I started going to Blu Water after getting my eyebrows done by Julie. Since then, I've referred her a hundred times. All my friends who go say that Blu Water is like no other- getting your nails done in the spa truly feels indulgent. I got a massage done there and it was literally the best massage of my life. So when it came time to get my skin in order, I trusted Blu Water's technicians. I found Ivetta and I am SO glad I did. After I turned 50 I noticed my skin changing. A year later, my skin lost all of its elasticity and I was breaking out- no doubt a loss of estrogen and after taking some pretty serious meds. I scheduled an appointment for a specific service but when I showed up, Ivette took a look at my skin and made recommendations for a different service. After three treatments with her over the course of about two and a half months, my skin has completely turned around! It's absolmutely glowing! It's even, my pores are smaller and it's tighter. It was just starting to crepe- GONE! And even the dark circles under my eyes are lighter. It's abs amazing and I never thought I could be that woman with pretty skin. My daughter went to Julie for eyebrow shaping which came out beautifully. I had lost my eyebrows almost completely from a Rx. I went to Julie for a consultation as they hadn't grown back in over a year. She listened to all my concerns and fears and offered solutions to do the powder ombre treatment. She took time to design the best shape for my face and gave me multiple choices. I was totally afraid of needles and she assured me the gel would numb the area and it would feel like being scratched. They'll see you if they happen to have an opening but I suggest making an appointment. The place is close to where I live, easy to get to and ample parking. Upon entering, it smells divine. The ambience is calming and perfect for a day of relaxation. I was greeted by the receptionist and helped right away. I sat and waited for the chair to be ready for me. BluWater Day Spa is an excellent choice for all of the beauty needs for skin and nails. They offer a wide array of services. The estheticians are well trained and experienced. I have been seeing Norya for decades. All of the Nail Technicians are also very good, they know what they are doing, and are easy on cuticles. I usually see Yen, but I have also seen many others. Everyone is attentive and skilled. It seems to be a family run business as many of the staff are related to Julie, the owner. The front office receptionists always welcome me by name and I rarely have to wait very long for my appointment. Everyone is just really nice. Plenty of parking available in a nice strip mall in N. Bethesda/Kensington area. The spa is clean and well maintained and they place high importance on infection control and protecting their clients. I highly recommend this Spa. The ease of making an appointment online deserves a few stars but that's not enough :( I made an appointment for neck microneedling. I didn't want to commit to my face just yet and thank the universe I didn't do my face! I arrived on a Saturday afternoon. The salon was busy. I was taken back promptly. I layer my head down and the aesthetician asked questions. Next thing I know I hear the micro needling device rumbling and it's a inches from my face. Ummm... hello... where's the numbing???? I freak out! I've had microneedling before with full face numbing. I was NOT expecting this. She said they should have told me to come in earlier for numbing. So it's not common practice to numb a face before puncturing it? Whaaaat? She looked annoyed that I was scared and had second thoughts. I've gone through hours of tattoo sessions so I told myself to man up lol Yikes! Ouch! I don't recommend. Comfort should be priority. I spent $100 and she wasn't even able to get a deep microneedling done because numbing isn't a common practice. Very weird. I do not recommend at all. read more

Blu Water is pretty inside, despite it's unfortunate location in a shopping plaza behind White Flint Mall. I went to Julie for a brow shaping and tint. She does an amazing job--she spent more time on brows than anyone ever has, and that's not including the tint. Every hair was meticulously cared for, which is amazing. I went in and had the permanent eyeliner top and bottom done. It looked OK once I left, but you can't see very clearly because your eyes are still a little sore. After a couple of days, you could barely see the bottom liner so I came back to get it refined, which cost an extra hundred dollars. And after about two weeks, you could not see the bottom once again so that was a waste of money. I know it is no guarantee when you have certain things done, but I probably would not recommend anyone to go there and have it done. read more

I wish Erica was still there. Instead, I had Kim N do my facial and eyebrow/upper lip waxing. When I got home, there were so many hairs that were missed in both areas. My upper lip had a small line of hair right above the lip, which made it so much more noticeable. For my facial, I gave her free reign to do whatever she needed to help my acne/skin heal. I've had facials there before with Erica, and I always left feeling better and seeing noticeable redness reduction. This time, I did not. Everything felt very superficial and my skin was not any better. Too bad Erica isn't there anymore. read more

The facility is divided into two portions, one side for the salon and the other for the spa. The spa was fairly small with quite thin walls. You could hear distinctively every persons footsteps and conversations as they walked by. It was difficult to relax initially but my masseuse Mon was really great with keeping me informed with our next steps and very strong and mindful of the amount of pressure applied. I was gifted a 60 minutes Champagne & Rose massage with hot stone which was definitely fulfilling. I am a very, very particular person. I often do my own nails, cut my own hair etc.. but I could never get my eyebrows to look the way that I wanted. A friend recommended Blu water day spa and after doing extensive research on places throughout the MD/VA/DE area, I realized that blu water had exactly what I was looking for. I like almost an hour from the salon and determined that it was worth the drive, ESPECIALLY after my consultation with Carla. I was going to see Julie initially, but Carla's Instagram won me over (masterpieces_by_carla - so beautiful I could just die). She is incredible!!!! Took her time, was honest and clear, and gave me thorough details on the process. The day of, I was barely nervous, just SO excited to have my new brows. The appointment was great, no pain at all after the numbing treatment, and I went out to run errands after just to show off my brows. I am in LOVE!!! It has now been about 3 weeks and I love them even more than day 1. Guys, from one picky betch to the next......go see the ladies at blu water. Update after my 8 week touchup: still 100000% in love! After 8 weeks, my brows still looked amazing and the touch-up was just a bonus to fill in the tiny spots that had faded after the initial appointment (which is normal). The day I went in to see Linh at Be Scene Hair Salon (who has temporarily set up shop at Blu Water Day Spa) was a good day for my hair indeed. Not only did I walk out with transformed My Little Pony-esque multicolored hair thanks to Linh, but I had the fortune of running into Blu Water's owner and resident eyebrow guru, Julie! She very kindly was complimenting me on my brows (an amazing self-esteem boost if I've ever had one!), and when I mentioned that I actually was in need of a waxing to clean stuff up, she immediately motioned for me to follow her. So follow her I did, and she may have just turned me into a follower for life! We walked across the salon to her waxing room, she had me lie down on the chair-bed-thing after covering it with some clean paper, and went to work. As I've been blessed with relatively strong brows with a defined shape, most of my former brow waxing sessions have only lasted about 5 minutes. Clean up the strays, pluck a smidge, done. Not with Julie! She really took her time analyzing my brow shape, explaining what she was doing, and poring over them to make sure they looked their very best. I was so impressed! I highly recommend going to see Julie for your brows -- and while I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing Blu Water Day Spa's other services yet, the salon as a whole really impressed me. It's beautiful, HUGE, nicely decorated, clean, and compartmentalized so you don't have to deal with nail polish smell while you're getting your hair did, or anything like that. I went here for eyelash enhancers that are supposed to last two weeks. However after two to three days the lashes were already falling out! I was upset because they were BEAUTIFUL. I couldn't have been more pleased!! NOT a bad review about the place or staff or anything, just that the eyelashes wasn't worth the price since it didn't last as long. ($60) The people were extremely friendly and helpful!! It was clean and relaxing but my boyfriend burned his tongue on the coffee lol They did offer me a 20% discount for any other service and explained that I may have needed stronger glue but they have had negative reactions with stronger glues in the past.
