I haven't eaten a waffle in about 3 years... they have always been my favorite breakfast food but I lost 120 by not eating them. However on my way to a doctors appointment I passed Country Waffle and my brain went nuts... all the way to doc appt and during the doc appt I could only think of waffles. I stopped at Country Waffle on my way home and was fully expecting my 3 year expectation of a glorious waffle would be dashed. I was mistaken in every way! I ordered the senior 1/2 waffle, egg and sausage and hands down it was the best waffle I have ever had. The perfect waffle, warm butter melting in every crevice, maple syrup just like we grew up on... egg over medium to perfection. I had a lovely waitress who had my waffle back when I told her I needed it to be slightly crispy! So now I am deep waffle trouble as Country Waffle is calling my name as we speak. read more

I really wanted to love this place because it felt so nostalgic to breakfast places of my childhood. Not impressed. The menu is very limited and the service was literally terrible. I had to ask for a lemon THREE times over the course of 20 minutes. Then I asked for ranch and it came just in time for my last couple of bites. Not to mention that the ranch tasted like generic brand for hidden valley. Overall, we won't be back because it was overpriced and the service was terrible. Service: The service is probably what shined through the most for us in this meal. We came on a windy day and one of the people working there helped open the door for our party and welcomed us inside warmly. We were seated promptly and the service was friendly and fast. Really seemed like the staff here cared, unlike some other places. We also noticed there were a lot of people on staff and they all seemed to be experienced and knew what they were doing, which is rare nowadays. Food: Food was solid and I liked the portion sizes. Irritated... This place has always been one of my favorites for years... I have been coming here since they opened. I want to note I have never been disappointed until today. I ordered "the country" substitute ham for sausage... The description is "cheese toast with sausage on cheese toast with scrambled eggs and gravy... What I revived was a childs portion of hash browns and what looked like a childs cheese omelet on top of DRY Texas toast, with lunch meat ham on top.. I've driven past this place so many times on my travels up and down sunrise Boulevard, I decided to finally stop in. Boy, I'm glad I did. The place is fresh and bright inside. my server was Jennifer, and she was very friendly and extremely helpful. I was interested in the hot links and eggs on the menu, and I asked her how spicy the hot links were. She said they had a good amount of heat. Pretty spicy. Instead, she suggested I try the linguica and eggs. I decided to go for it. I asked for fruit instead of potatoes, and since this is the name of the place, a half of a waffle instead of toast. The food came quickly, and it was amazing! When I first looked at the linguica, they looked like hotdogs. I wasn't expecting too much, but when I bit into them, boy, was I wrong! They were delicious! They had a good flavor to them, and they just had the tiniest bit of spice that I noticed. I imagine they tasted like the hot link would taste like, only without the extra spice. They were amazing! The breakfast came with three eggs, which were delicious, and I got a very nice bowl of assorted fresh fruit. The coffee was also excellent. The waffle was also off the hook! ! This has been a stressful week so far. On my day off, I decided to treat myself to breakfast. I had been to Country Waffles once, a few years ago. Nice, nothing special. Today, it was very special. I had no idea they had Swedish crepes! Everything was just the way I always hope it will be. The scrambled eggs weren't runny, the bacon wasn't greasy, and the crepe was SO delicious! Seated immediately, which was great, and my order was taken pretty quickly too...also great. Food came out fast, but my omelet barely had anything inside of it besides tomatoes. The wait staff treats everyone like a regular. Most of them had their Halloween costumes on and it made the atmosphere fun and inviting. Our waitress Michelle was so nice and had a wonderful attitude. I had the Cinnamon Roll French toast breakfast and my husband the Fruit Rolled Crepes breakfast. We started dining here on Saturday mornings for breakfast about 6 months ago and became regular customers. When we first started dining here, service was excellent with quick coffee and iced tea refills and attentive service but in the last month, the service has gone way downhill. Drinks aren't refilled and diners aren't checked on as often as they used to be. Other tables near us also waited a long time to get coffee refills or any kind of attention from their server. They changed their potato recipe to adding bell peppers and small dry potato squares instead of the moist red potatoes they used to serve regularly which I chose to dine here from the breakfast place we used to dine at because I liked their potatoes much better. When we first started coming here, what attracted me most about eating here was their warm hospitality and attentiveness but that has gone away. We will be exploring other restaurants that serve breakfast from now on. What we DO enjoy is the portion size and affordable senior menu options but if we're just going to be ignored, we'll go somewhere else. