She used to work for a different establishment and she messaged me telling me she was switching to Mirage Nails. Mirage Nails is 10 minutes further for me, but I will make the trip just for her! The first time I came here was for my birthday nails! As every other girl, they want their birthday nails to be the best possible. I did tips, My Vampire is Buff with chrome powder on top. The vanilla clean girl TikTok trend (basically where I get all my nail inspo) These nails were so beautiful, even my mom complimented them! Both the times I've been she only had the color in gel. She's so sweet, she'll even look for the color herself, while I sit! She puts dip powder first and coats the nail with gel, which makes them stay on that much longer. Honestly, the feeling of your hair getting caught in your nails has never been a problem with Naly! I always feel looking my best after my getting my nails done with her. The salon itself is very clean and well lit. It's relatively small with only a few chairs for pedicure and manicures and I honestly would not be able to find it or even know about it if it wasn't for her. They have a wide array of colors ranging from regular, gel, dip! Even chrome powders which is all the rave right now. The salon is set up to manage clients with Covid standards. They honored our appointment as we set up two manicure pedicure appointments to be had at the same time. While I would like to say that I got a very nice manicure and pedicure it was quite costly. I got a standard manicure and pedicure for $52. I observed the owner making it very difficult for an African-American gay man to keep his appointment. He was instructed to stay in his car and when he indicated that he walk there he was told he needed to wait outside. I indicated that there was an opportunity of somewhere to sit within the salon and he said thank you for speaking up for him. She took him into a back room to get his eyebrows done and upon having him come to the front of the store she then told him that she could not keep his pedicure appointment. When one of the workers spoke up that she could be done quickly to take him, the owner brushed her off and said no we cannot give you a pedicure today. He then got very upset and frustrated and decided to leave. Another client indicated that her friend could come back another day to get her pedicure since she didn't have an appointment. I went to another salon, in the shopping center over and ran right over to Mirage to see if they fix the mess the other salon made to my nails a few moments before. The ladies at Mirage were so empathetic, my nails had glue and pieces of tip from the other salon. Vanna cleaned it up as best she could. I would highly recommend you not get your nails or a wax done here. The salon is located at the back of the 7-Eleven adjacent to the McDonalds. Parking is easy to come by. Their location is probably the only good thing about this establishment. The individuals working there are rude and have limited customer service skills. I received an upper lip wax that took off skin from the corner of both sides of my smile line. I've been getting my upper lip waxed for years from salons good and bad and this is the first time a salon has removed skin. NEVER again! It left a scar for about 3 months on my face. I came out here on two friends recommendations. I made a couple appointments, one for me, one for a gf that was getting married (civil). We had gel nails and a regular pedicure done. They were pretty helpful in picking out colors and treated the bride to be especially well. I have had my nails done here twice now and they were perfection the second time around (and good the first time). I had my gel mani on for 3 weeks (both mani's). No peeling, infection, nothing! In my opinion, this is the best place in the Rockville area to go for nail services! I am not overly fond of chitchat while I get my nails done, I just like it to be relaxing. The staff here certainly aren't rude, and will engage in conversation if you want, but they are not super chatty if you're not in the mood for conversation. I've come in twice, and got a gel mani both times, and a pedicure once. Their prices are a little high, $37 for the gel mani, but I like their service and how long the gel lasted. Both times I made an appointment, which seems pretty necessary just so they have enough staff for you, they always have customers, but it's not crazy. The tools are clean, they came out of a sterile bag and my tech poured a new container of sanitizer that she put the tools in during my visit. The files themselves were a little older looking, but not dirty. The pedicure chairs are very nice as well. My only complaint is that the towels they use for the manicure tables and the pedicure are ratty looking, clean but the edges are very frayed. The towels for drying your hands are nice and new, so don't let that be the reason you don't come. If I were staying in the area per mentally, this would be the only place I would ever go! read more

I went there for the first time today to get a gel manicure. The polish she used was so old and lumpy, my nails are now lumpy with thick, goopy looking polish. It's been 2 hours since I had my nails done, and one large lump just chipped off. I'll never go back. Update: 24 hours later, 1 more nail chipped and another looks like the polish is about to peel off. I've never seen anything like this, I'm not sure that was gel polish she put on my nails. I was in area and decided to treat myself to a well needed pedicure. It was my first visit at this salon. I was greeted and taken care of immediately. My nail technician wasn't a talker which is totally fine. I didn't get his name. He asked me if I wanted to get fill, assuming my nails are acrylic, but they are natural nails with gel polish. I passed on the gel manicure. One of his colleagues sat down next to him preparing to take another customer and in Vietnamese said convince her to change her mind about the gel manicure. The male employee who finally arrived and came in to takeover sat down and began verbally harassing and bullying me that he was called and rushed here ... to the point he even mocked "next time for me he'll sleep at the door to open it for me"... Came here for the first time yesterday to get a classic manicure for myself and buffing/hand massage for my boyfriend. The prices are reasonable and the service is standard. The lady never pushed me to get gel or anything like that either. We did have to wait around 15 minutes to be tended to but the staff were all very courteous and kept telling us we were not forgotten. I had high hopes for this place, but was unfortunately so disappointed. I wanted to find a place I could be a regular at. I made an appointment and they did not honor it at all. Don't bother making an appointment, as they just take walk ins. Literally 3 people walked in after me and they all got seen right away. I made an appointment 1.5 hours before they closed, and even got off work early so that the person doing them wouldn't need to