Also, we had more people joining us so by plating all the apps upfront there wasn't enough for the rest of our party. Even still he was a great waiter. The food was phenomenal! Typically, an Italian restaurant comes with some kind of complementary bread service and a choice of soup or salad with your entree. There is no bread service unless you order and pay for it. If you want soup or salad, you have to order it separately from your meal. If you order an entree such as fish or chicken, it does not come with sides, you have to order those separately. If the food was really good, I'd have no problem doing this and having a larger than normal check, but the food isn't very good. I've been to other restaurants that do this (i.e. Boilerhouse) and have no problem with this as the quality of their meals, ambiance, and service make it worth the price. Not so for Paretta's. We started with an appetizer, calamari. It was good. Not the best, but no major complaints with that. We each ordered a half salad. It was a nice size, but the croutons were chewy.