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. The current owners have let the place go downhill. I have tried several times after being concerned about the service and quality of the food. I am not impressed and will not likely return any time soon. If you have something like pancakes with eggs and sausage, it comes out on 2 plates but never at the same time. Coffee refills are almost non-existent unless you really make a fuss. Service is slow, slow, slow! The menu changes are not really tasty. It was my wife's and also my first time eating at this restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and offered to choose the table we wanted. The server offered us drinks as soon as we sat down, which is a big plus for me. As I love my soda!! My wife ordered a coffee which was brought out in no time. It was freshly brewed. I ordered the omelettwich, and it was delicious. My wife had pancakes and eggs with hash browns. The pancakes were delicious and very tasty. The whipped butter and warm syrup complemented the pancakes really well! 10/10 I will definitely be recommending this place to my family and friends. Good comfort food and that is most of the rating weight. Good portions with reasonable rates. First time at this location as I have moved. Been at the two in Livermore several times over the years. Breakfast ordered was a Farmer's Scramble. They were nice enough to substitute tomatoes and mushrooms as I am not a fan of bell peppers and onions. Excellent taste and so much to eat, I din't get to the end of it. A plain biscuit side (one can have gravy added if desired) was fresh and soft inside; perfect. The interior of this restaurant is both dated, yet appropriately cozy. Seating feels like it has been a number of years since originally put in but there is plenty of indoor room with tables and booths. The wallpaper is everywhere. This is part of the "home" sense they are trying to give and it works. It might be time for an update and maybe a little more paintings or similar things on the wall and less wallpaper, especially all the same, would be timely now. I've been coming to Country Waffles here for... I'd like to say a decade. It's my grandparents favorite place to go, they know every person whose eating there whenever we've walked in. The staff seems to know my grandparents and are preparing their usual drinks before we even sit down at the table. Apparently my grandparents are the ultimate regulars, and they always get so excited to come here. It's a spot that's popular with the retired crowd, as I never see anyone remotely my age that isn't accompanied by someone whose retired. This isn't a bad thing, but it's noteworthy. The thing I can say about the interior is they never really have modernized it. It feels very dated. There's a difference between a restaurant trying to transport you to a different time period with the old décor, and then there's the everything is old, dated, and doesn't feel clean. To myself and many other people I've brought along, it feels grimy. That's not something you want when eating. In terms of the service, I think that's actually the saving grace for me giving them 2 stars instead of 1. From what I've heard from my family, as well as the staff, Country Waffles hires a lot of people from different walks of life. There are all sorts of different people working here and from an outside perspective, seems like they care about each other like a family. I have nothing but respect and admiration for that, which is what has saved a star. At the end of the day, a restaurants job is to serve food. That's what everyone cares about no matter where they go. I can confidently say that there is nothing special. It's pretty bland. If you get a skillet you'll probably need a ton of salt, and then hot sauce just to get some sort of flavor there. Hot sauce is supposed to help elevate a meal. The meal itself shouldn't just be used as a way to funnel hot sauce into your mouth. That was only an example of one of the many things they sell, but it rings true for most of the menu. There just isn't a lot of flavor there. Every time I've eaten here I always think about how I could make it all myself but better. I love breakfast restaurants because that's literally one of my favorite food categories. There's a lot of breakfast restaurants that take the simple breakfast foods, and they do it well. I'm not expecting them to try and do anything crazy with the food, but I should be able to eat it as is happily, instead of feeling empty with the lack of flavor. So what's the takeaway for Country Waffles? The service is friendly, the food is bland, the prices are cheaper than some of their competitors. I'd give it a 2.5/10. I wouldn't come here with my friends, a date, or even by myself, but I'll always cherish an outing with my grandparents. For that reason, I'm sure I'll be back in the near future. read more

