairing for the Risky Burger. All in all, Fair Oaks Brew Pub was a great spot to grab a bite & a beer in an unexpectedly scenic pocket of suburbia.

Ugh, I hate giving this place three stars…read more I've been here a few times over the years and have always come back thinking I'd give it another chance. I met a couple of friends after work today and realized I hadn't been here in a few years. The restaurant wasn't very busy when I arrived. My friends had already ordered, and it still took about 15 minutes before anyone came over to our table. We wanted to switch to a lower table, and the server seemed confused by the request even though we only moved two tables away. I had to ask for a menu and ask for water. My friends requested more wasabi and soy sauce, but it never arrived, even after their next rolls came out. The server disappeared so quickly they didn't have a chance to remind them, and one of my friends eventually had to get up and track someone down. On the positive side, I ordered the blue cheese and potato pizza, and it was actually pretty good. What struck me most was that the servers all looked like they hated being there. It's unfortunate because this place has a beautiful building, a great menu, and an excellent beer selection. Unfortunately, I've never felt the service matched the rest of the experience. Will I be back? Maybe. But I won't be rushing back. Eating out is expensive these days, and I'd rather support places where I don't feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff simply by being there.

Biscuit particularly not good as it was doughy, wet , chewy and tasted of too much baking powder. I did like the big chunks of meat. The country potatoes were typical diner quality, but I just don't like country style breakfast potatoes. No substitution offered. Server was efficient if a bit rough around the edges. Now the value for the dollar issue... The breakfast was $22, the unremarkable coffee was $4.50. After tax and a $5 tip I was out the door for $33. I recently had a wwwwaaaayyy more satisfying breakfast at Mario's Early Toast for half that price. Hot off the griddle is a big improvement over a Denny's. But that's a pretty low bar for judgement. The service was fantastic from start to finish. We had the chance to chat with Julian himself along with a couple other staff members, and everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The stars of the meal were definitely the breakfast wrap and the bacon, egg & cheese croissant. The breakfast wrap had the perfect balance of scrambled eggs, bacon, seasoned potatoes, avocado, and cheddar cheese. Everything worked together without any one ingredient overpowering the others, and the salsa on the side was a great addition. Honestly, it's one of the best breakfast burritos/wraps I've had. And the croissant... wow. It was absolutely delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the croissant was light, flaky, and buttery, and every bite was packed with flavor. The Nutella crepe was also very good. The crepe itself was perfectly made, though there was a little more Nutella than I personally prefer. Next time I'll probably ask for less, but that's purely a matter of taste. The avocado toast was the only item that didn't quite hit the mark for me. It was good, but the honey flavor dominated the dish and drowned out some of the other ingredients. I'd love to taste a little more balance there. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality made for a great breakfast. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be dreaming about that croissant until then.