rush. Since they had me wait, the woman who ended up doing my nails and I were the very last ones in the salon come closing time. They seem to treat their regulars very nice (so that's a plus) but definitely don't know how to treat potential regular customers. Second, I asked the woman doing my nails that I wanted almond-shaped. I showed her a photo, but they still ended up being "mountain-peak" shaped. She kept telling me they were almond, until I showed her the photo of the "mountain-peak" nails. Fortunately she was able to fix them, but still charged me $3 extra for "fixing" what she didn't do correctly in the first place! Made me uncomfortable to speak up about my nails, because then she and another colleague were speaking very quickly in another language and seemed angry as they talked about my nails. In the end, I was satisfied with my nails but the whole experience from start to finish was not worth it. The woman was not very friendly and kind of rough on my hands. Came in for gel mani/pedi and eyebrows in prep for a wedding. Staff was extremely courteous and attentive. The pedicure was comfortable and not too long, and staff were careful to check what length I wanted my nails before cutting/filing. I also had a split nail and were careful to avoid worsening it. The gel mani was quick but most places I go to don't roughen up all parts of the nail, so the polish never lasts. My staff was careful to hit all parts of the nail and it shows because it's now going on 2 weeks and my polish hasn't budged. The eyebrow was was quick and relatively painless, n concerns. I was terribly disappointed by the owners lack of acceptance of the Yelp deal that was advertised! He denied they had the deal and told me to call Yelp. The only reason I even came to this place was because of the advertised deal, as I explained. If you advertise something, then you should keep to that. Ridiculous. I've only gotten nail services here, and am surprised that some reviewers have had a negative experience (though people only really review if they've had a great or terrible experience). Mirage has a really good selection of polishes and gel colors. They also have very clean nail stations and pedicure chairs. Most recently, I got a mani/pedi from Nam and enjoyed every second of it. My normal manicure (not gel) lasted for 2 weeks, with one minor chip (which was my fault from trying to open something with my nails). Nam was also really impressive with working around a healing wound on my hand during the manicure. Mirage also offers dip manicure services, so that's a great option for stepping outside of the normal gel or mani/pedi box. Mirage makes you feel pampered and is a solid affordable place with a great location - I really have nothing critical to say about the joint! read more

I went to Mirage Nails on the Pike today based on reviews I read here on Yelp... what a huge mistake. I originally wanted to get a gel manicure and wax but when I walked back to the bathroom and saw the waxing rooms I was grossed out by how dirty the place was... The salon was old, dirty and had absolutely no ventilation. To make things worse, I paid $37 for a gel manicure that looks horrible. It honestly looks like I gave my 5 year old niece a chance to paint my nails. The manicurist did a HORRIBLE job. I cannot stress this enough. She also took her sweet time... I was there for over an hour. On top of the horrible manicure, I cannot get over the fact that the gel manicure is $37 and they are SOOOOO cheap with supplies. I highly doubt she used clean tools on my nails. And the cotton... I just paid almost 40 bucks. You can afford to soak more than a centimeter of cotton to soak the gel off my nails. Walked in for eyebrow waxing today. This is my second time here. The first time, I left irritated because they dropped the waxing stick in my hair, panicked... And ran out to get help. I decided that everyone has bad days, so let me give them another try. The place is in a great location and cute inside. When I was brought back to the wax room, it was dirty. Once I laid on the table, I looked up at the light and it was disgusting. I should have left right then, but didn't. After my sad, sad manicure on Saturday from Lifestyle Nail Spa on Randolph Rd, I was itching to get my nails done again and have them be beautiful this time. I looked at the star rating on Yelp and decided to walk over from the Whole Foods to Mirage Nails and give them a shot. I initially just wanted a polish change, as my polish from the manicure just three days ago was already chipped and very uneven. The salon itself looked fine- not sparkling clean and new and beautiful, but not horrible either. There were more than a few towels strewn about, but no big deal, really. The lady tending to me (Tina) asked if I wanted my toe nail polish changed too and I said, sure, why not? During this polish change, she left me in the pedicure chair twice to go tend to other customers. That's ok, it was busy. When she came back, she suggested a gel manicure after asking why I was unhappy with my current manicure and then after I accepted, she promised she'd take care of me. Once at her station, she managed to get rid of tons of cuticles left behind (this made me very happy) and she shaped my nails and they looked awesome. Then she did the gel manicure thing and they looked amazing! I paid $51- $37 for the gel manicure, $14 for the polish change. A bit pricey, but I left her a $10 tip and was on my way. This is where it went bad. Once outside, I noticed streaks on my nails. Greasy looking streaks that I thought were on top of the nail polish, but are somehow cured in with the polish itself. It looks TERRIBLE. I was so disappointed I almost cried. I have a new baby and being able to tear myself away and leave her with a babysitter for almost two hours is really difficult. If I've spent over $60 total, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect my nails to look perfect. I don't have the time to fix this myself and have to wait to go back to get it fixed. I've contacted the salon to let them know I am unhappy with the results of my gel manicure and I'm hoping they will be nice enough to fix their mistake. Update- After reaching out to management at Mirage, I received a quick response from Assistant Manager Brian. He apologized for my nail sadness and offered to fix it for me, free of charge. Brian is a super professional, funny, knowledgeable guy and he gave me literally the BEST manicure I have ever had in my life. It's always been clean and I've never had to wait long to be attended to, even if I didn't have an appointment. I hadn't gotten acrylics in years and ended up going to another salon, but when I needed a fill I decided to come back to Mirage. Natalie did an AMAZING job. She was so detail-oriented and really took her time, especially around the edges. She invited my feedback throughout the process which made me feel comfortable when I asked for the tips to be straightened in one or two places after she finished filling in new acrylic.