Went here a few weeks back for breakfast/lunch. They had a nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices, and we all enjoyed our food. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient, as were the other servers that helped out; it appears they all work together, as far as bringing out food, refills of beverages, etc., which is nice. The only negative I could say was the prices were quite high. There was 4 of us, and the bill came up to around $80, so $20 per person, which seems a little much for essentially breakfast/lunch food. They also close at 2 or 3 pm, which sometimes makes it difficult to go as often as we'd like. I had once put up a photo of this place, Country Waffles, and the photo of those crepes Florentine is still there. I have eaten here once before. And I did so again. The outskirts of the greater Sacramento area, especially if not upper middle class and above, have a fair number of '70s coffee shops and diners, some of which were converted from the big chains you know, some of them which have always been stand-alones, and some of which are specific to NorCal and the Central Valley, such as Perko's, Lyon's, and this mini-chain. As such, Citrus Heights definitely fits the bill for being home to a Country Waffles location. Country Waffles is all about comfort food at fair prices. Their food, pricing, and service seem to be consistent at the two locations I've visited - the one in Clayton, a far flung East Bay suburb, and this one. This chain is primarily a breakfast and lunch business. The really dated interior of this one, and the way it's outfitted (read: blue hair), may make you chuckle. I had a chicken burger with fries and a soft drink. I recall that the chicken burger was a little better than I thought it might be, and it was, as a baseline, good. The patty was plump and juicy. The portion size of the platter was to my liking. The prices were also fair ... Central Valley prices as opposed to Bay Area prices. Lastly, the service was also very good, thanks to an amicable server. There is a lot of free parking around the store in this somewhat tacky shopping center with Food Maxx and Planet Fitness that's a little long in the tooth. The restaurant itself is exactly of the suburban variety I've described. Plus, Citrus Heights has always been the butt of quite a few jokes in this area. It probably looked very "Brady" when this suburb was built out, and is now far from being that, although adjacent West Placer County still sort of is. But, take heart, you could make Citrus Heights sound more romantic by translating it into Italian, making it "Poggi d'Agrumi." Sure, hanging out in Citrus Heights isn't what residents of the greater Sacramento area, nor visitors to it, might envision as being a superlative California experience. However, because they have the bases covered, I'll go with 4 stars for Country Waffles for the 4 words: CITRUS - HEIGHTS - COMFORT - FOOD Badda bing. read more

It also came w/ a choice of fries, salad or cup of soup. My sandwich was hot, tasty & just like I expected it to be! The veggie was good also. Lights appeared a lil dim but not dark. But we had to wait for the server. She finally came over and we ordered a decaf and diet Pepsi. A tall guy brought it over and just dumped it on our table. Didn't ask who got what. I have been coming here for many years after my dad introduced it to me and it's my favorite breakfast spot, one of the only ones in town that provide a side of pb with their pancakes! It's a family tradition that I believe my grandma on my dad's side started doing and my mom and I continue to do now! It was my mom's first visit this morning and she ordered their Strawberry Crepe and she loved it, I had some as well and it was pretty good! We also ordered a side of ham to split and that was delicious as well as some whip cream to spread on our pancakes and crepes mm! I've been here a couple of times. This morning was disappointing. I ordered the strawberry pancakes special. It comes with 2 eggs and 2 bacon for $10.50. It was great! Then I ordered the famous cinnamon roll, it was more of a croissant cut in half with some weird cinnamon sugary liquid, not icing. We love coming here. The atmosphere is cute, very country like with lots of fun cute art all over. Something you would see at Granny's farmhouse kitchen. The staff is friendly-- usually a waitlist so be patient. The food is always prompt and hot! The coffee is always flowing in this place.
