This place is pretty good when you want to stop by and are around Kingshighway. The food portions are good and their coffee is tasty. Only thing I would love to see here is some cherry pie! A diner staple. If they do end up bringing it in, I WILL be there.

Would give ZERO stars if possible. Ordered avocado toast. Got plain toast with avocado chunks and eggs thrown in a container. Not avocado toast. Called to explain and a manager named Larry became aggressive and sexist--a total chauvinistic pig--calling me "honey" and "baby," and refusing to give his name. He told me to return the food, then acted even worse in person, shoving the menu at me and saying he didn't care. Staff admitted he fights with them often. Terrible food, worse treatment. Never again.

The staffs are friendly. Ordered chicken parm on hero to go. It came with pickle and coleslaw. The chick parm sandwich was good but it didn't come with fries. Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambience: 3/5

Pretty good food I've explored more items on the menu. The chicken sandwiches are great. We love those. The pasta dishes are also very nice. Solid place that has really gotten better with time

Honestly horrible food. Stopped by this morning to get some breakfast before a doctor's appointment and got the challah French toast with a side of bacon. The challah French toast was some of the worst I've ever had. It was oddly both bland/tasteless and weirdly undercooked/soggy. I had to drown it in syrup just to make it edible and only ate the smaller of the two pieces. The bacon was also horrible. It was either old or overcooked or both. It wasn't crispy or chewy, just kind of felt like you're eating cardboard and tasted probably about as good as cardboard tastes. It also didn't really look like bacon but more like a bacon flavored dog treat. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one is because the waiter was very sweet and the coffee was decent. I won't be coming back here though because if you mess up something as simple as French toast, I'm afraid to taste anything else here.

The Mirage Diner has been around many years. I've passed it for many years and never stopped! We decided to come for dinner because my husband's aunt orders from here and always says how good everything is and she said they have a great lime Ricky. Well they do and the food was excellent! The diner is spotless too. Our waiter came over and introduced himself, which I haven't seen in a while. My husband got his usual pizza burger deluxe. It was done perfectly medium, juicy and delicious! The fries were good not greasy at all. There were two good sized onion rings and your tomato which looked nice not mealy and lettuce. Now I've been dying for pastrami for weeks but too darn cheap to go get one. The Mirage has pastrami and corned beef, also brisket which I'll try next time. I took a shot and got the open faced pastrami sandwich. I'm thinking ugh you idiot...IT WAS DELICIOUS! Just as good as any kosher deli if not better. It smelled heavenly and it had just enough fat to keep it from being dry and not where you have to constantly cut fat off. I found out they won an award for their pastrami! The hot open faced sandwiches comes with soup or salad, I opted for salad which was fresh and crisp, potato of choice and a veg. We will be going back and I suggest you all do too! Definitely get a pastrami sandwich!

Comparing this diner to the Vegas diner which is now closed down which is better?

I was a long Vegas regular, Mirage is better. The onion bread that usually comes in the bread basket w/dinner on Sundays is hella good.

The servers come directly to your table and they write down the menu for the day. The menu generally run American classics, but a bit more "chefy" than a run of the mill diner. Unfortunately, I think I came on an off day, as there were some miscues. The clam dish had a ton of potential, but was noticeably overseasoned, and I'm a self-proclaimed salt lover. It was mentioned that the pork chop was going to be medium to medium-rare, but what we received was in the edge of well done (and even burned on some ends). The burger and fries, though, were fantastic. A bit hit or miss, but I do want to come back as the menu is creative and I'm sure it would have been great on a better day.

It's clearly evident why the pancakes at the Gold Diner are famous, viral, and most talked about. My husband and I were obsessed with the lemon zest on the butter. The pancakes are decent, though, with a perfect fluff inside and crisp on the outside. The lemon zest adds a bit of tang and flavor to the honey butter's sweetness, which I love. It isn't the best pancake in the world for me, and I'm a little underwhelmed given the hype for this. But I think if I ignored the hype, it's still a solid pancake. It isn't anything crazy to me, though. I wouldn't wait hours in line for this, but if you're a pancake fiend, definitely go here! Service was very efficient and attentive. They were very kind and food came out very promptly. Also, there isn't much seating inside, and there's only one bathroom. This spot has a handful of tables and while we were there, quite a few to-go orders were picked up as well. Though we were the only diners, so I assume it's more of a breakfast/brunch spot. The menu is rather expansive with options from breakfast to lunch and dinner. After studying the menu, we opted for the Veggie Burger and the Meatball Parm Po'Boy. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes, which seemed a little long as we were the only diners, but we were not in a rush so it was fine. As the restaurant was unassuming, I honestly had pretty low expectations, but we both really enjoyed our meals. It was definitely large portions and really flavorful. My fiance said the Meatball Parm Po'Boy was delicious and I appreciated that the veggie burger seemed to be made in house as it was falling apart (in a good way) and you could distinguish some of the veggies. I ended up only eating about half of my burger and took the rest for lunch the next day and it held up well.

We also tried to oat milk mocha, s'mores espresso, breakfast sandwich with avocado, and the cheddar biscuit. The food looked wonderful and tasted even better. As a southern gal, I was skeptical about the biscuits, but they were buttery and savory and fluffy. They were definitely more of a bready biscuit than a flaky one, but delightful nonetheless. The breakfast sandwich had a great flavor and I liked the option to add avocado to keep it vegetarian. I just wish there were more slices of avocado on it. The espresso was good but nothing too special. The star of the brunch would have to undoubtably be the pancakes. The hazelnut flavor was divine and coupled with a fluffy, cake like pancakes!! And had they arrived a moment later, they would have seeped through the box. Fine. I'll just get them out of the box, onto a real play. Ha. They must have been added to the box while they were fresh off a hot pan. A good amount was welded to the box. Annoying, but fine. And then the brew arrived without sugar or (paid for) oat milk. They hate me. It's ok, I'll just drink it black. And that's where 2 stars get knocked off. Worst tasting coffee ever. Cold brew is supposed to be smooth, with very little acid. This was extremely sour! As if it was made previously and had been sitting around for a couple of days. It took me a minute to realize how bad it was. And suffering as a result. Intense stomach pains and tummy issues. From coffee. Smh. I will probably eat there, in person. But I will never trust their cold brew again. Or delivery.

Lastly, we got a Caribbean omelet. My rice and pernil was solid. The rice could've used a tad bit more seasoning but when mixed with the side of beans and plantains plus a drizzle of hot sauce it was perfect. They had a variety of sauces--Tabasco (my fave), a Jamaican one that was super spicy, and a mild homemade one. The tres/quatro golpes was also a hearty choice with mangu (mashed plantain), sausage, fried cheese, and eggs. The pickled red onion balanced everything out. The fried cheese is similar to a halloumi but I think it's a bit more flavorful. All the flavors just melt together in your mouth perfectly. The French toast and omelet were good. I was lured by the chicken Kyiv based on the picture of having two rolled up chicken cutlets stuffed with dill and other yumminess, but was a bit disappointment when it arrived with a single small cutlet on my plate with two heaping mounds of potatoes mash and broccoli. I instantly had regret when I should have gotten the borscht soup with pierogies, but wanted to try something I wouldn't usually. I should've stuck to what was safe. My work mom got the stuffed cabbage and that was a clear homerun- really loved the mushroom gravy that it came with. My other colleague got the potato pancake and wasn't too thrilled with it, while my boss got the two Swedish meatballs that he described to be Ikea worthy. Although this was my first time here, I can't say that anyone really loved the food nor would come out of their way to come back.
