Was a bit skeptical about this diner- I'm used to only one diner because of my love for homefries (not every diner does home fries) however I ordered frenchfries, scrambled eggs with cheese, pork sausages and toast with a glass of orange juice. Let me just say everything tasted so good!! Would definitely come back again but this time I'll get the Turkey sausages instead. The pork sausages need a little bit more seasoning but nonetheless the food was so good! The atmosphere was amazing, friendly and helpful staff, we were able to listen to music of our choice at our table with our own jukebox (how cool is that?!) my family brought me here for my first time and it was lovely. They've always gotten my order right and close to perfection but this is just unforgiving. Went here with two friends after a Yelp event (museum of icecream event). The food was so so, but big portions. The waitress did get my order wrong and forgot to give me my dessert and charged me for my drink which should had been included in my meal. I didn't notice until after we left. I couldn't blame her entirely because one of my friend whom has lots of dietary requests probably confused the heck out of her. Requesting for soy free, dairy free, gluten free and then many other customer service requests. Either case, we closed out the diner. It was not 24 hrs and they did have a closing time. I came here last night and I was shocked how empty it was at 6:45pm. Again, my scrabble meetup group met at 7pm. I ordered an order of fries and a fountain drink. The waitress was very nice; however, the woman I was playing with, told me she was the first one here, and we were the last to be served. I did enjoy my orders. This is a large diner and has been around for a very long time. There is a full bar as well. They definitely need to redecorate and modernize it a bit because nothings changed and it's an old and when they first built it. But actually that can be very charming and at times I like that kind of ambience. Many of the staff that work there have been there 10/15 years. I like there's not a big turnover. UPDATE: Came here for Breakfast. Good Grief what a Hot mess! NEVER AGAIN! First the hosted who sat us had a dirty shirt on and looked unkempt and sloppy. I Ordered an omelet with Pepper, onion & tomato and the guy brought it out with the Plate Dirty and finger prints on it and what looked like hard food crumbs. I ate around it. The Peppers were crunchy undercooked. Not happy because I could make better at home. The home fries were over cooked and tasted old. The 7 grain roast was good and the waiter never came back after giving me my plate. Bad Service! Bad food! It seems like the kitchen does not care and that actually made me Really nervous! Update to my previous reviews: Several months ago (April or May) I went back with a friend late at night because there was nothing else opened. I had a turkey sandwich and he had a veggie burger. Both (including sides) were very good! And he (never having been there before) had nothing but praise for the place and the food. Here's my homage to the Mirage. Sometimes the best things are right in front of you. It just takes some time to see them. I believe this is a quote from the amazing and wonderful Gladys Knight. I think this quote aptly applies to the Mirage Diner as when we were living close by, we would go there frequently and I never fully appreciated the food. What was I thinking? So tonight we ordered a cheeseburger deluxe and fish and chips for delivery and it's just as good as we remembered. The chips are sliced paper thin and just add a different dimension to the dish in a very positive way. The burger was cooked and seasoned to perfection and immensely enjoyed by my mom. She also noted that the quality of meat was excellent and she is a burger connoisseur. If I had one recommendation, it would be to provide a bit more coleslaw and tartar sauce, but that's on me for not adding it to the notes. All in all, the best darn diner around in my opinion and the menu is massive. Delivery was quick and polite. Will definitely be ordering or may pop in for dinner again. read more

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon for a quick lunch. They allowed us to sit wherever we wanted. They were a bit busy but had plenty of seats. The waiter was very pleasant and brought us a pitcher of water cause it was very hot outside. They took our order quickly after. I ordered a Greek burger with fries, nothing fancy. The burger was cooked well and the fries were great, would definitely recommend. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the food is quite expensive for a diner in my opinion. I went to the mirage diner a couple days ago and it was NOT good me and my bud got the same thing and while we waited we got our drinks. I got Dr Pepper he got Diet Coke my Dr Pepper was all water it was just carbonated water it was not good. Our server didn't ask us how we wanted our food so it was overcooked and very dry. I also got wings they were ok and that was really the only good part about my meal. After we got our food not once did our sever come back to see how our food was and we were the only people in the place. Do not recommend. read more

I go to the Mirage Diner regularly. I went a few days ago. There were two dead flies in my seltzer. I went right over to a person who is in charge and brought him over to my table. He patted me on the back and said that these things happen. He thought it was kind of funny. I most certainly don't. He wanted to know if I wanted another glass of seltzer. Of course not. Instead I got a glass of water of which I drank very little. I'm very disappointed in them. read more

Today my husband and I were in the Midwood so we drop by this diner Mirage. I was here a few years back for class reunion which was very sweet. Anyway the food here is diner food which is basic and hits the spot. I had an omelette consisting of zucchini and mushrooms with a side order of french fries. It was tasty perfect for late afternoon meal. I really love the old school concept of unlimited coffee yes this is what this Brooklyn chick appreciates most of all. Wow, what a great first experience at Mirage! My mother recommended this 24 hour diner to us - said the quality is great, but a little pricey. My husband ordered a dinner special that came with stuffed cabbage, matzoh ball soup, garden salad, entree (a chicken pasta dish), dessert, and a tea/coffee for $24. He raved about the whole set and everything was delicious. I had a chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was very good. We also had pickles, coleslaw, and chick pea starters as their free starters. Manny was our waiter - he was so nice and professional! We hope to see him again the next time we're back (which may very well be in a few days!). In response to the reviews stating that the diner looks outdated - it's actually not that bad. Went there for lunch today with a friend. One of the last decent diners standing in Brooklyn, with an extensive menu. It may not be fancy, but it's clean and comfortable-even if I'm not one to frequent diners too often, it's still important to me to support local businesses and their employees, and keep them going. I had a delicious eggplant parmigiana sandwich, and my friend had a shrimp salad sandwich, and there was still room for dessert (isn't that always true?) I'm on cloud 9 ever since the covid restrictions have been relaxed ever so slowly in my town. It's still great to see my old friends again. They stuck with it when times were bad and I can't thank them enough for their service to their customers & their country during these trying times. I connected with manager Larry who's a sweetheart of a guy. Food is sensational, bus boys are very attentive to their diners need. You can't go a minute without getting your coffee topped off and your water glass filled.& their cashiers always greet you with a smile. Very few old school diners are left in Brooklyn so I'm hoping that the Mirage stays open for years to come. If you've never been to the Mirage you don't know what you're missing, and if you're an old timer like me, I don't have to tell you how great the Mirage is cause you already know. Definitely a solid version of a classic diner. Hundreds of pretty reasonably priced items of every type of variety. Outside of scope of options this place is fairly middle of the road, the prices are decent but not great, the service is fast and friendly but we had a simple order with errors, the taste is good, but nothing to write home about. So why Mirage? If you want to be able to choose from everything from seafood to Mexican to American to a wide variety of coffees and adult beverages, you want a decent price point and to get in and get out this is a good choice. If you're looking for the meal in Brooklyn that you will write an excited Yelp review about in the future (the logo is on the menu to remind you) and tell all of your friends to visit on their next trip to NY then in my humble opinion I'd suggest you keep looking around. read more
