I usually repost and substract a star when this happens, but Diner does remain close to my heart. It does need to work on the consistency end of things, as with entrees in the $48 range (for real) everyone should know what they're doing. For the most part, they do. Remains a neighborhood fav.

The servers come directly to your table and they write down the menu for the day. The menu generally run American classics, but a bit more "chefy" than a run of the mill diner. Unfortunately, I think I came on an off day, as there were some miscues. The clam dish had a ton of potential, but was noticeably overseasoned, and I'm a self-proclaimed salt lover. It was mentioned that the pork chop was going to be medium to medium-rare, but what we received was in the edge of well done (and even burned on some ends). The burger and fries, though, were fantastic. A bit hit or miss, but I do want to come back as the menu is creative and I'm sure it would have been great on a better day.

The pancakes are decent, though, with a perfect fluff inside and crisp on the outside. The lemon zest adds a bit of tang and flavor to the honey butter's sweetness, which I love. It isn't the best pancake in the world for me, and I'm a little underwhelmed given the hype for this. But I think if I ignored the hype, it's still a solid pancake. It isn't anything crazy to me, though. I wouldn't wait hours in line for this, but if you're a pancake fiend, definitely go here! Service was very efficient and attentive. They were very kind and food came out very promptly. Also, there isn't much seating inside, and there's only one bathroom. If you want to try the pancakes without much wait, then go on a weekday that isn't breakfast or early lunch.

The menu is rather expansive with options from breakfast to lunch and dinner. After studying the menu, we opted for the Veggie Burger and the Meatball Parm Po'Boy. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes, which seemed a little long as we were the only diners, but we were not in a rush so it was fine. As the restaurant was unassuming, I honestly had pretty low expectations, but we both really enjoyed our meals. It was definitely large portions and really flavorful. My fiance said the Meatball Parm Po'Boy was delicious and I appreciated that the veggie burger seemed to be made in house as it was falling apart (in a good way) and you could distinguish some of the veggies. I ended up only eating about half of my burger and took the rest for lunch the next day and it held up well.

I instantly had regret when I should have gotten the borscht soup with pierogies, but wanted to try something I wouldn't usually. I should've stuck to what was safe. My work mom got the stuffed cabbage and that was a clear homerun- really loved the mushroom gravy that it came with. My other colleague got the potato pancake and wasn't too thrilled with it, while my boss got the two Swedish meatballs that he described to be Ikea worthy. Although this was my first time here, I can't say that anyone really loved the food nor would come out of their way to come back. I really was hoping this would have wow-ed me in some way, but I guess I'll stick to what's familiar.

First I want to start by saying! I used to be a patron of this diner years ago until it became run down and impossible to eat because of how filthy it had become.Dirty walls, flies and filth! I just recently gave them another chance because a good friend of mine reintroduced me to the new and improved Mirage... was that a mistake! I ordered online through menufy. I ordered a platter and they gave me something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT I called them and they took forever to correct their MISTAKE , ONLY THING IS THEY ASKED ME TO RETURN THE PREVIOUS INCORRECT FOOD BACK TO THEM! Don't get me wrong in theory this sounds ok, BUT we are in a PANDEMIC so I felt this was dangerous to say the least!! I mean what are they going to do with opened and handled food?? GIVE TO SOMEONE ELSE?? NOT ONLY THAT, BECAUSE I DID NOT GIVE the FOOD BACK TO THE DELIVERY GUY THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD TWICE WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE! Least they could have done is to apologize is give let me keep the food. Horrific customer service I called Menufy and they are basically at mercy of the restaurant!THEY REFUSED TO RETURN MY MONEY! I ordered food from Mirage Diner the evening of Sunday, May 24th at ~9 pm. At 10:15 pm, I received a call on my cell phone from the driver asking that I meet him in the lobby for delivery of the food. I insisted that he deliver the food to my apartment on the 5th floor. He was angry and hung up. When he arrived, I took the food from him unpleasantly. As the elevator door was closing, he called me a "N*gger." I took the stairs down the apartment and confronted him on the first floor. After confronting him and returning to the staircase to walk back up to my apartment, he again called me a "N*gger." I spoke to the owner of Mirage Diner, who was apologetic and mentioned that the delivery person is a contractor and works for the diner approximately twice per week and that he would no longer work for the diner. Upon further reflection of the incident, it seemed that this contractor should no longer work as a delivery person for any restaurant; I again called the owner of Mirage Diner to seek the delivery person's full name and the name of other restaurants at which he works, to which the owner responded unknowingly and suggested I enlist the police for help. read more

This was the first diner i ve ate. At my first time i tried salmon and i love it. Their food are really delicious and atmosphere is really so warm. Also they serve free pickles and coleslaw which are delicious. Their portion also big enough. Their omelet specials also good. I ve been that place with someone really special for me and it also makes this place special for me. Even though one time while i was eating one of their waiter came to my table and asked me go out and my phone number. It was a strange moment for me. I said no but he was insistent and it was weird for me. Cause i really love that place. May be they can talk their workers and warn them. The food is generally pretty good. However, the concern with Mirage Diner is that they offer the same old vegetables that come with the lunches. There is nothing new or creative: For instance: they have peas, carrots, corn, string beans and broccoli. Sometimes asparagus. Mirage diner, why not offer some nice stuffed artichoke hearts and kasha vanishes with the lunch specials ? It would be appreciated. :) Also, the spinach pie says it comes with artichoke hearts. There was only one artichoke heart in my dish. The diner is clean, attractive & the service is okay. I would like to see some nice vegan specialties so that my husband can enjoy this diner as well. read more

So I ordered a breakfast platter and a chicken sandwich through grubhub. On their menu, it specified 2 eggs and bacon and I also asked for BBQ sauce on the side for my sandwich. Besides them taking over an hour in a half to deliver my food they also forgot to give the bacon and the BBQ that I specified. My breakfast platter was halfassed and the chicken sandwich tasted awful and not fresh. I then called them for the missing items and was given the option to be refunded for the bacon or to have it delivered. However, I never received my bacon that day!!! Don't order from here if you wanna pay $8 for eggs!!! read more

THE waitor was very nice that day and the service was good ! I am sorry but the only reason i am giving it only 2 stars is because the lunch meal that i had was not up to par. It is very expensive as well. I ordered the fish for 14.95 that comes with potato and vegetable, soup or salad. They served a tiny plate that only fitted a few vegetables. Also, the escarole was overly oily. Not only this but they served the bottome part of the vegetable only, commonly called the stems. The one good thing about the special is that it comes with either tea or coffee. This alone made it passable. :) read more

I like the variety of food. Usually the food is tasty. Prices have gone up but compared to other diners still reasonable. Would have given this Diner 5 stars but for its mixed service. On this day the bus boy did not give me coffee but only first to my cousin. Had to ask several times. The waitress spilled gravy on me and gave me the wrong soup at first. I have been here several times and the service is is usually okay. Nice atmosphere. Have redone the tables and decor. Have walker and wheelchair accessibility. read more

Nice cozy diner with good service. I enjoy the lunch specials with the exception of the "side" vegetable; the reason being that I received a tiny small portion of broccoli in the tiniest dish ever. However, the 'lunch special' comes with either a nice salad or soup, THE spinach pie is overly cooked and soggy, & probably microvaved. I typically like Mirage but they're one of the worst places to order from. Delivery always takes extremely long and the food is always cold when it gets here. My boyfriend ordered mozzarella sticks and they arrived cold with no marinara sauce. Everything was soggy. And to top it all off. We were told the order total right after we finished our order and the guy who delivered it told us another total and practically barked at me for not having enough for a tip. Average diner food; the spinach pie most of the time is soggy except for one time ( on a Friday). That one day it was excellent. The hamburgers are not good, they are flimsy. I had a problem with the valet parking gentleman that day. They overpack their parking lot with more cars they could handle & it took a while for me to get my car out. P.S. Some of the waitstaff leaves much to be desired and some of them talk over the food when they bring it over to the table. A bit unsanitary. read more

By far the BEST diner in Brooklyn............. With all the diners in Brooklyn fading slowly there is still a ray of light. Great quality food, huge portions, such friendly people.... I get their omelettes for breakfast almost twice a week and nobody beats it, sometimes I substitute the home fries for sweet potato fries and they are out of this world! overall a great diner.... strawberry cheesecake is by far the best in Brooklyn !! read more

The last of a dying breed of old fashioned diners now replaced by fast food and prepackaged and often unidentifiable junk. Prices are fair and the service is good. Almost all the other diners in the area have gone out of business over the last decade. If you've never been here, it's a must visit. read more

This is the quality and dedication that you can depend on consistently from Parkway. I must almost mention that their oatmeal is totally delicious and worth selecting! Finally, you have to select the baked potato because there is no way you can produce the quality they serve, in your own kitchen at home. It would be very difficult and not worth the trouble to try and produce this quality at home in your own kitchen!

A coupon that had been purchased was refused without a reasonable explanation, and throughout our visit the owner repeatedly harassed staff about money they supposedly owed, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for both employees and customers. If this is truly under new ownership, the customer service and business practices need significant improvement. I prefer to support local businesses that treat both their employees and guests with respect, and unfortunately this was not one of them.

I specifically ordered a deluxe burger and selected onion rings as the side that came with it. I then ordered a separate side of French fries. In my special instructions, I simply wrote that I wanted the French fries cooked well done. When my DoorDash order arrived, my deluxe burger came with fries instead of the onion rings I had selected, on top of the separate order of fries I had already purchased. I considered letting it go, but after spending over $40, ending up with two orders of fries that I never asked for was ridiculous. I called because I wasn't sure if sending the onion rings through DoorDash was even possible, but I wanted to see what solution they could offer. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the "manager" immediately tried to blame me and said, "Well, your special instructions said to make the fries well done." I'll be honest, I lost it. I couldn't believe I was being blamed for a mistake I didn't make. Asking for the French fries to be cooked well done does not mean I was asking to replace my onion rings with another order of fries. At no point did I ask for a substitution for something I specifically selected. Instead of taking accountability or trying to fix the mistake, the manager continued insisting it was somehow my fault. If there was any confusion, the appropriate response would have been to apologize and try to make it right, not blame the customer. Mistakes happen, but refusing to take accountability and doubling down instead of trying to resolve the issue is terrible customer service. By the end of the conversation, the missing onion rings weren't even the biggest issue. It was the complete lack of accountability. I won't be ordering from here again.

Their roast chicken dish special was pretty much an entire chicken and I was a little shocked with the portions and super full to be thinking about extras however they didn't give us the dessert after the chicken but we were too full to think about dessert- basically we didn't make it through the meal!
